After the installation of win7 with bootcamp Lion stops booting at apple logo. Any help to fix this ?

I installed Windows 7 with Bootcamp on a new iMac 21inch with Lion. Everything went well. While running win7 I installed some software like Daemon Tools and Fear 3. It runs perfectly. When I reboot into Lion (throught Bootcamp) the computer stops at the Apple logo. It stays there for hours. I checked and restored the Macintosh HD but it keeps hanging. After restoring a backup with timemachine everthing works fine and the computer boots into Lion. Rebooting in Windows is working, but again when I reboot into Lion it stops at the Apple logo. Anyone can help me fix this ?

I have trouble understanding
When or how ?
When you SET LION to be the default startup disk / OS from Windows Taskbar? from Windows control panel "Boot Camp" where you can also set the default?
If you have any external drives, disconnect them, and anything else.
If you set Lion to be the default in Lion System Preferences control panel "startup disk" - then boot into Windows using Alt or Control panel, then let it restart itself and go into Mac OS X.
Normally trouble booting Mac OS is due to a check disk going on, dirty file system journal directory or from forced hard restarts.
Boot into Recovery Partition Mode and check your partitions and repair. Command R
There are details though that are probably missing.

Thank you for all of your answer.

I've seen it mentioned on here that a PRAM reset may solve it:
    Reset PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

Ok, maybe it isn't rubber but it felt like it. Maybe it is felt or something similar. But you can see in the photos what the problem is. I am just afraid that the piece is going to get jammed into the super drive and really screw it up. Thanks for investigating.

  • My Macbook pro 13 inch is stuck on a gray screen with the apple logo, how do I fix this?

Sooo, I was using my laptop for a while and the charger was kind of broken, it was dip in and out, and slowly I got a "Service Battery" notification. I updated my system and now everytime I try to boot up my computer it'd show a gray screen with the apple logo and a loading bar with a circular loading icon but it never actually boots up. It stays stuck at that loading screen. I don't think it's because I uploaded my system that it happened, but I'm wondering if it's because I didn't change my charger/battery, and I'm wondering if I have to get the harddrive changed or is there a way for me to recover my files and whatnot without having to whip it. Please help, and thanks in advice to any help offered.

    Dwaniej,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the  OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get past the grey screen now?

  • 4s bricked after trying new update, stuck with black screen with apple logo how can i fix this

    Update bricked my 4s
phone , stuck with black screen with apple logo ..
    how can I fix this

    Greetings r1042,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPhone is not booting up past the Apple logo. In this situation, I would recommend working through the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • My ipod touch is stuck on the apple logo, how can i fix this?

My ipod touch wasnt working so I tried resetting it, now it is stuck on the apple logo. I tried connecting it to itunes but it is not showing up.  Any ideas?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Sounds as if you're having a problem with your GPU (graphics card). Only Apple can diagnose and fix this, so the best thing would be to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • My MacBook Air won't start it's grey with apple logo Howe do I fix this?

I have 2008 MacBook Air today I can't start up. When I press the power button it shows gray screen with apple logo and that thing spinning . How do I fix this?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Boot into Recovery again. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
    Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • When loading any page with Flash content Firefox will always crash. Any Ideas to fix this?

The issue occured following upgrading to 3.6.13 from the previous version.
Firefox will not crash if the Adobe Flash plugin is disabled. I have uninstalled and re-installed Flash player & Firefox, both of which did not solve the problem.
The issue is not present within the latest versions of IE, Chrome, Opera or Safari.
Any help to possibly solve this problem would be greatly appriciated?

  • The latest version of firefox makes my screen view smaller. I do not like this. The toolbar has changed to a way I do not like it. Help me fix this or I'm going back to use the microsoft explorer, and I haven't used that in years.

Regarding this latest edition of firefox: How do I fix the top of my mozilla firefox browser so there is not 1.25 inches of my screen a wasted dead space at the top? How do I move the 'home' button back to the left side?

Thanks but you're only telling me stuff I already know, that dosen't explain how I get the new version of Firefox to look neat and tidy like it always used to. I can no longer have all my icons that I use, I can no longer access things as easily as I could and the whole thing looks very bare and basic now! A bigger mess than even Google Chrome.
I've spent most of this evening trying to get stuff back that is now lost because of this 'upgrade' and I'm now giving up with it. Well done! You've totally ruined what was the best browser for years.

  • I updated to Firefox 4 and ever since it won't open. It says the process is running but no matter how long I wait it won't open the browser and restarting or ending the process and trying again doesn't work either. Is there any way to fix this?

I thought it might be a compatibility issue with Windows Vista but the same problem happened on a computer with Windows 7. I'm not sure if the Windows 7 problem was resolved, though.

You probably have other problems but for a start right click on your task bar and click on Start Task Manager. In "Applications" if Firefox is shown, click on "End Task". In "Processes" if Firefox.exe is shown, click on "End Process" and ignore the warning and click"End Process" again. Wait for a few seconds then start Firefox in the usual way. There is a chance that this may solve your problems.
If not, you probably will need to do a complete uninstall and re-install. If you can't start Firefox you could try starting in Safe Mode - Hold down Shift key as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens>and Continue. If you've been able to open Firefox you could work through this Troubleshooting Procedure -

If at any stage you are not making progress, report back here for best advice on an Uninstall/Re-install which is quite likely to be necessary.
