After updating my iphone 5 to ios 8 it says I need to plug it into iTunes but when I plug it into iTunes I tunes says I must reset my phone. However, my phone won't turn on so I have no way of reseting it.

Just look around the forum posts. Your issue is the number one problem reported by users. There are many suggestions found, some work for some users, others do not.
Some users have reported no battery problems after the upgrade. Others have improved performance after upgrading to 5.0.1 from 5.0. YMMV.
Many of the posts offer suggestions about changing various settings - there are many that affect the battery life.
Once you upgrade the iOS on a device, you cannot go back to a previous version. -
Has anybody experienced missing sent emails after updating their iPhone to IOS 5.0? Mail composed on phone appears to send but is never delivered nor does it show in sent items. Using Exchange 2010. Any thoughts??

Not sure if you were responding to me or OP - my iPhone is on 5.1. The OP at the time of writing was on 5.0.1.
Also, the OP and I had setup our Hotmail as an Exchange server (similar to IMAP), not POP3. -

Hello All. This is ASIF MALIK from India. I tried many time to update my iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 through my MacBook Pro but every time I recieve an err=-3259 or err=-3156 etc. errors. I was highly disappointed by doing this from passed 4 days gone maaadddd.
But TODAY I tried it updating my iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 through MY HOME PC Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit after downloading iTune 10.5 & Guys good news is that I UPDATED my iPhone 4..... The plus point of using my windows 7 ultimate PC, even i got the same error twice or thrice but I REUME ALL & then I got the result. I don't know what was the problem updating with my MacBook Pro but FINALLY I SUCCEDED:-) ENJOY GUYSjust try downloading the *.ipsw file and then update the phone. I have an Iphone 4 using ios 4.2.6 and need to upgrade to at least ios 4.3 or better yet ios 5. I have never received any update notices. I understand upgrades are through Itunes but when I go to Itunes downloads there is nothing there. Help!
Thanks, I tried this and it didn't work. I have a windows xp computer and connected the iphone to it. When I click on the iphone link that comes up under my computer i only get my iphone photos. No other options come up.

Happened to talk to a friend who said to try replacing the battery. Did that. Problem fixed. All data saved.
To all Apple support people: rather than say 'once it's in recovery mode you lose all data' try saying 'replace your battery and see if that works first'!!!! -
How do you retrieve a password when your Ipod say's connect to ITunes, but when you go on ITunes it says to unlock password?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
