After the battery ends, the database of iphot who is in a external HD, is corrupt

I have 147 Gb in the iphoto library, and it's in a externasl Hard Disk. Today, the battery is finished and now the database is corrupted.I can't open the actual iphotolibrary. The solutions of iphoto (open with alt+command) and select all the options, don't repair may iphoto.
What can i do?

Give this a try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

After the database what's next?

Please refer me to the right forum if this is not the one.
I am developing a web application and have no experience at all. Every step of the production is a steep learning curve. I have my database running properly with some triggers and procedures. Now I need to use some tool to inquire the database and create a web forms with the info from some tables. The user alternatives (drop boxes)for the form must be records from my tables. Their selections are input for another table.
What is my best alternative to develop this portion? I currently have win xp home ed running Ora 9.2., perl, apache (2 services the http that comes with Ora and the one I installed first). Don't have java, but whatever came with Ora 9.2 (which I'm not clear how much I can do with it). Will greatly appreciate some light.

My iMac4 has depleted its disk space, a fter numerous rebuilds the database is still generating error messages My external HD is basically my storage for all data. Is it feasible to purchase Memory...?

If this is a viable option how would I connect the memory in an effort to purchase additional disk space and upgrade to Lion? I currently use Snow Leopard as my OS but there are too many compatibility issues to consider. Thank you for your response. Cheers.

You are confusing RAM (Random Access Memory) with data storage space on a hard drive.
Cloud ( offsite server data storage) services to purchase remote data storage are NOT going to help you with this issue.
You need to free up disk space on your Mac's internal hard drive.
Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a computer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto or Aperture, both have its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you are an iMovie/ Final Cut user, both apps have their own individual Trash location that needs to be emptied, too!
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.

When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

If you make movies on any iDevices using iMovie for iOS,, then transfer the video footage, the IOS version of iMovie saves the footage as a movie file in IPhoto for IOS and will automatically get transferred to iPhoto for the Mac when you upload the video from your iDevice.
Newer versions of iMovie will work and link those video files found in your iPhoto Library on your Mac, but those links can be lost if you move your iPhoto library and you will not be able to relink that video afterwards as the current versions of iMovie seem to not have a relink option for the video portion of the files (ironically, current versions of iMovie HAVE the ability to re-link the audio files from the video footage, though (The inability to re-link the video files could be a possible bug or oversight in current versions iMovie).
The lost video links show up as "blacked-out" video blocks with no content.
Before moving the iPhoto Library
If you make movies with iMovie using iPad or iPhone video then 'Consolidate' the files before you finish. This will gather (albeit by duplicating) all the relevant files in the project in one place. After consolidating/duplicating all of the audio and video footage to a seperate, independent location,it should be safe to move your iPhoto library.
The potential way to circumvent this issues maybe to try and import iPad and iPhoto video directly into iMovie which would be another solution.

Disable scheduler jobs during the database refresh

I have a strange issue. We have certain jobs scheduled which monitor other jobs and when they aren't running, they send emails using utl_smtp to the whole DBA group. All is working fine on Production but the moment we restore the database to QA, and soon after the database is recovered, it sends an email saying the those jobs aren't running..
How do I disable the scheduler jobs ? Can it be done while the database is in mount state ? Or, is there any parameters to do so ?

Although you can't disable the entire scheduler, you can disable individual jobs or all jobs in a job class using dbms_scheduler.disable which will prevent the jobs from running (but not stop already running jobs).
It should be straightforward to have a table of jobs that should be disabled and have procedures which run over the table either disabling or enabling them.

Unfortunately, this is not a clearly or fully explained concept in the BC400 class.
As stated in the course text, the ITAB will have the "order" of the DB table.
This may or may not be in actual key order. It depends on whether or not the primary key index is ALWAYS kept up to date / ordered by your DBAs.
This is rarely done as it is very "expensive" to the system... vitually impossible to be truthful.
Because of this, you can never GUARANTEE in a Production system that all records are stored in a primary key order. To guarantee ordering, you must FORCE the system to order the result set through:
ORDER BY
or
SORT after the database retrieval is completed and the result set is returned to the App server

Can you run ADDM from the dbconsole?
Also you can run sql tuning advisor.
However, its worth checking your diskgroups.
Can you post Mountpoints defined in /etc/vfstab ?

Can't Start the database

Environment: RedHat 6.2/ORCL 8.1.6
I installed 8.1.6, and it appeared to go well. After the database creation, I was able to login from remote machines to my instance. I performed the post install dbora, and the system seemed ok.
However, after restarting the machine I don't seem to be able to start the database. Issueing a command such as: dbstart returns the string: dbstart: command not found
If I issue the command: /u01/oracle/data816/bin/dbstart &
the computer returns: [1] 799
This doesn't appear to do anything useful. Of course, now that I try to connect there is an error called "no listner"

If you open the dbstart script you will see a block of code that looks like this:

the problem is in the second if statement. It looks for svrmgrl to spit out some text with "PL/SQL Release" or "PL/SQL Version" in it. Which it does not svrmgrl spits out Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release so what you have to do is change it to look for Edition Release by checking the sub string.

RDA ---Can not connect to the database

I am trying to generate an RDA output for ORACLE SUPPORT
Database:10.2.0.4
Server: Win 32bit SP1
STEP 1: ran rda.cmd -S to collect config info
STEP2: run rda.cmd to generate output
at this time it asks me the password of the system username as sysdba and errors out saying

Well, I'm not sure if Oracle can't even figure it out. I found this in a connection troubleshooting guide specific to windows....maybe give these a try just to verify again.

If RDA is unable to connect to the database, and the user is declared as a SYSDBA user when running the setup, ensure that a connection is possible with as the user using AS SYSDBA. For example, if SYSTEM is specified as the username, make sure that you can connect using the following command in sqlplus:

If you cannot connect, run the setup again and answer N to that question, or edit the setup file (setup.cfg) and set SYSDBA_USER=0. You can also use the 'TSTdb' test module to obtain more elements on the connection problem. This test can be performed using the following command(s):
For Windows run:
rda.cmd -T TSTdb or rda.pl -T TSTdb
For Unix run:
rda.sh -T TSTdb or rda.pl -T TSTdb
If you use TWO_TASK enviroment variable is used to connect to the database, then unset TWO_TASK and run RDA on the server local to the database. This is necessary because RDA depends on a local connection to the database, and automatically unsets TWO_TASK before performing any function.

Applying the arch logs after the full backup

DB version:10GR2
In NOCATALOG mode, I am going to take a full backup (Hot) of DBx (800gb) using the command

backup as compressed backupset database tag 'full' plus archivelog;
}and restore it into DBy.
But how can i apply the archive logs generated in DBx during the full backup after the full backup?
The restored control file doesn't know about these archived logs. Right?

with controlfile autobackup off, the backup will be 'complete', as backing up a whole database means backing up it's system tablespace(1 st datafile to be exact, which is the part of system tablespace)The SYSTEM datafile (or multiple datafiles in SYSTEM) may be the first or the second or the nth datafile to be backed up. The BackupSet consisting of multiple backup pieces may have other tablespaces backed up after the SYSTEM datafile. Those other tablespaces and possible redo log switches have timestamps which succeed the SYSTEM datafile backup . Therefore, those other tablespaces and redo log switches are not captured in that controlfile backup that was included with the SYSTEM datafile.
(Yes, I know we can use the controlfile backup --- but I am just pointing out that this doesn't meet the OP's requirement that the controlfile be aware of all redologs that have been switched during or after the database backup).

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down. You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

Refresh jTable after inserting new data into the Database

Hey all,
I'm using Netbeans 6.5 to create a Desktop Application which is connected to a Java DB (Derby).
The first simple steps were all very successfull:
Create the jTable and bind it to the Database => everything works fine. When the application starts it correctly shows all data from the database.
The problem starts when I try to insert new data to the database.
For that reason I've created textfields and a button "Save". When I press the button it successfully inserts the data to the database but they are not displayed in the jTable (when the application starts they are all there, they are not updated at runtime) . I've tried table.invalidate() and table.repaint() but they just don't work.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. But please have in mind that most of the code is Netbeans-generated and most of it not editable.

Once again you are right my friend. I jumped to conclusion way too fast, when I shouldn't. (Give me a break, I've been busting my head with this well over a week). The response I saw when I did that was that indeed a line is added to the jTable. Because I falsly set the index of the object to be added to be second to last the row appeared on the table, what I didn't see at the time was that the last one disappeared. Hmm...

... and a lot morewhich from my poor understanding means that the jTable succesfully notices the change but it is not able (??) to adjust to the new change. What is more interesting is that when I plainly add the element to the end of the list (without an idex that is), a blank row appears at the end of my Table. The weird thing is that I've bound the table to some text fields below it, and when I select that empty row all the data appear correctly to the text fields.
I tried going through:

After I hv upgraded os 6 on my iPhone 4, iPhone hung up at least one per day. After u press "End" 2 times( i used to do this in the old os) or when u slide to unlock - the screen suddenly enlarge . I need to reset the phone whenever this happen. Pls help

Displaying photographs , after fething from the database

1st of all, I will assume, since you are mentioning NetBeans so prominantly in your post, that you are trying to use the GUI developer in NetBeans--my advice to this would be: "Stop it. Stop it right now!" You need to learn how to develop a basic 2D application in Java manually--at your experience level the path you are on, using the GUI developer in NetBeans, will only lead you down a path of frustration, confusion, and eventual failure. It is a tool for the most minimal of developement or for the advanced user to use--IMO any other use of the GUI developer in NetBeans will only hinder your process.
Suggestions on what to use so far have been very good--read them over and consider them.
Here are my comments on the actual development:
Since you are using a DB, you have a lot of versatility--are you saving a thumbnail or small scale of your images? I would suggest you do so to allow some type of preview so all of the full images do not have to be fetched from the DB every time.
You should consider what is a basic element for your picture entry--picture and comment box? This can easily be implemented using 2 JPanels and a textbox--JPanel as a container for the 2nd JPanel seperate text box. You can make these into a class and populate them from the DB easily.

How to disconnect from the Database after signing out in ADF

I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3 to develop ADF and JSF applications on Oracle Database.
I'm using dynamic credentials, the user can connect to the database as the database user. So different users can be connected to the database when you check the current database connections in the V$sessions. I'm using application pool.
Upon signing out, i want to kill the Database connection associated with the application model that the user was using.
I tried both the resetState() in the DCDataControl and invalidateSessionAndRedirect() but they both perform session timeout and move the application model back to the pool together with connection so that if another session with the same username/databasename couple is opened , then it can use the same application model in the pool.
In my case, i want to disconnect and remove the Database connection from the V$sessions upon siging out.

Refering to the document "Understanding Application Module Pooling Concepts and Configuration Parameters" by Steve Muench,
If jbo.doconnectionpooling=true, then each time a user session finishes using an AM (typically at the end of each HTTP request), the AM instance disassociates itself with the JDBC connection it was using on that request and it returns it to the JDBC connection pool.
I don't want to unplug the AM from the Database connnection and move it back to the database pool when each request is finished.
I want to disconnect the Database connection and remove it from the v$session upon signing out from the application, NOT only move it back to the database pool.
I want this because i use dynamic credentials and when the user X1 signout from the application and user X2 signs in, it will NOT use the database connection that was used by X1 because the application connects as the database user. In other words, 2 database connection will be found after this scenario.
