After update, startup crashes (Can I update without this happening?)

Well, after downloading and beginning the update for Mavericks, the computer began it's first restart, and upon starting up, this happened even before the Apple logo appeared:
So I did a system restore to 10.7.5 to save the computer (repairing disk and permissions first, so as not to lose any data).
I NEED to update to Mavericks because I can't download the new Xcode until then (and for non-xcode users, it's the program for creating apps, and I need to update mine).
So, anyone know what happened? Any suggestions on how to fix it to be able to update to Mavericks without issue? Is it possible that by doing the disk and permissions repair, I may have solved the issue already?

well, i think i was pretty clear
things you want to try before re-installing Mavericks (if you get for example the "popular" gray screen and nothing happens) is to perform a safe boot and/or reset the NVRAM / PRAM (which is what you did by option+cmd+p+r and waiting the second chime)

I followed all the instructions on the suggested page. Many files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\ could not be deleted. Message said ""Cannot delete files: It is being used by another person or program"' but could not find iPodService.exe in task manager (also, the "Cannont delete ... " did not mention iPodService.exe).
Deleted all that I could. Reinstalled iTunes. Still same result. iTunes and computer both recognize my old iPod. Only the computer recognizes iPod Touch.

Facebook security is handled by Facebook, not the phone or Apple. Contact them.

It would block usage of all the startup keys, like C, N, T, D, CMD+s, CMD+Option+p+r, CMD +v, Option, and Shift, as well as booting from anything but the Hard Drive.
Force Removing Password Protection
1) Add or remove DIMMs to change the total amount of RAM in the computer.
2) Then, the PRAM must be reset 3 times. (Command + Option + P + R).

What model and year is your MacBook? Some older MacBooks don't support Audio out via miniport/HDMI (the display miniport is video only).

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

IPad Personal Hotspot antenna shuts off after a few minutes of non-use. This happens in both Verizon 3G and LTE areas. Turning off LTE does not help. Turning Personal Hotspot off and then on works. Does this happen on Mini and Retina?

Fixed!
Two things together have restored connectivity.
1. I changed the name under Settings > General > About > Name from My Name's iPad to iPad of My Name. I read somewhere that iOS 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 (I forget which) sometimes had issues with apostrophes here. Easy enough to test.
2. I then reset (again) the APN settings under Settings > Cellular Data > APN Settings > Personal Hotspot and reentered our provider's info (APN, Username, Password) there.
I don't know WHY it worked, but the personal hotspot is now happily sharing (again) internet connectivity with my MacBook Pro.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can't use any cellphone without a SIM (except for CDMA phones which don't use SIMs at all). What is your exact situation? Do you mean that you have been using your iPhone as an iPod and now after the update it's requiring activation? If that's what you mean, then you will need a valid SIM, for the cell carrier your iPhone is locked to if it is locked, so you can re-activate the iPhone. You don't need active service with the carrier, though.
If that's not what you mean, please post back and explain further.

Guys I just updated the is and my battery goes from 100% to 4% in 2 hours with normal usage. The helpline just says lower brightness and the dealer says close wifi but what the **** is one to do its supposed to be a state of the art machine should one dump it or what?

After Photoshop CC crash, can no longer access extensions menu?

Hello! I recently signed up for/installed the CC Suite and have been using it for a few days on my Windows 7 box. I had a bad PS crash this evening where when I tried to open PS back up, it seemed to think I was a new user and wanted me to sign in/reauthorize my machine. (I also had to use the cleaner/reinstall the incredibly glitchy CC Desktop client.) On top of that, I can no longer access the extensions menu in Photoshop, which is kind of a problem for me. :\ (It's greyed out.) Any ideas? Thanks!!
