After updating to Firefox 5.0, my email/webmail account isn't working. How can I revert to the previous version of Firefox?

The email account that I am having trouble with is [email protected] I can't open any emails or perform any other function (purge, label, discard, view, etc) I can send an email though.

This might have been helpful if it was in English and not in German. . . at least it looks like German.

  • I downloaded Firefox 4 which my iBook G4 does not support. How can I revert to the earlier version of Firefox?

A box showed up that said "this architecture does not support Firefox 4." Firefox was no longer available on my laptop. Leopard is my OS. (Highest it will go)

Do you recall whether your iBook G4 could run Firefox 3.6? If so, you can download it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were using 3.5 or earlier, finding it is a bit trickier.

I miss the ease of use of the google toolbar and its features; these cannot be used with this latest version of Firefox. I was content with the previous version I was using.

Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox 5 and newer version. It is best to move on to other alternatives than to try any "hacks" to the toolbar that may or may not perform in the future. Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Google Toolbar is not available on any other browser, even Google's own browser.

  • How can I re-download the previous version of Firefox. I have lost most of my add-ons with 4.0 including my password manager. This is a calamity and I've changed my default browser from Firefox. Help!!!

The problem is very simple. As soon as I downloaded Firefox 4.0 I lost my add-ons. The add-ons were the reason I have been using Firefox for several years. This seems to be ludicrous. The new version should be able to manage integration of existing add-ons or the Firefox team should have provided the add-on authors with advance technical information before releasing 4.0 to the world.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • How can I revert to the earlier version of Firefox? This new version has me completely bewildered. I can't find ANYTHING!!!

Please help me because I don't want to resort to one of the other browsers, but may have to if I can no longer figure out how to use Firefox. Nothing seems to work the way your instructions specify. • Firefox 18.0.1 crashes every time I close a tab. How can I revert to the prior version which worked fine?

I use Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion dm4-1160us Entertainment Notebook. I use Firefox extensively, and have not had this problem with any prior versions. I upgraded to 18.0.1 on Jan 18th and now Firefox crashes every time I close a tab. I use Norton Internet Security, and had no problems prior to updating Firefox. How can I revert to the prior version of Firefox which worked well.

Why is this Norton's problem when it was caused by Firefox's upgrade???
An easier solution is to use a different browser. Norton works fine.

  • I don't like Firefox 7, how do I revert to the previous version? System restore doesn't work.

With Firefox 7 my computer is slower to boot up and shut down. When typing the website I want in the address bar the old firefox took me straight to the site now it takes me to Google. I'd like to revert to the previous version of Firefox. I have tried using system restore but it doesn't work. I'm using windows XP. Can anyone help?

Starting with the release of Firefox 7, the previous versions of Firefox (4.0.x, 5.0.x and 6.0.x) are no longer maintained with Security and Stability updates. Firefox 3.6 is the last previous Firefox version that is still being maintained.
Firefox versions 4.0.x 5.0.x 6.0.x contain Security vulnerabilities that are known and could be exploited by some websites to gain unauthorized access to information or to disrupt critical processing. Only the Latest version 7.0.1 and an Older version 3.6.23 of Firefox are secure against these known vulnerabilities.

  • I inadvertently deleted and emptied the trash bin on Firefox. I have a MAC OSX-VERSION 10.4.11. How can I re-install the latest version of Firefox that is COMPUTER FRIENDLY for the MAC OSX Version 10.4.11? I appreciate any help.

I inadvertently deleted Firefox and emptied the trash bin. I believe it was version 3.5. I have a MAC OSX 10.4.11. After several futile attemps how can I re-install the latest version of Firefox compatible to my MAC system? Thanks!

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer the Firefox builds from Mozilla requires both Mac OSX 10.'''5'''+ and a Intel.
Either you can use 3.6.19 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Though for you 3.6.18 will be safe also as 3.6.19 was to workaround a font crashing issue on 10.7 Lion that was not fixed in time on Lion before release. http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.18/mac/ and pick your language and download the Firefox 3.6.18.dmg

  • How can I revert to a previous version and stop firefox from automatically updating?

I'd like to have the ability to deny an update, some kind of dialogue box. It just went to 9.0.1 with no approval whatsoever.
The reason why is that FF main appeal is the range of extensions, having over half of them non-functional because developers can't keep up with frequent Firefox updates is frustrating beyond compare.

    Hi PJ99,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Installing a previous version of Firefox]]. This will show you how to roll back to an older version.
If you want to turn off automatic updates, just take a look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Updating%20Firefox#w_how-do-i-configure-update-options this article]. That will prevent Firefox from updating automatically.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How can I return to a previous version of firefox?

At this moment I'm running Firefox 35.0.1, and I think I wish to return to whatever was the previous version. I think Firefox updated to this version several weeks ago, and since then strange things are happening.
First of all, I don not like the "manage search engine" set-up. It's different than the one I had a few weeks ago. Now there's nothing at all wrong with this new incarnation, I just don't like the drop down box, etc, (very small issue).
My real concern is, when I'm on a web page, (pick one), any web page, I'll begin hearing audio from some ad. I frantically search the page to see where I can stop the audio, never finding any option. I'll minimize my window, to see if something is behind that window, which I can shut off, but to no avail. This has happened 3 times in the last 48 hours.
Not earth shattering issues, I realize.
But the question would be, is there an easy way that one could return to the version prior to 35.0.1, without damaging anything, (I'm not extremely tech savy).
    Thanks in advance, etc.
    greg

Changing versions often does not cure problems, but it does increase risks.
    * ( Do Not ) [[Install an older version of Firefox]]
The search options will not be changed by downgrading, but there is a method of changing that without downgrading.
    * See Ed's [/questions/1044599#answer-685295]
I am not sure the changes in Firefox 35.0.1 would cause your audio issues
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/35.0.1/releasenotes/
The first step in troubleshooting that may be to identify the tab or page involved, then try Firefox with only the newtab page and the problem page open.
IIRC Firefox is intended to continue streaming audio even if a tab does not have focus. That enables users to stream audio in the background whilst browsing. What you hear may be intended behaviour.

  • Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Firefox.

when i try to open my webmail, using the appropriate password i get the following message: https://webmail.primus.ca/parse.php?file=html/english/xp/xp.html&frame=1
I'd hardly find it necessary to contact the web provider, except for that, so i'd be content to go back a step to be able to NOT have to use Internet Explorer just to check email when i'm on the road

This is a Thunderbird forum. Are you actually asking about Thunderbird or really about Firefox?
In both cases, the answer is pretty much the same; go to the site (below), drill down to the version you want, on the platform you use (windows/mac/linux), in the language you use, and download it, then run it.
There is no need to uninstall the previous version.
    Thunderbird email: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/
    Firefox browser: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/
I think most "usability" issues with Thunderbird would be addressed by using TB v24.6. I'm not so sure what would have changed in Firefox to annoy you. ;-)

  • How can I go back to previous version of firefox cause 4 sucks and I am going to have to go back to internet explorer?

This version is horrible, and I want to downgrade back to previous version if I can't then I am going back to internet explorer, the search engine is an aberration...just trying to perform a search for hotmail sign in page and had to click on have a dozen responses before I find the one I want where before was right there at the top. If I cannot go back to a previous version, just tell me so I can start using internet explorer, it is horrible as well but at least search engine was not as frustrating to use!!!!

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf.
