After update to 10.6.3 kernel_task using ~150% CPU
I've just updated to 10.6.3 and now my machine (Macbook Air 1st gen) is using 150% cpu usage on kernel_task. I've left the machine for 1/2 hour, rebooted and left it again but it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
Any ideas of what could be wrong.
And just after I posted this it worked itself out. Go figure...

My batch feature in bridge has disappeared completely after update, I uninstalled everything adobe CC using the cleaner tool.
I sue the batch feature for my job everyday to batch multiple images with a custom action, I need this feature back ASAP
Iam on a new 27 IMAC OSX 10.9.4
Adobe CC 2014 newest version completely up to date. The cleaner tool doesn't touch presets, templates or other user data. All it does is flush the installer database to remove blockages. The last time it actualyl deleted any files and folders was with CS3. so whatever you did, you may have hit the wrong button. And while I underrstand your frustration, the download pages states that you are advised to backup your data, regardless...

Kernel_task using 1600% CPU, please help
After updating to yosemite (nightmare) my Mid 2011 macbook air has been running ridiculously slow.
Activity monitor is telling me that kernel_task is using huge amounts (always over 100%) of CPU
The only way i can get my computer to function at a normal speed is using Safe boot
Please help!I seem to have the same issue ever since the Yosemite update. It's eating up my memory and battery. I see some kernel extension errors. Here's my report, please advise.

After Update to Lion I can't use USB-W mouse
After I Update to Mac OS X Lion (on my MacBook Pro) and I plug in my USB - wireless mouse. This mouse doesnt work, but on Mac Os X snow leopard works with no problems :-( (note: I dont use Mac Mouse, because Iam used to use my mouse...)
thx for answer
Jan StrnadekI am having the same problem with my mouse, it is a Logitech not sure what kind. Really annoying because my macbook is a older one and the trackpad is not the multi touch one so i tend to use a usb mouse from time to time. And my mouse is a must when playing games, for example when playing Minecraft. You really need a mouse. I am convinced that this is one of many bugs that will be found in Lion. (loving it so far! exept for this bug) and I think/hope it will be fixed in the first coming software update!

After update to ios7 I can't use any of my apps who needs internet connection
After I updated my ipad, even if it is connected to the wireless network and the wireless network is working for other devices, I cannot connect to the internet with the ipad. I can't use safari or mail or facebook/twitter nothing works. I've already tried "reset network settings" option on the settings but it didn't work. Does anyone have any idea what to do?
It didn't work but I read a lot in the site and finally I realize that the update changed my DNS I fixed it and it's fine now thanks anyway =)

Why Does kernel_task use 80 % cpu?
Hi,
Ive been having a problem with my 2ghz macbook running slowly. The first thing i did when i noticed the slowdown was to open Activity Monitor to find out what process was causing the slowdown. kernel_task was running at 84% of the cpu and had 54 threads running. I restarted the computer and PID 0 kernal_task was still running between 70 and 90% cpu.
Things i tried to fix the problem
1 uninstall all programs and games
2 remove everything connected to the computer
3 boot to os disk and repair permissions ( on boot volume and disk itself )
4 reinstall os and download updates
5 reinstall os and don't download updates
6 reinstall os and choose "erase and install" option
7 boot to os disk and use disk utility to erase disk then reinstall os
8 boot to os disk and use diskutil from terminal to repartition and reformat, then reinstall os
9 reset NVRAM/ PRAM
after this i took it to the apple store. they put a new hard drive in it (probably cause i wore out the old one reformatting it) and the problem still exists.
most of the forums say that the problem is either overheating, or a kernel extension misbehaving. both of these explanations could be the problem.
Overheating-
many macbook air users report high kernel_task cpu usage related to high cpu temps, broken fans and broken logic-boards. this is further supported buy how the problem goes away when the ambient temperature is below 60 but comes back at room temp. could this be a hardware ploblem like a bad fan, bad temp sensor or heatsink that got popped off?
CoolBook
coolbook should help solve the temp problem buy lowering the voltage to the cpu, but that sounds uber dangerous to me. plus it adds its own kext's and im trying to fix the kernel not add a bunch of 3rd party junk to it. has anybody had any luck with coolbook?
Bad kext (kernel extension)
when i boot to safe mode kernel_task behaves normaly so could the problem be a bad kext? safeboot only loads the required kernel extensions so could one of the other kexts not loaded in safe boot be the problem?
1 first question: kernel_task is a process scheduler and memory manager so is messing around with kernel extensions going to have any affect?
2 some people found that replacing the trackpad kext with an earlier version got the kernel_task to settle down has this worked for anyone?
3 i booted regularly and in safe mode and used kextfind -loaded to find out what kexts were running normally that didnt run in safe boot. I then booted to safe mode again and used kextload to load back each kext one buy one. they all loaded and kernel_task stayed the same. there was one exception GeForce.kext caused a panic and wouldnt load. is geforce.kext the problem or am i on the wrong track?
4 the way i understand it kextd is a daemon (whatever that means) that loads kernel extensions. the man pages say that the "-x" switch will make it only load the safe boot kernel extensions but kextd doesnt work from the command line because its started buy launchd (right?) is there a way to get kextd to start with the "-x" switch every time the computer boots normally?
Im a total computer noob and i welcome and any correction and advice at any level. please help me! i want to solve this whole kernel_task for everyone once and for all!

Message was edited by: DuezleHave you counted the number of processes in AM? They are all running from time to time whether you use the computer or it sits for an hour. Not including applications you have loaded there may be upwards of 80-90 system processes running. Applications you aren't using are still partially in memory and partially being paged out to disk.
All this activity will in part use the kernel. My kernel_task process is running 1.5 GBs just now. -
Adobe wont print after update 9
Can't print after updating to Adobe reader 9. Using a B&W multi "old girl" Lanier 5235 and I tried uninstalling Adobe and reinstalling without help. I can print a PDF file via Preview and I csan print word files via word etc. etc using the diff. cases in the printer, but Adobe just wont print after update. Any good ideas from you guys?
Quite sure its Snow Leopard that made it impossible for me to get to the diff. trays. And this link (http://support.apple.com/downloads/LanierPrinter_Drivers_for_Mac_OS_X_v106) is the only one that doesnt work . Furthermore I asked Lanier if they knew about it, but they didnt seem to have a clue... a bit funny I think... also frustrating though

After updating to Yosemite brush stops / lags
After updating to Yosemite whenever I am using brush or the eraser tool it stops or lags (I am not sure what to call it).
What happens is I can't hit any other shortcuts keys like "[ ]" for increasing the brush size and even changing tools like pressing "V" but if I click the icon it will be picked.
I checked the history panel it also stops there.
I am using
Wacom Bamboo CTH-670
Wireless keyboard
Wireless Mouse
iMac (21.5-inch, Mid2010)
I also did these things
- Reinstalled photoshop and driver of Wacom
- Used the brush in Lightroom (it works perfectly there but not in photoshop)
- Using the clone stamp tool like a brush it works perfectly.
What should I do now?I couldn't see the clear Caches but it is okay now. I got the solution from another post and the solution was
"Are you running CS6? if so, go to Menus, shortcuts, Lasso tool, or Photoshop stop working when using a Wacom tablet | Mac OS
and install the white window workaround plug-in. Let us know if this clears up the issue"
Still I am thankful to everyone who came here.
Thank you! -

Trouble after updating to ios7
After updating to ios7, I can't use imessaging and get notifications to connect to iTunes to use push notifications...I don't have a computer I can use to restore my phone...what do I do?
I have the same problem as you. iMessage has been "waiting for activation" over 12 hours now, and I get the same message everytime I use an app that requires notifications. You can restore from an iCloud backup, if you had iCloud backups enabled. Restoring the phone might fix it, but this is likely related to server problems which Apple usually experiences during an upgrade. Many people are having this issue.

After update to server 10.4.7, breaks "about this Mac"
After updating to server 10.4.7 (used the combo updater, repaired permissions before and after), "About this Mac" no longer works - nothing happens when invoked.
I imagine you have already tried this, but just in case. I had a similar problem with restart and shutdown in the apple menu not working after our server went down when an old battery backup died during a storm.
reset pram and it was good to go.
As suggested elsewhere in discussions:
Hold down Apple (command), Option, p and r keys at a restart. Continue holding the keys down, listen for the usual startup "bong" to sound 4 times. Release the keys after the 4th "bong" and you should have reset the pram.
Worked for me. Give it a shot. -
Do really need to soft/hard reset after updating f...
hello..
i just wanna know do we really need to soft/hard reset our phone after updating firmware??
btw im using nokia 5800XM..im updating my firmware from V50 to V51

Solved!
Go to Solution. In my experience I've found that when I don't do the reset before and after I invariably have problems. For example when I updated my N97 to the v22 firmware the auto-rotate function stopped working properly.
I actually also remove all apps and format the mass storage prior to the firmware update which ends up taking a ridiculously long time with the reloading of my media and maps but I now realize that I'll end up having to do it anyway so I might as well do it properly the first time.
It could just be the N97 as it's such a hunk of junk but I think it's more likely that it's an issue with the update process in S^1.
