If you have ios 5.1.1 the output power is 100ma, on the iOS 5.0.1 the power output is 500ma! This may be the cause?

  • Getting photos off iPad onto disc (with new camera connection kit)

I bought the camera connection kit and can't figure out how to get my pictures from iPad on to the 8 GB disk. Any suggestions? The disk is not showing up anywhere. Not in Photos, Settings or anywhere. IU searched here to no avail and online found Dropbox app, but that hasn't worked either. Unless I am missing a step.
    Any suggestions?

can I then put the new disk in my camera
What "disk" are you referring to?
If it's something to do with the camera, you need to refer to the camera manual to see how to load pix onto it.
If it's a SD card, you can get an adapter to plug it into a USB port on the computer.

  • Does the ipad 4 work with the camera connection kit

Is the ipad 4 compatible with the ipad camera connection kit

    Hi
We recently bought the new ipad and I bought the apple lightning to USB camera adaptor with it and plugged it into my camera and it says it requires too much power to connect so I haven't been able to use it? Any suggestions? I also tried plugging a small thumb drive into it to and that said the same thing.. Just want a way of putting photos of the camera onto the ipad. Haven't tried the card reader yet but I don't want to go and buy it and the same problem occur!

  • Camera Connection Kit - Accessory uses too much power

I am trying to import photos from my Kodak EasyShare M873 via the USB connector from the CCK. About a quarter of the way through the import, the iPad disconnects and states, "The attached accessory is using too much power". Is anyone else getting this. I suppose I could just remove the SD card from the camera everytime I want to import. But then what is the point of having the USB adaptor if the iPad can't handle connecting to a semi-low quality consumer camera?

The USB cable is great if the battery is full and you don't have a ton of photos, or if the camera either has photos in its "built-in" memory or doesn't use SD.
PERSONALLY I'm glad they included both, but plan to use only the SD adapter on trips.

PS: It might be interesting, though probably camera-specific, to compare transfers times both ways...

  • IPad 4 with camera connection kit doesn't work with 64GB SDXC card on iOS 7.1.1

I have an iPad 4 and official Apple camera connection kit. Even though ios 7 was supposed to provide compatibility with SDXC cards there is obviously an issue. I'm using 64GB SDXC and 32GB SD cards - both Sandisck Extreme Pro with RAW Canon 5D Mark III files. The 32GB cards work fine - thumbnails appear quickly and pictures import fine. After inserting the 64GB cards thumbnail holders appear very slowly but the thumbnail images do not appear so I cannot import. I'm a pro photographer and I need this functionality so that I can show pictures to clients on location. Any ideas?

Are the photos on the 64GB card in RAW format? If so, this may apply.

  • Camera Connection kit Questions

A few quick questions. I am thinking for a small project for my business I am going to try the following and want to know if it works.
Get the camera connection kit and use it to import my Nikon D7000 pics from it to the iPad. Will I be able to directly import to photogene app? Or does it have to go to the native photo app first then I have to import to photogene?
After I edit and export, can I connect a usb hard drive to the usb adapter and copy the files off? Do I really need to use a computer to get them off?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Well, yes, in the sense that you need a computer to send them to. There are, however, a few apps which will more image files in other ways, say over wifi. You can look at those options once you're set up with getting them onto the ipad, moving them around, editing them, whatever.

  • Camera connection kit issue

    Hi,
Currently I have 2 iPads and after I upgraded one of them to iOS 7 the camera connection kit is recognized into the About section in general section.. But nothing happens on Photo app when I plug it in.
In the other iPad with IOS 6 the camera connection kit is working fine with the same 16gb SD card, and the import window automatically pops up after I plug in the connector showing all the pictures in it (RAW pictures).
    Any advice?

Have old home movies converted on DVD--not sure which format, probably whatever is standard by most conversion services. Will "Handbrake" convert most DVD video files so can be seen on Ipad? If so, is there any easy way to get single image photos from such old movies. Many, many years ago I had a camera type gadget that actually took frame shots, but have never come across anything in modern times to do this from my old Super 8 or DVDs from same. Never understood why Iphoto on Mac not set up to do this--would seem easy to view a single frame?

  • Problem with camera connection kit and IOS 5

Since I upgraded my IPAD 2 to IOS 5 camera connection kit is no longer working properly:
    - when importing from a given CF card for the first time camera connection kit it is working with my camera (Canon EOS 7D)
    - however, as soon as i take additional photos on a non-empty CF card, things start getting weird when importing:
       - duplicates are no longer reliably recognized (some of the photos imported before are indicated as duplicates others not), hence an incremental upload of photos is no longer viable
         - some RAW photos are corrupted during import (it shows an "RAW" icon in the photo app, but no preview and the photo cannot be enlarged)
I never had such problems with IOS 4.x I'm really frustrated about IOS 5.0 since camera conenction kit and the ability to deal with RAW photos were my main reasons to buy an IPAD...
Anybody experiencing  similiar problems? Any viable workarounds?
    Thanks
    Claudio

Friend, you say "The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces)"  What if one has several hundred photos/files. Renameing them on my computer each 8 characters long adds an extension (1), (2), (3), and so on. For example, "JUNE2014(1).  The connection kit won't read the photos due to the extra (1).  How can I fix this without having to rename each of the hundreds of photos one by one?
    Thank you, Cisco.

  • Camera Connection Kit "Using Too Much Power" Error

I'm trying to connect my iPhone 6 to my iPad Air 2 using the Apple USB Camera Connection Kit so I can transfer some video files.  I get an error that says "Accessory Unavailable - The Attached Accessory Uses Too Much Power".  Both devices are running the latest version of iOS.  I've tried hard reboots on both and no change.  This used to work fine with my iPad 2.  Is my camera connection kit defective?

My camera just started doing this on my MBP too! I have no idea what to do

  • Camera connection kit + Canon EOS 7D,it works?

I'm planning to buy the apple's camera connection kit to use with my iPad 2 and my Canon EOS 7D.Im shooting RAW with an 16GB CF.There are any known issues that i may have?

I just tried several methods of transferring photos from my Canon 7D to my iPad 2 using the Camera Connection Kit.  I was shooting both RAW and JPG, and used a Sandisk 16GB CF Card in my camera to save the photos.
Obviously, since the 7D takes CF cards and not SD cards, I used the USB dongle in the CCK.  First I  tried connecting the iPad to a Lexar CF card reader.  I immediately got a message saying that the device requires too much power, even before I inserted the CF card into the reader.  So that method didn’t work.
Next, with a CF card in the camera, I tried connecting the camera directly to the iPad using a USB cable. This method was successful.  Upon turning on the camera, the photo program on the iPad activated and asked if I wanted to import my photos.  I said yes, and all the images (both RAW and JPG) were transferred and viewable in the iPad.
Next, I tried transferring the 7D photos I just imported from my iPad over to my iMac for further editing in Aperture.  This was also successful.  My setup is such that when I connect my iPad to my iMac, the iMac’s Image Capture program is automatically started and from there I can move the iPad photos to Aperture or a folder.  For these tests, I imported the photos into a  folder on my desktop.  I started Aperture (v. 3.1.3) and imported the photos in the folder into a new project.  All the photos (both RAW and JPG) were successfully imported, including all the metadata from the camera.  From there I could manipulate the photos just like any others in Aperture.
During my tests, I found that the choice of USB cable you use matters.  At first, I used a thin USB cable that I had previously used for charging duty (in fact, it has a label that says Charging Use Only on it).  It didn’t work at all for transferring data. However, when I switched to a thicker USB cable (from Apple coincidentally) that could handle data, the photos transferred from the camera just fine.
I still don’t think the iPad is the ideal photo backup device, due primarily to its relatively small storage capacity (especially if you shoot RAW), but at least these tests show it can in principle be done with higher-end SLR cameras that take CF cards.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Is camera connection kit slower than MIDI Interface?

I have purchased the camera connection kit for use with the new iPad. I am using it with Yamaha's set list designer.
The keyboard I'm using it with is a Yamaha S 90 XS.
I have it hooked up with the USB cable through the camera connection kit.
This app sends program changes according to a set list over MIDI.
When I connected to the keyboard the iPad says this device is not compatible.
However it shows up as a device and everything works fine except that it's very slow.
I'm wondering if a MIDI interface like the Yamaha or line 6 would give me a better result.
Has anyone out there have experience using  the midi interface vs. the camera connection kit?
Is either one more responsive than the other one.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Lpiano

I don't know when you used it last, but there was a firmware upgrade in 2011 that reduced the amount of power allocated to the 30 pin port - and with that the ability for the iPad to recognize and work with many USB devices that had worked before (even more confusing, articles are still out there saying such and such will work, but they were written before the upgrade)
the only work around I've seen some suggest is to use a powered USB hub, but if you've already tried that then you may just be out of luck

  • Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5?

Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5? What can I do to make it work again?

It should. It will only respond if there's something on the card for it to respond to, so do you have pics on the card?
And if it's messing up; try giving the iPad a restart. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see hte red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. That can clear up any glitches on the device itself.

  • Why did my camera connection kit stop working after updating to iOS 6.0.1?

Camera connection kit stopped working on ios6.01 updated phone. Same camera kit works on the iPhone that I did not update. Why does it not work with 6.0.1?

The same story. No 3G after updating to 6.1.  Told my daughter temporarily not to do an update on her iPad with 6.01. We've exchanged SIMs. I inserted her SIM in my iPad - 3G appeared immediately. And my SIM in her iPad with ios 6.01 also WORKS FINE. We use the same provider - Megafon Moscow. After attempting to revert SIMs to original configuration, 3G disappeared on my iPad again. Don't know what's going on with SIM during the update to 6.1
