After Update iTunes size went from 40GB to 3,100GB!!!

My original music library was only around 40GB. After I downloaded the newest version it somehow went to 3,137GB. My computer doesn't have that much hard drive space. I tried to sync my new 160GB iPod and it says that the iPod doesn't have enough memory to hold my library. Any idea what the problem is?

I don't know why this happened, but I wonder if something went wrong with your library.
But first, check that the music files look OK in your computer? - not lots of duplicate files or something like that.
Anyway assuming everthing looks normal, you could try rebuilding your library database.
Close iTunes and drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml out of the iTunes folder to the desktop.
Open iTunes and an empty library will be created.
Then follow the directions here for recreating your library from the xml file.

If it doesn't work, you can delete the new library file and put back the old files (with iTunes closed)
YOu didn't give your OS, I assume your are using Windows.

The subject is fairly self explanatory.
I have 993 songs in my iTunes Music Library. I had an older version of iTunes (Sorry, not sure which. I don't think I've updated in a while...), and it said my total library size was about 4 GB (fairly accurate for 993 songs? 8GB iPod nanos are advertised as able to hold 2000 songs. 993 is about half, so should be half of 8GB). I just updated to the latest version of iTunes (7.2, I believe?). My library still contains 993 songs, but it now says that my library size is 36 GB! Did the update do something to my files, make them bigger? I only have a 20 GB iPod (should be able to hold this many songs EASILY), when I next add music to my iPod, am I going to run into some problems? Thanks for any help you have!

Get a new SIM card from AT&T, as long as the iPhone hasn't been blocked by AT&T from being reported as stolen. Restore the iPhone without the SIM card in, and then insert the new SIM card and activate.

- Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.

Exception processing message 0xc0000013 after updating itunes and Quicktime

After updating itunes and Quicktime, every time I remove a CD from my DVD drives I get an error saying no disk exception processing message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x759f023c 0x87f51934 0x759f023c 0x759f023c.
I tried doing a restore to a time before that update and that didn't seem to help. It just gave me different parameters.
I'm using Windows Vista and this is driving me nuts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also have the same problems as you guys after installing Corel Painshop Pro X12. I went into the task list and stop the CorelIOMonitor process and then the problem went away. I found out that you can disable this from starting up using System Configuration tool via Start -> Run -> msconfig
. It's an interm solution untell they fix it. Maybe someone needs to notify Corel or Apple to fix this problem.

Home Sharing no longer working after updating iTunes

After updating iTunes on both my computers to version 10.7, the home sharing feature is now not working. One computer can see and access the other's library but the other cannot see its. I have checked the sharing preferences on both computers. Both have 'Share my library on my local network' and 'Share entire library' checked and neither are set to require a password. I have turned on home sharing from the 'Advanced' sub menu in the menu bar and both use the same Apple ID.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this. I think it is just a bug and should hopefully get fixed but maybe it's just me.

I'm up and running. Spoke with Apple and they had me go to : preferences, network and create a new location. That seems to have reset something. I had to reset all my devices back to my main network that had stopped working. The guest network will not let Home Sharing work, only the main network.
Others have been able to use Home Sharing without clicking "Done" after typing in their password. After you click "Done" the Shared disappears in iTunes.
Apple help people were GREAT!

I think I have the answer.
I was experiencing the exact same problem. I tried lots of different things but what I think works is to exclude your iTunes folder from Spotlight. Open the System Preference for Spotlight, click on the Privacy tab, and then drag your iTunes folder (in your user/Music folder) into that window pane. In fact, I think it is faster when I am fixing tags!

After updating iTunes and iPhone 3gs AppleMobileDeviceService.exe has been taking over 50% of my CPU. When i attempt to sync my iPhone iTunes hanges on backing up. I have uninstalled all the apple software and reintalled it. This fixed the problem until QuickTime updated. Immediately following the update Apple...Services.exe went haywire agian. Any help?

After updating iTunes, Outlook 2007 is not syncing. Error message reports "no supported calendar application can be found." Have the same issue when running iTunes in safe mode. Also rebooted and relaunched iTunes. No change. Outlook 2007 is running normally on my desktop (WInXP).

Apologies I've been away on holiday. OK, I've discovered that it seems to be a related problem to iSync as this won't load. I've tried copying the relevant files from a working OS but this didn't resolve it. I've also tried reinstalling the iSync (Using Pacifist) from the original Install DVD and then installing a combo update but this hasn't fixed it either.
I'm thinking my only resort is probably to reinstall the whole OS, or create a new user and transfer all my docs to that one. Any other suggestions?

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

hey, i hav had my ipod scince the end of july and hav never had any problems with that or itunes until recently. After updating itunes a message came up when i tried to use it after the instalation saying files are missing and to reinstall itunes, which i have done repeatedly which have not worked, i hav tried many various strategies to rectify the problem with no prevail, could someone please help me with this as i dont know a lot about computers as i am only 15.

Delete the file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info\Sc Info.sidb"
If you don't know how to get there, then go to Start, then Search, and search for "Sc Info.sidb", then delete it from there.
After deleting that file, restart you computer and then try running iTunes again.

It sounds like you are unable to connect your iOS devices without it becoming unresponsive. That would frustrate me too. I would use the following article about that very issue to help you resolve that:

Start with these 3 steps to make sure the other devices are up to date as well, and there is additional troubleshooting to be done in the article if needed:
Install any available software updates for your computer.

For Windows: Refer to the documentation for your computer for instructions on using Windows Update to update your computer.
Update iTunes to the latest version.

Test with automatic syncing disabled.
