after typing url into address bar & hitting enter, nothing happens. firefox will not take me to the web address i typed. this started yesterday

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

Have you tried to start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]?
What about [[Managing profiles]]?
Try to download the latest Firefox (3.6.4) from website. I hope your settings will not be lost; possibly, it was something with network connection, and Firefox updated only one half of itself; that's why I recommend to download it from website and install manually.

After rebooting following an update firefox will not open how do I fix this?

I clicked on a firefox update window that led to me rebooting my laptop. After rebooting I cannot get firefox to open no matter what I do.I even uninstalled it then re-installed it. Firefox will not recognize java plugin that has been installed and worked 1 day ago.

I have an IMac with OSX 10.5.8, Firefox 5.0, One day ago it worked fine, today when going to a specific site that requires Java, Firefox will not recognize that Java is installed. I checked for updates and there are none. Java is installed and the site works fine with Safari, which requires Java as well. How can i get Firefox to recognize Java installation.

Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
The Java Plugin2 plugin is still there, but he softlink to it has been removed with this update, so Firefox doesn't find the plugin.
There will be fix for this in the next release (Firefox 5.0.1 or 6), so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with that JP2 plugin (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6 for OS X 10.5 users with an Intel Mac).

After I updated Windows my Firefox will not load completley, the page is nothing but boxes.

I updated windows 2 days ago and since then all of the pages I try to go to will not load up properly. Everything on the page is boxed off. I am using Windows Vista and have 4.01 Firefox. I already looked at my add-ons and removed or disabled the things that said they were not compatible.

Did you remove the Firefox program folder before reinstalling Firefox?
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

After Upgrading to new version Firefox will not open at all

I am running Windows 7 - 64 bit version. Firefox prompted me to upgrade to the new version, which I did. It downloaded straightaway but after I installed it the programme does not appear on screen at all. This hapenned several weeks ago so I uninstalled it and went back to an earlier version. Now I cannot work out how to do this again, so I am stuck without Firefox altogether.

Firefox crashed. Closed all my windows - did the auto update thingy with accompanying message. Brought up the windows that had closed as usual - all said "problem loading page". After the last upgrade, my firefox will not open. Task manager says it is running, but I get nothing.

I finally allowed the last update to run... upon completion, my browser window would not open. I rebooted, got the window to open but had no function on the navigation bar. The only way I could navigate the web was to go to my home page, google, search for the web page and click on the results. Refresh also would not work. I did another reboot and now I'm back to no visual evidence of the browser window being open. It seems like every update for the past few months crashes my ability to utilize my add-ons and my ability to see video is almost always compromised. After a service provider crash, Firefox will not start.

When trying to launch Firefox, I get an error message that Firefox creashed. I have two options, restart Firefox or Quit Firefox. Neither option works, Keeps kicking me back to the error message

After several opening and closing of Firefox several time it will not open when I click on the desk top icon. When on my secondary monitor, firefox will not perform any action that opens a new window (View page source, show all bookmarks, etc).

I'm using Mac OSX with Firefox 5, but also had this problem with Firefox 4.
I use an external monitor as my primary monitor and my laptop monitor as a secondary. When the window is on the secondary monitor, I can't open new windows to do things such as view source and manage bookmarks.
Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Both Firefox and IE have the same problem. The cursor instead of being a finger when pointing to a link is still an arrow. However I can click anywhere on the page and an ad will pop up. I have eliminated all unwanted bars in Firefox, I ran Malwarebytes until it came out clean. I also have AVG which had detected a few items on it's own. But when I get into Firefox I still have exactly the same problem. Now it will not let me download Browser Safeguard. Usually after one click the pointer returns to normal for a few screens. When I try to click to download Browser Safeguard it keeps bringing up different ads or it tries to get me to upgrade Firefox or some other browser helper program which I know are all BS tactics to get me to load their junk again. PLease help I'm an engineer and pretty good with PCs but this one has me beat at least so far.

Firefox will not load up now that I have switchede from dialup to broadband

I have Gateway with Vista Ultimate. Main ISP is AOL. After AOL I have always gone to Firefox. Now that I recently switched from dial up to broadband with ZoomTown in Cincinnati OH Firefox will no longer load up. Help, please.

After download newest itunes software itunes will not sync the music that i have on my dell to the apple tv however i can get the music i have purchased from i tunes. Applet tells me i will have to reload all the music that was not purchased from itunes.
