After update: bugs just turned around: no interlaced output and low quality

Question

After eagerly waiting quite some time for this bugfix (corrupted quicktime output, not deinterlaced) I made my first tries with the update and keep on being frustrated.
a) export in full hd with quicktime with AIC created deinterlaced output even with 1080i checked
b) quality of full HD export is as low as if upscaled from 940*560, i.e. imovie08 exports were much better in the same constellation.
Full HD stays out of reach leaving imovie09 useless for me.
I want my money back.

I hope I have not added to the confusion here but this is what I have found from my own tests.
-You CAN get fully interlaced 1080i output if you do not crop or scale or move your video in any way. I have done this and it works. I THINK the only allowable things in a project will be cross dissolves, fade through white or black and regular titles (non of the theme titles that scale and move the video). I this makes complete sense, as you MUST deinterlace (or drop a field like iMovie) anytime you move/scale or crop interlaced video. The fact that this was NOT happening in 8.0 is why the original interlacing artifact bug was occurring.
-I always remember iMovie '08 dropping a field on export, so I do not think it is any different. I think you are comparing your single field output to the interlaced output of iMovie 08. You can get interlaced output in iMovie '09 (v8.0.1) if you do not break any of the "rules" mentioned above.
-Yes iMovie 6 HD was different. That is because in iMovie 06, it was restricted to a single project format type. In a DV project, everything was DV and everything had to be rendered. In HDV, the same. SO when you chose Full Quality export, it was easy (everything was already DV or HDV etc..). In iMovie 08 and 09, the projects are all format independent and work in real time. What would be full quality output for a project consisting of 1080i, DV, 720p, some web video, a movie trailer and a 320x240 MP4 clip from your digital still camera? See where I'm going with this....
I rarely find anything that I cannot do in iMovie 09, and if I need more professional tools/output, I use FCP. I'm not saying your right or wrong, I'm just trying explain it as I understand it.
Try exporting your 1080i with only Cross Dissolves and regular titles (come to think of it I bet color adjustments and effects will also work, I'll try that next). If you go to 1920x1080, AIC or APpleProRes, you will get 1080i output.
