After sync NOTHING shows up on Palm Desktop

My Treo 650 from Verizon works perfectly. It also syncs perfectly to my computer, installing any new programs I have que'd to and not having any sort of trouble.
Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is my default program for handling any sort of files for palm, but when it's opened there is absolutely NOTHING that my palm has sync'd showing up for it. No phone contacts, dates, anything.
I don't have a data plan, so I don't use Outlook or have any contacts or addresses in there, but shouldn't my phone contacts and calendar dates be backed up and showing up on Palm Desktop?

In the top right hand corner of the Palm desktp there is a user drop down menu. Confirm that it is set to the same user displaying in hotsync on the Treo.

After sync iPad shows 21GB other

After syncing my 64GB iPad with my computer (Mac) it shows 21GB "Other" when it should be approx 25GB free. When I googled it I was advised to restore from backup which I did but it didn't change. I'm not sure if I can restore to a previous backup (not sure where to look for that on my Mac?

If you have multiple backups in iTunes, they would appear in the drop down menu in the window that pops up when you select the option to restore from a backup. Did you see the drop down menu? Typically it would show the name of your iPad and the last backup for the device.
Besides, you will only have multiple backups if you have restored from backups in the past. Every time that you restore from a backup, another date and time stamped backup is created in iTunes and those backups would be accessible in that drop down menu.
I assume that you have never restored from a backup until just now and since that did not work, restoring to factory settings and then adding your apps and media back onto the iPad is probably what you should try next.

Missing tags after syncing (TV Shows)

I have some TV Shows that have their tags filled out correctly for iTunes (e.g., Season Number and Episode Number), but those tags won't display on my Apple TV even after syncing. I've tried filling out every field I can on the video files, to no avail. And even more frustrating? It's not a consistent problem. If I try to stream them from iTunes instead of accessing them on the Apple TV itself, all the tags are correct. (Plus this problem seems to affect only about half my TV Shows.) And yes, I've inspected the tags for all the episode files of this show and they're consistent. What's going on?

First of all, are you positve you have properly configured and setup your iPod to sync TV Shows, from under the *TV Shows* tab for your iPod in iTunes?
I would also check their media type in iTunes. To do this, locate the TV shows in iTunes, right ->click on them and choose "get info" from the Menu. From there, head over to the Options tab. There should be a drop down menu next to "Media Type". Make sure it is set to "Tv Show".
If not either of those, do you receive any error messages while syncing these TV shows over to your iPod. Let me know. Would love to help.

Only one user showing up in Quick Install, but both users show up in Palm Desktop

Hello, Newbie here, but long time Palm user & lover.
I can't install to my (e-Pay) HandSpring Treo 270 only because the User name isn't listed. I read the other posts, but the situations weren't the same. Both sync just fine, and I've even copied older records over with import & export feature and everything else is fine & dandy.

My roommates Dell XPS w/ Windows Vista Home Premium (sp2), Palm Desktop 4.1.4 (because of...), USR Palm Pilot Professional v.2.0.5 Pro, and my HandSpring Treo 270 v. 3.5.2H5.7 (T-Mobile prepaid).
If I read the support info correctly, I need to stay with the Palm Desktop version I have due to the legacy devices I'm using. I'm hoping some cool hacker type registry edit or killer Linux hidden applet trojan patch thingamabob will do the trick. (Please don't make me uninstall/reinstall windows, and all my data and uninstall/reinstall Palm desktop, buy a Mac, learn C++, write some code, move out of my Mom's basement... (

Had Palm Pilot Personal in '97?, then Handspring Visor Deluxe, Palm III, Handspring Visor Prism, Visor Phone (never tried the service though), GPS springboard ... then the visor and the computer crashed in the same month, loosing about 7 years of data, and I haven't had the stomach to start trusting technology again... until I found this Palm Pro in the box at PC Liquidators... and lost my 3yr old phone fill of needed stuff... Problem
A user is deleted from Active Directory but still appears in Cisco Unified Communications Manger as inactive and stays there in a delete pending state. This issue occurs in a Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster synchronized with the Active Directory .
Solution
Complete these steps in order to resolve this issue.
Choose Cisco Unified Serviceability> Tools> Control Centre - Feature Services
Choose the IP Address of the publisher.
Restart the Cisco DirSync service.
If this procedure does not resolve the issue, complete these steps:
Garbage Collection can cause this issue, so check the logs to determine if it is invoked.
Make sure that the Dirsync service is active.
Check the DirectoryPluginConfig table in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager database to see if there is an entry with pkid 54c43f99-a561-4f3a-868d-26a5547445d9.
Note: The output of the run sql select * from DirectoryPluginConfig command confirms whether the Garbage Collector pkid is present in the DirectoryPluginConfig table when the DirSync service starts.
If the pkid is not present, open a case with the TAC Service Request Tool (registered customers only) and provide a remote support account so that TAC can update the DirectoryPluginConfig table to fix the Garbage Collection row.
Restart the DirSync service.

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. In answer to your question NO. Hotsync will set the conduits for either outlook or for Palm desktop. Technically you could synce to one, go to the conduits and change them to the other and sync, meaning each time your want to sync you would have to change conduits and this would add a very high probability to data corruption.

After syncing, iTunes shows a large amount of "other" data

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? I should have 3 gigs of apps but I only have 0.05.....

I have the same issue - after the last sync my "other" was blown up to 3 GB. I have tried already several syncs with also de-activating apps/ videos etc. But nothing works. Any other idea than the restoring?

Nothing shows up on my Desktop. I can put a file into the Desktop folder but it will not appear on the DTop. The HarDrive is not on the DTop either.

You can temporarily hide the crap on your desktop. Edit the CreateDesktop key in com.apple.finder:
defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool false && killall Finder
Then, to get my clutter back:
defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool true && killall Finder

Media files not showing in Palm desktop

I have done a successful sync between iMac and TX, and have Palm Desktop 4.2.1. Everything shows up in desktop except the media files (which were there with Palm Desktop using Windows XP on my old computer). I was able to transfer a photo from the Mac to the TX successfully. Why aren't the media files showing up in Palm Desktop?

The MAC version (4.2.1) of the Palm DT does not support media. However you can move photos as you have already seen by using the quick install tool.

Installing Palm Desktop & Missing Sync to Mac-Questions

Here are the steps from the Mark/Space webpage for install Palm Desktop (PD) and Missing Sync (MS) to my new Mac (I just converted from PC 4 days ago):
"Note: In order for the Missing Sync to work properly with Palm Desktop, Palm Desktop must be installed PRIOR to installing Missing Sync for Palm OS.
1) Install Palm Desktop 4.2.X
To download Palm Desktop 4.2.X, please go to: http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/mac_desktop.html
2) Install Missing Sync for Palm OS Version 5.1.X or higher
3) If you have previously synchronized with Palm Desktop, your user name will be automatically added to the list of handhelds.
4) Configure the Palm Desktop conduits and make certain that other PIM conduits, such as Mark/Space Conduits for Contacts, Events and Tasks are not enabled."
I have about 40 3rd party apps on my Treo, few of which have a desktop component (conduit): Adobe, Avantgo, DocsToGo, Easy Schedule (United Airlines), eReader, MobiPocket, WorldMate, Vindigo and Zagat. I believe that all except for MobiPocket will work with Mac.
However, what do I do during the first sync, when I want to get my PIMs syncing and PIM data migrating from my Treo 680 the the PD on the Mac? I assume that this might work:
1. When do I delete all Treo 680 3rd party apps, before I sync the PIMs or does it matter as long as I turn off the 3rd party conduits?
2. Only sync the PIMs first until I see that they are working. Do this with conduit set to handheld overwrites desktop.
3. Get Mac-compatible apps from the makers, install them on the Mac and, using MS, sync and install them on my Treo. This entails correctly setting the conduits and following MS's instructions when the process is a little tricky (ie, Vindigo, Avantgo). I don't want to update any of these apps via wireless so I'm hoping that Missing Sync can do the syncing job for all of them.
Zagat isn't on their supported apps list but Zagat does indicate that it works with Mac. I don't know what that means.
Does anyone have any comments. Thanks.

External USB HD doesn't show up on the desktop

I have an iMac G5 with 10.4.10 installed on it
Last week after the update to 10.4.10 my LaCie usb conected hard drive still showed up on my desktop but after a second restart it disapeared and never came back.
If I connect my external HD with a windows computer (with macdrive software) I can see and open my files. (I concluded that my drive still works propperly)
If I connect my drive nothing shows up on my desktop but, there is a change in my /volumes map (I have an map action connected to an automator script if some thing changes overthere). When I connect my HD I can see an automator action is going on ...
And if I put the power of from my usb drive I get an warning that a drive was unmounted "unpropperly" (the warning when you plug a usb out without draging it to the trash).
I have al ready tried :
*Putting my mac on and of again, didn't work
*Putting my HD on and of agian, didn't work
*Opened disk utility and checked my external drive, disk utility can see my external drive but it showed no errors when checking.
*checked my Finder preferences, removeble media should show up on my desktop
*Opening usb prober; overthere I can see that my external HD is connected, but my HD would show up magicly on the desktop like some other lucky people on the internet.
*Rebuilding my directory with diskwarrior, didn't work (diskwarrior did saw my drive and said it did show up on my desktop
*Restoring IOUSB...keys from the combo 10.4.9 updater, didn't work
*Reinstaling 10.4.0, my drive didn't show up either, updated everything back to 10.4.10, won't show up.
Does anyone have an idea what I can do to get my drive up and runing again on my iMac?

Hello, I'm having the exact same problem as Cheburashka, actually it started happening almost as the same time (jul 23). I just switched from being a PC user to a Mac user, so I don't know much about OSX yet. Cheburashka mentioned he made an update, I also made a sofware update, maybe it has something to do? Also my desktop stopped showing my external usb HD
and any other USB flash memory I plug into any usb hubs. but when I tried them on a pc, they worked perfectly, so I also discarded a possible error on my usb device, I tried my usb joystick and the keyboard on my G5's usb hubs and they work perfectly so is not a hardware problem either. I'm about to try that invisible-hd fix right now but I'm a little worried cause I've never used it, seems like a big deal, anyway I'll keep up with any progress you guys make, thanx.

Mac os 10.5.2 + Palm Desktop 4.2.2

Completely frustrated, and ready to return my Centro.
I am a veteran palm user, and recently made the big switch to my first smart phone...the Palm Centro.
I used to sync my Palm TX with my iMac and had no problems syncing it to the regular Palm Desktop, and bought the Missing Sync and synced everything up with my mac applications.
A few months ago, I purchased a macbook with a 10.5.2 OS, and have only been syncing my Palm TX at work on my PC. Now though, I would like to sync my Palm TX AND my Centro on my mac as well.
I haven't even tried syncing both on the pc at work, so I wont' go there yet.
MY ISSUE: When trying to sync to Macbook, both palm devices appear to be syncing seamlessly. When read the conduit log, everything says "OK." However, this isn't the case. Nothing gets synced at all...nothing from the calendar, addresses, memos, goes ANYWHERE! I have checked entourage as well as my mac applications to see if they decided to hide and go somewhere else, but they are no where to be found.
Luckly, I havne't lost any information yet. Everything is staying as though it was never synced. How can I fix this? Do I need to purchase the Missing Sync again? The thing is, I'm not even there yet. Right now, I just would like to have one SOLID hot sync between both Palms and my macbook. Grr.

Check that the user name on each device matches to the user profile in the palm desktop software.
Have you sync'd with any error messages at all when syncing any of the two devices?

Palm Desktop 4.1.4E for is not compatible with Vista ?

I got Zire 31 and try to sync in Windows Vista using Palm Desktop 4.1.4E for Windows
I did right click on the setup files and "run as administrator", and after the installation, I click on the icon and run as the administrator to open the program.
and it pop up this message "Palm Desktop Application has stop working..."
uninstall and reinstall didn't help. so would that mean Palm Desktop 4.1.4E for Windows does not work with Windows Vista ????

Which version of Vista? 32bit or 64bit?
Your only solution to sync with 64bit is via the Infra-red (IR) port on your Zire31...

The external hard drive is not showing up on my desktop

I've just brought a new external Hard drive for my mac book pro and when I put the usb cable into the laptop nothing showed up on the desktop. I waited a few minutes but nothing happen and then I turned off the computer and did it again. Will be great help if anyone knows what to do.
