After updating the software on my ipod touch to OS 6 it no longer works in my car

After updating the software on my ipod touch to OS 6.1.4 it no longer works in my car.

Try:
- Reset the car system
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, then the iOS update broke compatibility. That happens sometimes.

You needing to be running iOS 5 or later in order to do a Software Update from the device.  To run iOS 5 you need a 3G or 4G iPod Touch.  So if you really have a 4G iPod Touch, connect it to iTunes and you should be prompted about an update to its version of iOS.

If you have the first gen ipod touch as your information shows, then you would have to buy a software update:

  • Why can't I update the software on my ipod touch?

I have iOS 2.2 on my iPod Touch first generation and I can't update it. It says that iTunes cannot connect to the software updater driver of the iPod.I've tried everything I could think of and before and bring it to the Apple store for service or repair is there any other options or possibilities somehow to update the software on the iPod doing it by myself without going to the Apple store?
P.S. It shows me: An unknown error has occured (-1)
    Thank you

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT201210 I can't sync or update the software on my iPod Touch 5 gen

Every time I try to either sync or update the software on my new iPod Touch 5th Gen it won't work because it says there is not enough space on my computer to save a backup but the thing is that there is more than enough space. I never had this problem with my previous iPod Touch 3rd Gen. Please help.

I have about 10+gb on my hard drive but another problem I have is that whenever I drag anything into the trash it gets deleted automatically and can't be restored. I was thinking this might be affecting the space on my hard drive perhaps?

  • How do i update the software on my ipod touch from version 3.1.3??

w do i update my ipod touch??? would like newer software!

If you have the original iPod Touch (iPod Touch 1), you can't.  iOS 3.13 is the end of the line for that model.  If you have a newer iPod, you can update using iTunes.

  • My computer is broken and I have a new one. I would like to update the software on my ipod touch but im afraid it will sync afterwards and i will loose all my data. Is this the only way?

I have an ipod touch 4g 64gb currently running 4.2.1. I would like to update it to the latest available software without syncing my ipod with itunes as I am using a new laptop that doesnt have my music, photos, videos etc on its itunes library. And so I do not want to loose all my data on my ipod.

  • I cannot update the software on my iPod Touch 3.

I've tried clicking on the update button like a thousand times; but it tells me that version 4.2.1. is the latest one. What do I do?
    Thanks!

Are you sure it was error 0604 since I never heard of that error, it does not appear in the list of errors in the following and a search of Apple's support site gets no hits.  However, error 1604 is list and users have reported that error number.  If 1604 is the error number the following tell yu wnat to do when you click on that error number:

  • Does anybody knows advantaes inupdating the software version of ipod touch

    hi frnds,
Does anybody knows advantaes in updating the software version of ipod touch to 1.1.4?...is there any particular feature in that?..

It's got several bugfixes, but nothing major.
I wouldn't know of a reason why you shouldn't update, except you've jailbroken your iPod...
    I'd say go ahead.
    Hope this helps.

How do I reinstall an older version of the software on my IPod touch?  Installed the latest update and now it no longer works in my car.

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums.

After updating to iOS 6 my iPod Touch 4th.Gen is virtually unusable ... does anyone know how to sue Apple since they gave no warning about iOS 6 being for iPad optimisation and a killer for iPods ?  Before I throw away my iPod Touch does anyone know if Apple intends to rectify their obnoxious disregard for iPod users by issuing another 'upgrade' which will allow iPods to work without the constant system crashes that iOS 6 has caused ?

Contact a lawyer if you want to sue.

  • When I click on the button to download the new IOS software, I get a message saying that all the items on my iTouch will be removed.  Will I have to reload everything after updating the software?

When I click on the button to download the new IOS software, I get a message saying that all the items on my iTouch will be removed.  Will I have to reload everything after updating the software?  Because I had to have my hard drive wiped a while back, I have items on my iTouch that are not in my iTunes.  Is there a way to copy everything on the iTouch into iTunes, if necessary, before I load the new software?

It is possible to transfer purchases from your iPod back into iTunes before updating the OS. If you had any CDs from your personal collection, these you have to put back into iTunes manually. Hope this helps you & good luck!
