  • Sudden battery drain/not charging/lost Wifi

Hi, Over the last 24 hours i've notice my Xperia Z2's battery is draining very quickly, even when asleep. Even when it is plugged in charging, i keep getting messages saying the phone is unable to charge as it is using too much power. And previously i could charge the phone overnight fully, now it doesnt get close to 40% In addition to this ive noticed it is kicking out a lot of heat at the top of the phone, and also i can no loger connect to the internet via wifi. Everything else seems ok, and i have managed to back up my data to an sd card. I havent added any new apps recently. I've had the phone for less than a year and as far as i know it hasnt had any heavy drops or anything. Has anyone got any cheap fix ideas or will it need to be sent of for repair? Thanks in advance Simon

Hi Simon, first thing i would do is try running it in Safe Mode fo a while.....even tho you've not added any new Apps lately there could be one acting up, Sfe Mode will determine this............if no difference then my next step would be to do a PCC Repair but just double check that you do as mentioned have everything backed up. Keep us updated  http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008 http://support.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

  • Battery does not charge after rescue & recovery

    Hi,
Yesterday I set up my computer fresh from the preload on the harddrive due to slowness, instabilities, inability to use VPN etc. After the reinstallation of OS and securiy updates, my battery does not charge anymore. The battery indicator on the front panel keeps blinking, and the Lenovo message center reports that irrepairable damage has been done to the battery and that it must be replaced.
My battery is not among the recalls by Lenovo.
Any idea if there's any option but buying a new battery? It just does not seem right that the battery is unusable after new OS setup.
    Cheers, Thorbjorn

Of course it isn't — you've just drained it. Plug your AC adapter in and charge it up again.

hi, i was trying to look for the "ENERGY MANAGER" but i couldn't find it. also i searched it by typing but it's not showing, do you thing it has been deleted when the 8.1 was installed?

This setting is designed to help conserve the health of your battery if you tend to use your laptop while plugged in.  It's not good for the battery to be held at 100% for long periods of time, so instead this setting stops chargins when the battery reaches 60% to prevent battery damage.

  • Battery is not charging after once full discharge

    hi,
I have Z60m 2530-A58 which is not charging it says: battery error has occured replace the battery , after once it was fully discharge to 0% but my notebook was only 1.5 year old what problem has occured can anyone suggest me pls......................
pls help i am using ubuntu 8.10 and windows xp both

Ok, I assume motherboard is aged or damaged somehow. Maybe it has been on plug for four or five years. It is late 2006's model.
First of all, I was be able to see it charging while it was connected to the MagSafe Power Adapter 85w then I close the lid and put it aside on the end table. I did not touch it for a few days. The white led was on in first few days then it become dim and fade out. I was puzzled and looked at the MagSafe Power Adapter connector on the MacBook Pro. It shows green led, which is still on power.
Secondly, I decided to open it and nothing happens then pressed the power button. It will boot up and open from the beginning. It did not hibernate or showing as resume after shutdown. I looked at the bottom of MacBook Pro's battery area. I press the small button to see how much battery left. It was on dead zero. This is why I called it drained out power.
Thirdly, I decided to check the Apple website to see what's wrong with it. Most of the forums said that SMC needs to be reseted since I could see the X mark on the battery icon. After I reseted the SMC, I could see the "Battery is not charging".
If I unplugged the connector, it will lose the power and shut down immediately without being shutdown properly.
    Hmm?

  • My battery is not charging(blinking orange) after once full discharge and shutdown

one day, i have forgotton the battery doesn't have enough charging and i have opened my X61.
after recovery from hibernate, i saw the power had only 0%.
then it shudown before i try to hibernate it again.
almost half month after, today i found the battery is not charging and keep blinking orange.
the power manager show this message.
"Irreparable damage to the battery has been detected. replace the battery with a new one"
my battery is manufactured by Sony but not on the list of "battery recall"
i bought it for about 1 yr 3 mths only and my battery has only 15 cyclecount...
is there any way to get the battery recovery again??

How long was it off charge to drop from 5149 to 1054 mAh on the battery?
If not actually doing anything looks like a good reason to visit an Apple Retail store genius bar and have it checked.

  • Battery will not charge. and other issues

Well i'm working on a friend of mines notebook, its a n100 model 0768 12u running windows xp. This is the situation so far. First his hard drive had fried so i replaced that and put the o.s. back on it,but now the battery will not charge. also the wireless network card and dvd drive did not work. I had originally thought that they might have fried as well when the hard drive went down. However I looked through the forums here and found that alot of people solved the battery issue simply by replacing the battery i recommended that. He purchased a replacement battery ( not a genuine lenovo battery, don't know if that makes a difference) and when i put it in the dvd drive and the network card started working no problem. But alas the battery still would not charge. the system runs fine without a battery in it, but if i put the battery in it while its running it turns itself off after about 30 seconds of having the battery in. when the system is powered off and i put the battery in the battery lcd in front blinks 5 times orange then nothing for about 30 seconds then 5 more times. maybe thats a trouble code, don't know, looked all oover the forums and couldn't find anything quite like it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
     thanks
    Steve

    Duck3,
Glad that worked for you!  Thanks for sharing here.
I saw a weird situation on friend's ThinkPad recently - a replacement battery arrived with a 37% charge (not 100% deliberately as somewhere around 40% is the best for shelf life), but it would not accept a charge.   We did a reset by removing the battery & AC and pressing and holding the power button a number of times  (some people say 10 times, some two or three times for a count of 5 or 10).   This drains residual capacitance.
We plugged back in the battery and AC and it began to charge.
Might be worth a try here before he opens it up ....

  • Battery does not charge

I use an HP Pavillion G with an AMD processor. At a certain point, my battery stopped charging. I had previoulsy upgraded the computer to Windows 8. While still using the Windows 8 OS, the battery issue emerged. The taskbar said the batter is plugged in but not charging. I read some forums and took some advice to reset the battery and to release its charge. No luck. I also read that a BIOS update from HP could help this issue. My computer wouldn't boot after the BIOS update. I was able to use the recovery system to return the computer to its original Windows 7 settings (silver lining). I thought this could potentially solve the problem. No dice. I tried the same solutions that I used originally - still no luck. Now, the taskbar displays the same graphic indicating that the battery is not charging, but when I move my mouse over it, it reads "plugged in and charging." The battery is not charging, however.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your continued help.
Indeed, the battery is closer to a year and a half old. Nonetheless, I haven't experienced something like this with other products, which is what leads me to think there may be a computer-related issue - that, coupled with the connection with Windows 8/8.1. I could very well need a new battery; I am just trying to exhaust options prior to making that purchase and I appreciate your help walking me through these stages.
I did have the HP utility center installed on my computer. It needed an upgrade, so I took care of that. The assistant claims that the battery is charged 100% - this is not confirmed if I unplug the AC adapter. When I ran the battery check, it gives me this message:

  • I've bought my ipod touch 1 week ago, battery drained I charge it,then when I check either it is fully charge it won't turn on at all.PLEASE HELP ME.

  • Satellite A100- New or Old Battery is not charging

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A100-543 (PSAARE).
The original battery was not charging so I purchased a new one. Now the new one is not charging either. I then ordered a new charger before coming to this forum so Ill test that when it arrives but I think the problem will not be solved.
With the new Battery the Icon says "10% Usable, connected, charging". The Icon, when the laptop is first switched on, shows the charge bar moving (charging) but after a few moments stops.
With the old Battery the Icon says " connected, charging". It shows empty.
In both cases the Battery Green LED is on.
If I pull out the charger from the laptop the computer stops immediately.
Trawling the forums I see one proposed solution is a BIOS upgrade. I have BIOS version 5.80
    See: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/05/23/toshiba-satellite-a105-battery-charging-problem/comment-page-19/#comment-151154
However I cannot find my model (as above) on Toshiba's list! It was purchased in France and is out of warranty.
Again I am dubious than this will solve the problem.
Others point to the motherboard. How can I know this? If it is does anybody have an idea of cost?
I do hope that someone can help.
    Henry

I'm not going to immediately help but I think I have the same problem on my A200 Equium model 1V0, running Vista.
Existing battery has gone down to 5% power and of course I get warnings so I run on mains but I can run the laptop on the battery for a few minutes.
The charging light comes on for about 9 seconds and then goes out. The charging status changes from "on mains power, charging 5%" to "on mains power, not charging".
It's odd that I can flip the battery out while the mains is attached and when I re-insert it, there's a charging light and charging status is ok for 9 seconds. If I do this often enough I can boost the battery to 10% but then the charging light only flickers on for a moment and there's no further actual charging. I think the main board charging circuit can't handle any more than a small feedback charge.
I bought a new battery - the laptop won't run on this without mains power (in fact the charging light now only appears for a moment and no charging at all takes place).
I uninstalled and re-installed the power ACPI from device manager - no change.
I turned off laptop, removed battery and mains power and held down the power button for 15 seconds - no change.
I checked my mains adapter using a circuit tester - OK.
Oh, and I updated the BIOS to the latest version 2.5 - no change.
It looks like the main board charging circuit has a fault which is uneconomical to repair.
Unless someone out there knows differently??

hi. my ipad battery is not charging well. max at around 20%. what do i need to do to get it working again?

You may need to recalibrate the battery. See link below.
Are you using the wall charger?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • MBA battery does not charge when connected. Help!

My MBA battery does not charge when connected to the charger. Ive checked the other threads and followed advice but nothing seems to help.. My battery health info is good, I've tried cleaning the magnetic pins of the charger, reset smc but it still does not charge. The light on the charger is green or does not come on sometimes, and it's the same for a few Power outlets. What else can I do? Would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks.

It recognizes the charger intermittently. After cleaning, it showed the charger as connected but not charging the battery. I will try my friends charger later to see if it works. Thanks for your help!
