I am attempting to update a plug-in, and have no password to my knowledge. When I try to get one, the system reports that they have emailed one, but nothing is there when I check my mail. I have been through the process twice with no result. Please tell me what to do. Thank you, Robbie Borchers.

After updating to Snow Leopard (to install Lion later), Safari and other aplications became super super slow and Preview is not working properly, I can't print anything that was opened with Preview. Already installed the Combo update, nothing happened, Safari still taking hours to load any site. I honestly regret downloading Snow Leopard, the older version worked so much better... Hope Lion is smarter than Snow Leopard...

My iMac was installed by the shop (Dick Smith) where I bought it. I need to install an update on the Mac. When I try to install it it asks for my password. I don't know where to find this. There is a File on the system called 'Terminal' which contains what looks like a pasword in it but this one doesn't work. Help please!
If you never password enabled your iMac just hit the return key when prompted for the password.

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. It's likely that a developer of one or more of these will post a response with a link (possibly hidden) to their "product". It may help to turn iTunes Match off, then back on.
Windows: While holding down the shift key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.

Indesign CS6 quits during document recovery, even after restart. How do I get out of this cycle?
I was saving a document when it originally quit. so "locked" file appeared in directory as well as reg file.
Upon restart of InDesign, recovery failed and software quit again.
Restarted computer, then indesign, file opens but as soon as I select "recover" it sends a message that indesign needs to close.
I cannot seem to get out of this cycle. Help.Use your operating system’s Search utility to find a folder called (InDesign Recovery) and delete it.

That password should be the one you used on the system *before* you do the upgrade.

I'm trying to install windows 8 on mac, but after partitioning and restarting, it stucks on blue logo and i waited 20 minutes but nothing happened, what can i do, please help.
I think there's some remmants left over from when Apple transferred stuff over. We can try a quick fix, but if that doesn't work, I think the only option is to clean install OSX and then install Windows.
open disk utility, confirm that you only have 1 partition (mac journaled)
restart and PRAM reset
open disk utility and repair permissions twice
restart boot camp assistant
Does it work?
If not, I would boot holding command+R, choose disk utility from the menu and completely erase your HD (formatting it as mac journaled again). Then, install OSX on this HD. Once OSX is installed, don't copy your files over from the backup yet. Instead, start boot camp assistant and see if you can get Windows installed. You can copy back your other files after we get Windows installed. -

There's no way anyone here will know the password to that network. If this is your own home network, the password would be whatever you set up on the WiFi router. If you've forgotten it, you'll have to reset the router. Consult the router documentation. If this is a commercial WiFi network you're trying to access, contact whoever runs the network.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.

Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
2. wait for terminal show
3. release keys
4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
5. press enter
6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
7. press enter
8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
9. press enter
This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.

Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
1. Reboot
2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
* mount -uw /
* rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
* shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
