After syncing iPod says no music

Hi, hope you can help.. I have tried syncing my ipod classic with my lovely new iMac, and although it all appears to have synced (on computer screen), on my ipod it does say that 80gb have been used up (size of music library), but it comes under 'Other' and not music or podcasts and cannot see the content at all. I have tried this three times now, and made sure all software is updated to no avail.. Hope somebody can help before I chuck my ipod out of the window!!!!

Please dont chuck it out of the window, it might land on some poor elves.

  • Changed Compilation status and now, after syncing, iPod is missing music

Frustrated with not being able to view all the Artists on my iPod, this past weekend I removed the "Part of a Compilation" info from most of my compilation-classified albums. I then synced my iPod. It didn't take very long and I guess I found that odd, but I just assumed all the music was still on my iPod and didn't bother to check.
Today, I find that while all the music I changed the info on remains on iTunes, it's missing from my iPod and won't sync.
Is there something I need to change on my library to get the iPod to load these missing songs? They were on it before, albeit as part of a compilation.

  • Ipod says no music but when connected to computer shows music

ipod says no music, but when hooked to mac shows music and playlists

In the Mac iTunes, you may be looking at the iTunes library, click the iPod iCon in the device pane, and look at the summary page, it will tell you what is shown in the iPod.
The Capacity  section will report Audio, and Other (which in your case may contain your music) due to filesystem coruuption.

  • After charging ipod says there is not music on ipod even though storgage useage indicated all of the music is still there

I recently charged/synched my 160 GB ipod classic - I may have disconnected it before it was ready.  Now the ipod says there is not music/playlists on the ipod - when I had used up over half the space previously.  I think the music is still on the ipod because it indicated something listed as "other" is taking up the same space the music used to take up.  How do I get the ipod to go back to recognizing the music?

Other is corrupt files, probably caused when you disconnected. Connect the iPod to iTunes and use the Restore button on the Device/Summary pane. This will remove everything and then re-load the iPod with the contents of your Library.

  • My audible audiobooks position isn't remembered after syncing--iPod classic

I recently developed a problem.  After I sync my iPod Classic 160GB on my Mac (Lion), the device (and iTunes) no longer remembers the position where I last stopped listening.  I have gone into each book, hit info, and made such the box is checked next to Remember Playback Position.  The problem only occurs after syncing.
This is very frustrating.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I solved the problem myself. Somehow, every music file and video got unchecked in iTunes. I didn't do it--it did it on its own. I am now re-syncing and it appears to be putting stuff back on.
I am not sure how this got messed up, but I used the same cable for my iPod to sync my iPhone and it was after that, that things went haywire.

  • My playlist does not appear after syncing ipod

My playlist is not syncing to my ipod...what should i do?

Having the same problem.  I have an 8gig Nano touch my wife just bought.  When I add a playlist it doesn't show up after sync. I have it set up to manual sync, so I should be able to drag & drop like all my other devices.
It shows that it is on there when connected to the MacBook Pro, but does not show up on the iPod after eject.

  • Lost 500mb of space after syncing ipod touch 4g

hello guys. i synced my ipod touch 4g yesterday to remove a single photo. my ipod has no songs, videos or anything else. after syncing, i was notified that i have a little space left (the one which asks you to go to settings or something, i forgot.) i got 600+mb b efore and i have 100 after. can i still take it back? it has only 8gb. i checked the other with phonecleaner and after cleaning, it doesnt reduce the "other" space. is there anything i can do with it? because my ipod has only 8gb of storage and every little bit of space help. thanks and sorry for my bad english

    OTHER
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • After switching from Windows to Mac, my iPod says "No Music"

I have an 80GB iPod Classic. I used to use a Windows machine, but recently switched to a MacBook Pro. Last night, I copied all of my music over to my Mac, and added some new stuff since I have more hard drive space now. I synced the iPod. All of the files are showing up in the iPod file browser within iTunes. So the media is there. However, when the device is ejected, the only media it says is available is photos.  Meanwhile, it does say that I have used 68GB.
Although I have never had a problem with the device, I feared there could be a hardware issue, so I ran the onboard diagnostics. The results were:
    For Retracts: 9
    For Reallocs: 16
These numbers are low, so I don't think it's hard drive failure.
Do I need to do anything to reformat to Mac, other than what I did within iTunes?
Please help. I'm bored and need my iPod to work!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi!
Make sure you authorize the new MacBook  iTunes first, and you're good to go, no need to reformat! Hope this helps!

  • Some video podcasts won't sync after using iPod to move music to new comput

    Hi -
I used my iPod to move my music (and podcasts) to a new computer (from a PC laptop to a Mac Pro). Now when I try to resync it (on either computer) some video podcasts are not synched from iTunes to the iPod. In some cases, all podcasts from the same subscription fail to sync; in other cases, some podcasts synch and others from the same subscription don't. All of the podcasts that fail to synch are video podcasts.

yeah i'm having the exact same problem so thought i'd up this rather than start a new thread. for me, one particular video subscription won't sync at all, and another is fine apart from three videos. particularly annoying as it took an absolute age to actually download them, and now they won't sync.
    anyone got any bright ideas?

  • Misleading warning message after syncing iPod touch via iTunes

I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.02 and am using iTunes 9.2.1 on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.4
When I sync my iPod Touch via iTunes, by clicking the Sync button ( and without changing any settings on the iPod Touch ) I get the following strange situation.
In the middle of the sync process, the Sync button in iTunes is replaced by a Cancel button and an Apply button.
After the syncing process is completed, if instead of ejecting the iPod touch I select a different row in the Library column of iTunes ( such as Podcasts or Music ), I got a popup warning message that says:
"You have changed the settings for the iPod "iPod touch". Would you like to apply these changes?"
I am presented with two buttons labeled respectively: Apply and Don't Apply.
My question is: Snce I have not changed any settings on my iPod, but only have synced podcasts and music and apps (whatever has changed in iTunes) why am I being told that I have changed the settings on my iPod?

You've posted in the WRONG forum. You won't get any help here unless your question is about Apple's server hardware.

  • Songs missing after syncing iPod

The title of this post is a bit of a simplification of various problems I seem to be having with iTunes. The story is as follows:
1 I run ivolume periodically to equalise sound levels. However the last time I ran it it quit unexpectedly and I subsequently found that a song file wouldn't play. After I deleted this file then the next one in the library wouldn't play.
2 After repeating this process a few times, I decided instead to delete my entire iTunes library, wipe the disk partition it sits on completely clean and restore a fresh iTunes music folder from a backup
3 After doing this normal service was resumed
4 However when I synced my iPod for the first time after doing this, only about 700 of my 1000+ songs appeared on the iPod and back in my iTunes library. Plus I got a message post-syncing about 'not being able to write to the disk' (I think that's what it was.) I couldn't see any of the missing songs in the underlying file structure in my iTunes music folder so presumed them missing
5 I was about to restore my library from backup again but upgraded to iTunes 7.3 first. This had the effect of restoring all my songs back into my library (presumably because the new software reorganised or replaced the library file?)
So now everything is back to normal except that, after a fresh back up, my backup programme reported that the DS store file for some of my songs couldn't be backed up due to errors.
I now want to re-sync my iPod and am planning to restore the iPod first to its factory settings in order to try to avoid my songs going missing again.
But -before I do- does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? And whether I should be doing anythng else? And are the DS store files a problem?

It sounds like you the MacBook Air was not your syncing computer. You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer but you can manage music and videos manually among different computers/libraries.To do that
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

  • How to sync iPod without losing music? (Lost external hard drive, which I used as a source)

I stored my iTunes library on my external hard drive, which held music purchased through iTunes, other sources, and personal music files.
My external hard drive recently broke. I will have to rebuild my library, but I have some things I'd like to add to my iPod. If I sync it now (the songs still show up in my library on iTunes, but there are no files to support them), will I lose all those? Previously, there have been times where I synced my iPod without my external hard drive and it kept them as long as I didn't delete them from the library or uncheck them. The only thing was that if I did remove them, I wouldn't be able to put them back. Does it still work like that?
I'd rather not risk all my music to put 4 songs on, if it won't work, you know?

Try syncing using the manual method

However, the rebuilding you did may have resulted in the iPod seeing the library as a new library. You can only sync with one library/computer. In that case:
