After Updating to iO5 I can't get past settings on IPAD2

Ok, any help is great. I updated my Ipad2 to iO5 and now I cant get past setting it up off Itunes. It says SIMCARD cant be read ....
I dont use the 3G cellular account, in fact, i forgot my username and password. so its been off for months.
DO I HAVE to have a working sim card to ever use this sucker again? I will search the forum for similar problems, but I have been looking a while now.

My iphone 3GS does not show up in iphoto , aperture, or image capture.
Any image taken since I turned on photstream show up in iphoto correctly.
How can I get the pre-photstream images into iphoto?

Updated my iPad and can't get past agreeing to t&c as the part on my screen where u have to agree is broke. Is there any way around this or will it only be resolved when screen is fixed?

Try a device reset and start over again with the setup.
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Re-reading the post, I now see your issue more clearly...can you rotate the screen (be sure Orientation Lock is disabled) to have the "agree" tap-able section in a different physical place (out of the bad section) on the screen so the bad part of the screen will be in a different area? Give that a try.

Performed software update and now I can't get past a window with Itunes logo and usb picture?

When I powered up the Ipad this morning, there was a software update notification. After completing the update, the Ipad won't boot past a screen that has the Itunes logo and a USB cord just below it. I've powered off and it still wont get past this screen.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.

After updating to Mavericks I can't open iTunes. I keep getting a popup telling me to unclick "run in 32- bit mode" in iTunes info. I have done that several times and rebooted. Everything else seems to be working fine.

What version of iTunes do you have? The current version of iTunes for Mavericks is 11.1.5 and the default mode is 64 bit. If "Open in 32 bit mode" is checked and you cannot uncheck it are you logged on using an account with administrative priveleges?

One needs to press the home and sleep / wake keys together for the phone to reset
The other thing I could recommend
Let the battery run out and the phone completely "die"
It may take a day or two with it not being used
Then plug it in to charge and see if there is any change in behavior
If you cannot get this to work - you may need to bring it to an Apple store
