After Updates 1/10, iBook crashing

Hi, all
First Apple post
Bought my iBook G4 Jan 8 of last year. Now crashing
Installed updates, Jan 10 or 11, via CAT5 wire (AirPort disabled, running on battery for updates). Required reboot – booted okay. (Re-enabled AirPort right before shutting down.)
Next morning, wouldn’t turn on (no boot tone).
Reseated battery and it turned on but rectangular box I’ve never seen before declared I needed to reboot my computer (in about 5 different languages).
Rebooted and saw a tiny Finder folder in middle of screen that kept flashing from Finder folder to ?question mark? I didn’t know what this meant, but I just let it sit there, just in case it was running some sort of maintenance. After about 5 minutes, it rebooted all by itself and everything ran fine.
I immediately went into System Preferences, started Classic, and rebuilt the desktop.
Next morning, I started up okay and decided to go to discussion groups to post about my problems, but as I logged on with my Apple ID, the computer froze solid with the equivalent of a Windows Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD).
Apple BSOD screen data displayed:

It mentions the CPU, the AirPort, and implies memory problems, but I can't tell if this means the updates (code) are mishandling memory, or the RAM is faulty, or the CPU is failing, or the AirPort is failing, or what.
Anyone have any ideas?
Or can anyone point me to any resources where I might delve deeper into this?
I'm a Windows/AMD/Intel technician who is trying to also learn Apple and various Linux distros. I understand hardware thoroughly, but new to Apple/OSX.
I love my iBook! Any help would be very much appreciated.

More info...
I tried to repair disk permissions in Disk Utility, but it fails after 1.3 of the way.
Can't repair disk.
Is there a bootable disk that will repair my hard drive?
Can I boot from my OSX CD and do a repair install?
I think the option to boot from CD instead of the hard drive is hold down the "C" key while booting. Is that right?

  • After update, Photoshop CC 2014 crashes just after launching - a whole day lost between forums and support

Here in France, it's getting late, 9.45 PM, that is 12 hours after the first crash of Photoshop CC 2014 on my Mac OS 10.9.4.
Nothing changed on my computer, excepted the PhCC14 update.
Then I launched the app and it crashed right after displaying the workframe.
I tried and tried so many things :
Ashutosh.Nigam suggested me in this forum to change the permissions to SLStore & SLCache Folder, but it did not work.
Ali from french Adobe support told me to delete my Settings files, but it was not enough.
A girl with no name from the same team told me to update my graphics card driver, but, you know, I run the latest Mac OS X version and everything is updated, mademoiselle.
Stephane sent me a link to a huge page of things to do :
    -  Troubleshoot account-specific fonts, but there wasn't any corrupted font
    - Delete account-specific Adobe cache files but... guess what...
    - Troubleshoot account-specific login items but... yes, that's it, I can see you understand me
    - Reset the access settings on the user account's Library folder... oh god, that was fun, I used the Terminal and sudo commands
    - I checked the disk and repaired all permissions...
I did all of these things because when I tried to open PhCC in an other admin session, it worked. So it could  be an incompatibility between my session and PhCC. But, but, but, when I tried again to lauch the app in the second session, it worked fine but refused to quit. Ha ha ha.
Last call to the french support : "Désolé Monsieur, you didn't spend 2000 € for a specific help, but because you have lost a whole day of work, we will pay you back 2€. And no, Photoshop won't work anymore on your session. You have to move all your files to a new session."
It's unfair ! The software was running gently on my session, Adobe change things and I have to break everything on my computer, move every config from one session to another with absolutely no warranty that it won't crash again.
It's NOT what I pay Adobe CC  each month for.
    Very disappointed Jean-Luc

Anyone know how to read a crash report?
I can print with Lightroom, there is nothing wrong with the printer, or the file.  But I want to print with Photoshop without a crash.  Besides, Lightroom doesn't give me access to all of my print settings.
Hoping someone can help, I"m exasperated.....

  • After update 9.01 firefox crashed and I can't reinstall it ....

I recently updated firefox to 9.01 and after the update, whenever I start it it tells me that another copy of firefox is running, so I reinstalled it and after the reinstall the strangest thing happened the firefox icon has changed into a setup icon and whenever I click on it it tells me that I need to restart my computer, after the reboot nothing changes it's still stuck on the setup icon and it gives me the same message even when I select uninstall. How can I fix it ??

  • After updating my firefox it crashes , it works for while but then when i try to open a new page it goes blank and i end up restarting my computer and everything works a little while but then the same thing happens , i don't kno how to fix it i need help.

For instance I'll be on youtube.com watching videos but after a while. When i click on a different video it stops working, kind of like when I'm not connected anymore, but I'm still connected.
After i restart or shut down then turn back on things work again for awhile. It doesn't seem like it's a specific website because it doesn't matter and after I restart the website works just fine for a while till it happens again.

  • After Update to 19.0, Crash Frequently and Plug-in Container Issues

Ever since I updated to FF 19.0, I noticed that FF crash more often than usual, without any reason (I was in the middle of reading a website). And also the plug-in container for Adobe Flash kept consuming high cpu usage, thus slow down or even freeze FF. I have to end it before FF back to normal.
Am I the only one has problem or it's a bug in FF 19 waiting to be fixed?
Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated. Thank you.
PS: No add-on has been added, and I have cleared cache often.

  • CPU too high after update & disabling all addons crashes twitter

For 3 days cpu is near 40 to 50% after your latest "update" (which it isn't). Happens a LOT after you update.
Disabled all addon's per the help tab (I only had 2 left on) and it is slightly better, not back to normal.
In addition, I can't see twitter properly. That's a big fail.

It might be helpful to know what process, or processes, are hogging the CPU - you can see this using Activity Monitor (showing All Processes).

Try the following user tip with that one:

  • Microsoft Update Lumia 1020 apps crash

Just had a scary experience with this update.
After updating ALL my apps crashed and my Lumia 1020 would only call, txt, go on browser and take photos. Luckily I found a solution via Twitter. You need to instal the Italian Keyboard, which will take an age to install and in effect do a further update to the phone and after migrating your data the phone works fine. I have tried it and it works, just be patient.
    DOWNLOAD ITALIAN KB

  • Updated iPad2(2011) to iOS8 now iBooks crashes while reading a book. What is going on?

Updated iPad2(2011) to iOS8. Now iBooks crashes while reading a book and closes down. I have sync'd the iPad a few times but nothing changes and it will 'crash' every 5-10 minutes. What is going on?

A better solution. This worked for me and several others, from a post from MrsMike921 in the following thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26725105#26725105
go to your settings, and first go to Safari and delete your history by scrolling down to "clear history and website data". Then go to the advanced settings and select ""website data". It should show 0 bytes. If not, clear again.
next go to iTunes and App Store in settings, and touch your Apple ID, the select sign out.
AFter you you sign out of your ID, restart your iPad by holding down the power button and home key simultaneously until you see the apple logo after the restart.
when you are powered up, go to iBooks. You should get a message that you need to sign in to sync up your books. Sign in, and that should do it.

  • After ios 8 update ipad began to crash

after ios 8 update apps been crashing and ipad began rebooting by it self it use to do it when first updated to ios 7 until the bug fix update was sent out what to do

Similar problem too with iPad 2. After updating it just continues to search and won't connect to 3G (verizon). I spent 5 hours at the local apple store and they couldn't solve the problem. There was another person there too with the exact same problem with an iPad 2 and they couldn't fix it either.
After all of this time they had no solution except to buy a new iPad ....... unbelievable. The issue is not a coincidence and it is obviously due to the software update. Apple's arrogance to openly address and fix the issue is astounding. Very poor customer service for a company that is supposed to be so progressive.

  • First off, i think it's sad that i have to use my non apple device to post this question... Why has my iPad become absolutely useless after updating to iOS 8.1? I am unable to use my mini because it crashes, slow performance, major battery drain.

Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.
