After updating it takes an extremely long time for firefox to open
I recently updated firefox, within the last two weeks. Now when I click on the firefox icon to open there is about a 45 second time frame before firefox opens.
Do you mean to load the application, or reload the email list?
If so you may want to clean your inbox and or debate on which to use IMAP or POP.

Do you have current backups?
Those symptoms could indicate a failing Hard drive. If it dies, all your documents go with it unless you have Backups.
I have had very good luck with physical and battery problem diagnosis at the Genius Bar. Those guys put their hands (and their ears) to these machines, all day every day, and they know immediately what all those sounds mean.

Not sure why it takes almost 1-2 minutes for Firefox to fully open and load. It's also not an internet issue, as Safari opens immediately.

My laptop takes an extremely long time to start up after being shut down
When I try to start up my computer it takes between 3-5 mintues to start back up again.

Any ideas?There are probably a lot of items being started when the computer does. You can open up "System Preferences", click on "Users & Groups", and then click on "Login Items" for a particular user. If you don't see anything suspicious, or anything that can cause long startup issues, navigate to (by pressing shift-command-G when in Finder, and yes, the ~ is necessary):
~/Library/LaunchAgents (can also get here by typing /Users/<account name>/Library)
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LanuchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
/System/LaunchAgents
/System/LaunchDaemons
/System/StartupItems
If you don't see anything in there that would cause the "long" boot up time, then it is most likely something else (obviously...). If you have FileVault2 enabled, causing your entire hard drive to be enabled for Full Disk Encryption, that might increase the boot up time by a small amount. If you feel that your computer still is booting up way too slowly for your liking, then there could be some helpful indications during bootup. The next time you startup your mac, hold down the Command+V buttons on your keyboard, and you will see lines of text rather than your usual grey screen with the Apple logo -
HT201250 back up takes a extremely long time
I got a new Western Digital My LIve Duo. I am using time machine to back up to the drive. It is exremely slow. For example, it has taken 6 hours to back up 35 GB (out of 2.5 TB). Time MMachine says it will take 17 days to complete at this rate. If I wait longer, only a few more GB will have backed up and TM will say something like 30 days to backup.
I have backed up another Mac with the same backup drive and it did not behave this way.

Although it doesn't explain the difference between the two computers, try doing an incremental backup to see what happens. Based on my experience with Time Machine in the past, either the program or the computer seem to get unhappy when copying large amounts of data.
Go to System Preferences/Time Machine and click on the options button. Exclude items until you get a reasonable size backup (10-20 GB seems to work). Backup and then using the - in the options window make more available for backup. Repeat until everything is backed up. It takes more time and effort this way, but it gets the job done. This is how I normally do a first time backup. -
Is it normal for Letterboxing to take an extremely long time?
Every time I import and save a video from my camcorder to iMovie, when it gets to the "Letterboxing" stage it takes forever to finish! Am I just impatient or is there something I can do differently?

I'm using a Canon Elura 100 (NTSC) DV Camcorder. I shot the video in Widescreen format (but I wish I didn't - it looks compressed when it imports in iMovie! ?? another issue.) I'm importing with a firewire onto my PB G4 (I have SuperDrive) and I use iMovie 6 with the latest upgrade.

My computer's current version of Firefox is 3.6.13; clicked on Software Update and received an "strong suggestion" to download the newest version 3.6.16. Clicked to update and now "Downloading Update" has been showing "Connecting to the update server..." for 10+ minutes.

Why does it take a very long time for shows to post to VOD?
A lot of programs say they will be on demand the following day. This isn't true. Seems you have to wait a week or longer for shows to post. Why? Comcast would usually be by 4:00 PM the following day. When you miss something and want to catch up on it you have to wait, and then the next show is already being shown by the station. It's a pain. I know I can get a DVR but that costs more $$$. If you advertise your VOD to be current then be current.
Since the Verizon Forums are for users to help other users, I doubt you will get any definitive answer. We customers simply do not have access to any information on how Verizon handles VOD.

Facebook (FB) recently restructured their website. After logging on to my FB homepage, some of the graphics are garbled and I am no longer able to post status updates, comment on friend's status updates or pictures, or post pictures using Firefox version 2.0.0.20. I would like to know if there is a newer version of Firefox that will function with a Mac G3 Blue and White desktop running OS 10.3.9 which will be compatible with the new FB? I would upgrade my computer, but have 22+ years of business and tax records that will not function with the newer Mac OS.

I updated my ipad to 7.1 this weekend. I am using the same wireless network, etc.....nothing else has changed but it takes an extremely long time to load itunes on the ipad. Everything from the store itself and the items I have purchased take anything rom 3 to 5 minutes to load.
I have reset the ipad, reset the "network" from the router to the option on the ipad.

Extremely long time when executing an export transaction data package link

I am working in a packagelink to export transaction data to the application server. The package which I am currently using is /CPMB/EXPORT_TD_TO_APPL. I use it to generate an output file which I later use in a different appliation to register modifications applied in BPC.
It has been working correctly without problems for a time. The problem is that suddenly it stopped working. Maybe because of some changes in the dimension library (is it feasible?) . I defined and scheduled again the packagelink and it began working correctly again, but the time it takes to execute the process is really long. Approximately it takes above 10 hours, which is an extremely long time for the process. In the beginning, the packagelink was executed in an hour and a half. Could anybody tell me any idea about what can be the reason of this problem?

looks like you are hitting a BAD index.
Check the [DB50|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/9c/ca5bb3d729034aaf6f4cea2627c2f2/frameset.htm] or the DBMGUI - there should be warnings about this.
To fix this issue, either use the DBMGUI -> Recover -> [Indexes|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/30/5ada38596211d4aa83006094b92fad/frameset.htm] function or logon to dbmcli, get an SQL session ([sql_connect|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/11/8af4411cf5c417e10000000a155106/content.htm]) and use the [sql_recreateindex|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/30/f7c7f25be311d4aa1500a0c9430730/content.htm] command.

Using Table.Join formula takes extremly long time to get results.(Why Query Folding doesn't work?)

I built a query with 4 tables inside (load from Oracle DB and two of them are quite big, more than millions of rows). After filtering, I tried to build relationships between tables using Table.Join formula. However, the process took extremly long time to
bring out results (I ended the process after 15 mins' processing). There's a status bar kept updating while the query was processing, which is showed as . I suppose
this is because the query folding didn't working, so PQ had to load all the data to local memory first then do the opertion, instead of doing all the work on the source system side. Am I right? If yes, is there any ways to solve this issue?

why do the mac updates take a ridiculously long time? 10 hours? this is ridiculous - my ISP is 40mbps
Which updates were you trying to get? If you are going to a very busy web site or server, the connections could be extremely slow. But to wait so long invites troubles.
If the machine is terribly slow, that should be an indication some maintenance or repair may be needed first. Some keyboard shortcuts can be used to check and attempt repair, and the problem likely is in the Mac.
Everything from the amount of RAM installed, to the total capacity of the HDD (or SSD) vs free or unused space on the drive, is important to the function of the OS X. Or there may be an issue, if the OS X checks out OK, in the internet connection. If you use wireless mostly, check the connections by wire instead.
Try to not get into a position where you end up using 'force quit' if the computer appears to freeze up. In the process of an update or upgrade, that's almost never a positive outcome.

I suspect you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them by each sub-folders until you are able to nail down which sub-folder of photos, that causes the sync to stop or gives you errors.
