After troubleshooting and updating and even calling customer service I still cannot receive or send text messages. whats the deal?

My blackberry curve wont let me receive or send text messages

    This very strange JulianPrice! When did this messaging issue start? Are you able to send /receive message to any contact? Is this issue with SMS only or MMS as well?     I originally restored my phone after music and videos iTunes said had synced were not showing up on my phone - sorted that problem, now this.

    This may sound dumb, but if you can't send or receive any texts at all, someone in another thread mentioned shutting down, taking out the SIM card, reinserting, and rebooting.  If that doesn't work try putting the SIM in another phone then putting it back in the iPhone.  If it still doesn't work ask the provider for a new SIM.
    Also, I don't understand why iPhone doesn't allow MMS without data.  MMS was DESIGNED to be sent as a text message and it works on regular "dumb" phones with no data.  This is not new technology yet iPhone is purposely blocking it.  That is ridiculous.  You can see from the following table that this is what Apple wants:

    (As a side note, you can also see from the table they are intentionally blocking the ability to send a text to an email address even though that too is not a new feature, and that too works in other phones.)

    Wi-Fi has nothing to do with making/receiving calls, or sending/receiving text messages... those features only work over the cellular network.
    Have you contacted the carrier to rule out network issues or swap out the SIM card to eliminate that as a possibility?
    What about Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?

    On your phone, dial *228
    Select option 2 when prompted
    Listen to be advised that the update was successful
    The device will power off and on (if this is not completed automatically, complete is manually)
    Once the device is power back, go ahead and check to see if you are able to send and receive picture messages and that your 3G is working properly. If not, here is a link to additional troubleshooting information:

  • Need info on who to call or write in order to receive reading of text messages

    I have heard from SEVERAL people that it is possible to get a reading of your text messages from Verizon if you are the account holder.  I have also heard that it may take some persistance in order to get this information & it is available w/o a court order if you are requesting you OWN information.  What number do I call or who do I write in order to be able to get this information IF is is indeed possible??  THX!

    Try going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".   If that doesn't work, you'll have to tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different Apple ID for iMessage.

  • My phone (4S, iOS 6) will only send text messages instead of iMessage to one particular contact (iPhone 5). Why this? We are both able to iMessage all our other iOS 5 and 6 contacts!

    We also tried to deactivate and activate iMessage in "Settings", but still it will only send text messages.. We have tried within wifi-areas as well.

    No, you can't. Your friend would have to do that. The fact that she has turned iMessage off should do this.

    My wife is having the exact same issue after updating to the new iOS 8.1.1 and we've tried all the same steps even restoring the phone as a new phone. We've contacted our service provider and they've told us to go to apple to potentially "remove" her serial number from their servers to allow it to work properly on the service we have. We are desperate as purchasing a new phone right now is not an option and she desperately needs her phone for work and life.

    Try deleting the accounts and setting them back up again on the iphone.

    How come every time I call *611 or 18009220204 from my cell phone. It directs me to the *611 app. Then at the very bottom of the app, it says "call customer service" then I'm directed to enter my billing pin. Then it just cycles after I enter it back to the *611 app. Why am I unable to call customer service any more?? Very very frustrating. This app definitely has a glitch obviously and I need to speak with someone.

    Seems like people having this problem are those coming from a phone that doesn't have a nano SIM card...so when Verizon issues them one they end up changing their plan. No clue why this keeps happening but stay on top of them. As long as you initiated the request for your plan to be reinstated within the 14 day time frame they should put it back. Interested in seeing how this plays out. There is still one phone in my house that hasn't been upgraded (an iPhone 4). I'm hoping when we do upgrade it at full retail they won't mess with her unlimited data plan
