After updating Firefox, I am unable to open word attachments from my Outlook email, although the download works when I check emails in Internet Explorer

Following a Mozilla update, Jave console has been disabled and is incompatible with the new upgrade. I'm not sure if this is affecting my ability to open word documents that are attached to email, but I am unable to do this when I open my emails though Firefox. If I open them in Internet Explorer, the .doc file will open normally. I just prefer to use firefox rather that internet explorer

I just got off the phone with support. First, he claimed that WAV files are not supported (although the user guide claims it is). Next, he suggested that WAV files that are transfered through BB Desktop will work, but not files that are downloaded from attachments. Finally, he stated that the file must be in the Music folder in order to work. I was able to use AIR Browser to move the file over to the Music folder, but it still won't play. When BB Desktop syncs music files over, does it create a specific subdirectory in the Music folder? Has anyone been able to get a WAV file to play (regardless of how it got on to the PlayBook)?

I am unable to open word documents as attachments from my 5c. I never had the problem with the 4s. Is it something in the settings?

Since you didn't describe "the suggested work-arounds" I can only guess whether you've tried this, but in that message there should be a paperclip icon on the left at the bottom of the header. If you drag that icon onto your computer's Desktop, you should see the attachment(s) there. Can you open them by double-clicking?

According to your User Agent you posted this question using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. Are you having a problem with Firefox? What Firefox version?
You said you are having a problem opening PDF files on your system. Can you explain that better? Mozilla Support can help you with opening PDF files in Firefox, which uses a built-in PDF reader. Maybe one of these articles will help?

  • After update to Mavericks I can't open disc drive from keyboard

    Hello
After update to Mavericks I can't open disc drive from keyboard on my Mac Pro.
I found the only way to do this is via disk tools , there I can eject my disc drive - seems now to be the only way - should not be like this.
    Any idea , Please??

I used to use 2 keyboard keys - It now works with only 1.
So it works now , but different.
    Thank you.

Hello, if your install disk is locked (I assume with FileVault) there is no way to change the password. If it weren't locked there were at least two solutions. As far as I know, the only solutions now are:
    - contact your dad
    - erase and reinstall the OS X clean
    Let us know.

I'm unable to open vCard exported from MS Outlook for Mac (2011) which adheres all requirements.

vCards exported from Outlook are not compatible with iCloud if that's what you're trying to import it to.  You'll have to do something like create a Gmail account, then export your Outlook contacts to Gmail (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-outlook-contacts-to-google -gmail-HA001148902.aspx), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).

  • Since last update, unable to open PDF files from either banking site. The other (IE) works fine but I hate IE. I deleted newer versions and went back to older releases. No help, same thing. Checked settings in options. That is ok. What's up?

I think almost every dev is on arch-general, so that is the place to contact the group in general.  Specific points can probably be emailed to the dev involved, if one is identifiable and if the bug tracker is not a better place (bug reports to my email get ignored).
I think the whole problem here is that there is really no dev in charge of that package.  So your emails were probably seen then skipped over by all devs thinking not my problem...  (I know that is true for me).   Then Andrea noticed an "orphan" package that needed updated and went ahead with it without connecting it to your previous emails, which is unfortunate.
Now our maintainer backend is fixed, hopefully we can get all the orphan packages adopted out, or at least know if we need to bring on new people to maintain them.  That way, there should always be someone who information about specific packages should be sent to.

  • Updated Firefox 28 is unable to open one specific website

1 Spreadsheet I use for work from Google drive does not open. Other files, in the same google spreadsheet format, do open up. I recently updated to Firefox 28 and switched to Microsoft security essentials for Antivirus. Clearing the cache and cookies does not help.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • After updating Bridge & PS, still unable to view CR2 files from Canon M3

I cannot view CR2 Raw files from the Mark III on Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 to convert into TIF and JPG files for a client. I have updated all of my Adobe programs, restarted, and the files are still not showing up for me. Help please!

    Thank you for elaborating.
Your system should absolutely be opening those files.  Any of the versions of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in) that run with Photoshop 13.0.6 can and will open those files if properly installed, that includes the current version, ACR 8.6.
Go to About Plug-In > Camera Raw… in the Photoshop menu and see what version shows up there, just to check that the plug-in is installed correctly.  There should only be one version of ACR in the plug-in menu.
That Canon camera model has been supported ever since ACR versions 6.7 in CS5 and 7.1 in CS6.
If ACR only shows once in the plug-in menu and you still cannot open your file(s), then you in all probability have corrupted files.
The fact that you can see the images in Apple's Preview means nothing, only that Preview is showing you the embedded JPEG preview embedded in the file. Such JPEG previews generally do not get corrupted even if the raw file has been corrupted.
I hope you have the original CR2 files or good backups.

  • Unable to open Word attachments

Working on reviewing book chapters for a large NPO and have a big problem trying to open multiple Word files attached to incoming emails. Am using OS 10.5.8 and AOL email account, Word for Mac 2008 with auto-updates. If more than one Word file is attached, I get a message, "filename.doc uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version." None of the suggested work-arounds to open the file (such as from within Word) will work. This problem does not occur with a newly created gmail account. I know a solution is to use the gmail account, but I really don't want to change email addresses. My (husband has the same problem on his new MacBook Pro that I talked him into buying, and this problem does not occur with the old PC and Outlook. Hard to argue with the hubby when he says it was easier with the PC. Any help appreciated.

  • Unable to open .WAV attachments from browser-based email

My apologies if this has been answered in another thread. I've been searching the Board and haven't come up with a solution in another post.
I recently travelled to a conference and took just my PlayBook. I had wifi connection and so used the browser to log into our Microsoft Exchange server at work. Our phone system emails WAV files to us when someone leaves a message, and I tried to open these through the browser to no avail. I am able to download the WAV files to the 'Downloads' folder on the PB, but then can't open them. I get an "unsupported media file" message whenever I try to open them. I even tried renaming the files in case the PB didn't like our phone system's naming convention. Unless I'm reading the OS2 manual incorrectly, WAV files are supported, are they not?
Just to clarify, I'm not using the Bridge feature; I'm using the browser to access and download attachments to my PB. Other file types, such as PDF seem to work, I just can't get the WAV files to work.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide (including a link to another post that I've missed in my search).

  • Open/save attachments from a website forum link is not working

Every time I click on a .doc or .docx or PDF it tells me I have chosen to open index.php and wants to open it in Dreamweaver. Other forum members using Firefox are having the same problem. Internet Explorer does open/save the document correctly so it isnot a forum problem.

    Resolved by latest update - V 9.0.1

  • After updating Firefox it will no longer open and i get the message "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" end of story.

Firefox was working well. One day I logged on to use Firefox and was prompted to update my version which I did. After or during the update the following message was given on the screen "firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close". It closed and now every time I click on the firefox icon I get the same message from Microsoft. That is all the information I get. Each time I go to open Firefox I get the same message. There is an error message attached to the Microsoft dialog box, but I don't understand what it means.
I have sent it to Microsoft but no reply.

Make sure that you aren't running Firefox in some compatibility mode (e.g. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_%28software%29 Rosetta]).

    Hi,
    It should be accessing :- http://<planning server>:8300/HyperionPlanning/help/en/hp_information_map/hp_information_map.html
Can you access that address on the machine hosting planning?
The file structure on the web server depending on which app server you use should be something like \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\help\en\hp_information_map\hp_information_map.html
