I just bought Lightroom and the installation went without problems. I entered the serial number and then tried to open the program for the first time but instead of opening it's always aksing me to enter the serial number.
Anyone able to help me with this? I'm using a MacBook Pro late 2013 OS X 10.9.2

I'm still having the problem, it's really frustrating. I think I have deinstalled everything at least 10 times and nothing seems to be working. Would be very grateful if anyone has an idea how to solve this problem.

Lightroom 3 asks for serial number launching in non-admin account

The following information was provided by Carey Burgess (Adobe Employee):
Does Lightroom 3 launch and work fine in an admin account, but when you launch the application in a standard (i.e. non-admin) account it asks for a serial number?
If so, then it is likely due to a file permissions issue either in the original (admin) account or with the standard account.
(Although you need administrator access to install Lightroom, and you do need proper access permissions to your photos, you should be able to run Lightroom without issue in a standard user account.)
Lightroom 3 stores registration data (the serial number) in a file called Lightroom 3.0 Registration, which is stored by default in one of these locations:
    * Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom
    * Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom
    * Windows 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom
- Check for the registration file in the appropriate location for your system.
If the file does not exist in that location, then ensure you are logged in with the admin account (the one where Lightroom doesn't prompt for a serial number) and check the user-specific location instead:
    * Mac OS: /Users/YOUR USER NAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom
    * Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom
    * Windows 7/Vista: C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom
If the file exists in the user-specific location instead, then I would suggest that you ensure that you have quit Lightroom, and then move the registration file from the user location to the default system-wide location. Lightroom should now no longer prompt for serial number when you open it from a non-admin account.
If the registration file did (or now does) exist in the default system-wide location, but you are still being prompted to enter a serial number when opening Lightroom in a standard user account, then that account does not have sufficient access permission to the registration file.
To resolve this aspect, there are two possible solutions (the first being the recommended solution):
1. Change the access permissions on the Lightroom folder that contains the registration file to grant "Read" access for the standard user account. (You can do this for each account individually, or you can use a broader group like Everyone.)

Months ago, I had a routine clearout of old software boxes etc and chucked out my Lightroom 1.0 box. A couple of weeks ago I reinstalled Lion on my mac to find that I cannot register Lightroom. I have the 3.0 upgrade serial, the 2.0 upgrade serial, but the 1.0 was on the box..
I followed the instructions above to find the files in crashplan form before the fomat that hold the registration details. I have tried placing them in the location described, but it doesn't seem to work.
The serials (or something) are in the file, but given in the string that is difficult to decipher - and doesn't work in the registration screen, wrong size and a mix of letters and numbers rather than just numbers as my 3.0 serial is.
Any suggestions for what I could do? Could I send the strings in to Adobe to be deciphered? Perhaps move files around a bit more?

After Waves install, Logic asking for serial number unless xsKey plugged in

I installed Logic Studio and have been using it without dongle. After installing Waves Gold bundle and going through super paranoid copy protection maneuver, Logic now needs the xsKey dongle to run. Otherwise it asks for new serial number, then the original SN, which is of course the xsKey you must insert to proceed.
Does anyone know what needs to be done to correct this, short of dumping the Waves stuff and starting all over again?

It's unlikely to be Waves related I think. I'm running iLok Waves plugins here in LP8 without my XSkey connected. Waves has nothing to do with the XSkey, it either uses hard disk authorisation (old plugs) or iLoks (current plugs).
It sounds to me more like the Logic installation is screwy, if it's forgotten it's authorised. Try running some disk utils and verifying permissions, and if no joy, rerunning the Logic install and reauthorise.

Lightroom keeps asks for serial number

Although payment has gone through and Photoshop has installed correctly, when I open my Adobe Manager on the Mac it says Lightroom is up to date (cannot Download), although if I click into the Lightroom icon on my desktop it requires serial number.
I have checked payment/ plan/ money gone through/ logged out, logged in/ restarted computer/ updated computer and cannot win with it. The other day I waited for 1hr 54minutes on adobe hotline and in the end gave up- Please anyone I desperately need to download Lightroom so I can edit some pics- Please help

Waveburner always ask for serial number an old logic stick

is there everybody out who has the same problem
with my new macbook pro, logic 9 works perfekt but
if i open waveburner it always asks me for the serial number and the old logic usb dongle
what ca i do to solve this big problem ?

If you have Waveburner on your Mac, (as Waveburner is discontinued and not sold any longer) this means you must have installed a much earlier version of Logic Studio on your Mac at some point... and the serial Waveburner wants, came with Logic Studio...
Also the fact it is asking for an XSKey ( USB Dongle) means you must have originally installed from Logic 7... and then upgraded to Logic Studio at some point...

Can't access Adobe After Effects CC - being asked for serial number

Hi there,
I've just spent an hour on a very slow customer chat box, and then it cut off.
The guy gave me one suggestion: delete the database file from AppData > Local > Adobe > OOBE
It didn't work.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I can't access my product as it keeps asking for a serial number, but I'm on CC so I don't have one, as far as I know.
Very frustrating.
I appreciate any help you could provide.

Lightroom is asking for serial number - why?

I have succsessfully downloaded and am happily using the other apps I need (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator ) - but Lightroom insists I need a serial number to use it.. Any idea why or how to fix this? (Or have I misunderstood and Lightroom is not a part of Creativ Cloud as the other apps?). Help appreciated!

I installed all applications without thinking about language (stupid!) so that the programs that are available in Norwgian were innstalled in Norwegian - the others in English - I then changed preferences in the Adobe Applications manager to English (international), changed my macs OS language to English and reinstalled the apps so that they are all in English now..?

Install OS Updates, then FCP asks for serial number.

Since i'm the one who originally installed and entered the serial number and have projects saved, Im wondering if I can somehow get beyond the box that prompts for my name and serial number. Why is FCP so ignorant to software updates? How do they not know that sometimes software updates occur? . i did not install a new OS system, I just selected the option to install and restart when computer told me to. I'm out of the country working and those materials are back home.
How do i get by this? I don't want to hear that I need the serial number in order to open the program. It has to be logged or saved somewhere where i can retrieve it since I've been opening it everyday for months. Please help ASAP.

CC does not allow the programs to recognize my new license, always asks for serial number.

I bought 2 Adobe CC licenses and installed the suite in 2 Mac Pros, in the first machine the programs like photoshop are installed complete, and recognized the license immediately. But in the second machine each program ask for a serial number or continue using it as trial. I have an Adobe ID created for this machine in the Adobe CC console and assigned to the second license. In the console everything looks ok, but the programs still ask for a serial number.
I tried uninstalling all the software in the list, erase the .plist files in Library/Receipts and Library/Preferenses, and eliminated all the Adobe files, then I reinstall everything but still have the same window asking for a serial number or continue in trial.
Maybe I have to reinstall the Mac OS, but the problem could be in the Adobe Administrator site.
Any suggestion?

Purchased and registered lightroom, now asking for serial number on startup

I purchased Adobe Lightroom 3 several weeks ago, and have used it without hassle since. However, today when I tried to use it, it told me I had four days left on my trial period and prompted me to enter or buy a serial number. Why is this happening when I already entered the serial code when I first bought it, and why can't I find my serial number in my purchases to re-enter it?

On the support page, select "I cant find my serial number" in the first dropdown menu.
In the second dropdown, select "My product isn't registered.."

ARD asking for Serial Number after Upgrade to OSX 10.9 and ARD 3.7?

Hello All,
I bought ARD 3.6.1 back in 2012 from MAC Store. Yesterday, I decided to upgrade to OSX Mavericks and the upgrade forced ARD to update to 3.7 from 3.6.1 and now ARD is asking for serial number... Never had a Serial Number since I bought it from Mac Store. Anyone with same problem?

App Store Update says I have 3.7 already installed.

Not sure how that would happen but you should be able to revert to the Mac App Store version with the following steps:
1. Launch the App Store app
2. Go to the Purchases secton and verify that Apple Remote Desktop is showing in your list
3. Assuming it's in your list, delete Remote Desktop.app from /Applications
4. Verify that Remote Desktop.app is not installed on any other mounted volumes using Spotlight
5. If it is installed then either unmount those volumes or delete the app from those other locations
6. Go back to the Purchases section of the App Store app
7. If Apple Remote Desktop is shown as "Installed" then select "Reload Page" from the "Store" menu
8. The entry for Apple Remote Desktop should now give you the option to "Install"
9. Click "Install"
After installation you should have the correct Mac App Store version that does not prompt for a serial number.

Asking for Serial Number after Apple Remote Desktop package installation.

I just finish making a package of Sketchup 6, it works fine and everything but is asking me to enter the serial number and this is after i have already enter the serial number before i made the package......correct me if I'm wrong but i thought that when u make the package it would keep that information, I know i copy all the files and checked the permissions many times so I'm not sure what is it that I'm doing wrong, can anyone help me pls and thank you in advance.

Some software keeps it's serial number in a hidden file that can be very difficult to locate. If you're not including that file in the package, that would explain the problem. You might want to ask the developer of the product about this; they might be able to help you with a workaround.
