After updating to Yosemite

I'm now unable to Airprint from my iMac, but can Airprint from my iPhone & iPad. The printer in an Epson XP-410. I've installed all driver, s/w upgrades I can find to no avail. I deleted the printer & now can't add it. It says "An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with printer at this time."? HELP!! I'm getting my wife slowly over to the Apple side but this isn't helping any.

Well no, iWeb will not be available in the App Store because it has not been sold or supported by Apple for over 2 years now and unsupported products are not normally sold in the App Store.
If you want iWeb on that Mac, then you will need to install it from the other Mac - if that Mac has iWeb on it, then you'll need to use the old install cd that came with it and load iWeb onto the other Mac from that and if you no longer have access to that, then the only other way that you can get it is to go to Amazon and purchase it there, by purchasing either the iLife 09 or iLife 11 DVD boxed set and getting it that way.
Other than that, you need to look at purchasing new software for creating websites - there are plenty of alternatives such as RapidWeaver, Sandvox, EverWeb, Freeway Pro/Express 7, WebAcappella 4 and Flux v.

  • Netflix Streaming on MacMini does not work after update to Yosemite

Netflix videos will no longer stream :
I am using a MacMini (late 2012) with an HP w2207h display.  Intel processor 2.5 GHz Core !5  Intel  HD Graphics 4000 1024 MG  After updating to Yosemite, 10.10.1, I cannot stream videos from the Netflix site.
All of the monitor specs. would indicate that streaming videos in HDCP would be possible.  Everything streamed very well until approximately 4 days ago.
I have changed the display resolution to 1080p.  I have disconnected the monitor and reconnected it several times.  I have updated iTunes as well as Yosemite.

Have you went to NetFlix's support site?

  • Cannot download Iphoto after updated to Yosemite

I cannot update Iphoto anymore after updated to Yosemite. The system popped up a small window and showed that: update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. But it is my own account, I just changed the password.
Please help me to solve this problem.

That means, that your AppleID is not associated with the iPhoto version you have installed.
Which version of iPhoto do you currently have?  Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID (in the Store" menu).
If iPhoto came preinstalled on your Mac, check the "Purchases" tab of the App Store, if there is an "Accept" button besides iPhoto. If yes, accept iPhoto to associate it with your Apple ID.  Then try again to update.
If that does not work, uninstall iPhoto - move the iPhoto app from the Applications folder to the Trash and then go to the "Featured" tab of the App Store, search for iPhoto using the Search field, then press the "Get" button to install iPhoto again, this time with your current AppleID:

  • I cannot run iPhoto after update to Yosemite.  I cannot update iPhoto because the application store does not have any iPhoto update available.  Anyone can advice how to overcome this hassle?

After update to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPhoto program icon is banned and there is an error message that an update is required to run iPhoto, but the application store shows a message that iPhoto does not have any update available at this time.  There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store.  Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Unfortunately, Apple has removed both iPhoto and Aperture from the Mac App Store so they cannot be downloaded anymore. This means you are forced to migrate to Photos (included in OS X 10.10.3) or, if this app does not include features you need, look for a different app.
Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
    Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

  • Scrubbing no longer works after updating to Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite yesterday and restarting this morning, I've noticed several problems.  The biggest is that scrubbing in the timeline is very buggy, unresponsive, and sometimes doesn't work at all.  I've tried turning it off and on, restarting FCP and my mac to no avail.
Also switching between tools via keyboard shortcuts and the playhead moving between edits have been sluggish as well.  Library is stored on a thunderbolt connected RAID
    FCP v 10.1.3    Yosemite v10.10   Mac Pro  Processor: 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5  Ram: 16GB   GPU:  AMD FirePro D500

Permissions issues from the new account?
My impression, from my own experience and paying attention to other users' issues, is that 10.1.3 running on 10.10 is generally the fastest, most stable combination since the application was first introduced. This weekend I did a full days work on a couple of unfamiliar systems, new iMacs with shared storage, over two dozen projects, and I encountered no glitches whatsoever.
So that's why I was interested in your media drive and whether there might be something in your user account that the OS or FCP was struggling with.
Here is a kind of check list that Richard Taylor compiled. Why not go through it to see whether you discover a remedy.

  • After update of Yosemite, Finder couldn´t get access...

After update of Yosemite, Finder couldn´t get access to Time Capsule. Connection failed. Restart of the Time Capsule doesn´t solve the problem.

    The trick seems to be:
    unmount volume (eject whatever)
    turn wifi off
    turn wifi on
Cmd-K (or whatever) to find and remount volume.
This is with Yosemite 10.10.1 update.

while trying to access my local network I get the message..."The page could not be opened because server cannot be found."  This, after updating to Yosemite and paying (again) for the server app.

It's absolutley scandalous that a company with Apple's resources can let this happen.  They should have staggered the release by region rather than opening the flood gates.  The upgrade itself took me about 10 attempts to download it, and then I thought I was home free.  That was until it rebooted and won't activate.  It's over 2 hours now.
    Scandalous!

  • After updating to Yosemite, mail will not import.  How can I retrieve it?

When I tried to import my mail after updating to Yosemite, it starts to import the mail, but stops mid-way.  I have mail saved on my MacBook Pro that is from email accounts that are no longer in use.  Is this why this is happening?  I need those emails.  Is there any way to get them back?  It would have been nice to have gotten some kind of warning before the update began.

None of the included apps can be deleted.
Is Restrictions enabled at Settings > General > Restrictions?
If so, is Camera turned on as a Restriction?

  • After updating to Yosemite, why will my windows in Safari and Microsoft Word close unexpectedly with no method of retrieval?

On two different occasions after updating to Yosemite this has happened. On the first occasion I had two documents open in Microsoft Word and after looking something up on Safari, attempted to go back to the two open documents. Microsoft Word was showing as open, but the documents were nowhere to be seen and I also could open nothing else and was forced to force quit without saving my work on those documents.
A similar thing occurred today with Safari. I had many tabs open in one window in Safari. I closed my laptop to move to another room, and upon opening my laptop again Safari was still open, but all my tabs of different research papers I had were gone. When I chose the "reopen all windows from last session" option, it reopened windows I had not had open for many days, and not the ones I had been working off that day.
This is extremely annoying and as a scientist, I was forced to once again look up the many papers I needed for a grant proposal that I had not yet copied down reference information for. Why is this happening?

I see you have used Clean My Mac. If you search these forums you will find that running apps like this can cause problems. Start with this link:

  • After updating to Yosemite brush stops / lags

After updating to Yosemite whenever I am using brush or the eraser tool it stops or lags (I am not sure what to call it).
What happens is I can't hit any other shortcuts keys like "[ ]" for increasing the brush size and even changing tools like pressing "V" but if I click the icon it will be picked.
I checked the history panel it also stops there.
    I am using
    Wacom Bamboo CTH-670
    Wireless keyboard
    Wireless Mouse
    iMac (21.5-inch, Mid2010)
    I also did these things
    - Reinstalled photoshop and driver of Wacom
    - Used the brush in Lightroom (it works perfectly there but not in photoshop)
    - Using the clone stamp tool like a brush it works perfectly.
    What should I do now?

I couldn't see the clear Caches but it is okay now. I got the solution from another post and the solution was
"Are you running CS6? if so, go to Menus, shortcuts, Lasso tool, or Photoshop stop working when using a Wacom tablet | Mac OS
and install the white window workaround plug-in. Let us know if this clears up the issue"
Still I am thankful to everyone who came here.
    Thank you!

    About the Mac
I recently updated to Yosemite and now I am having problems with the above mentioned apps, not opening at all.
I am unable to check to which version its update to, or even update to next version.

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Select the one you want and it should load into FCP X.

    Hi ..
    Might be corrupted preferences.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.screensaver.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac then reset your screen saver.
