I just upgraded to 10.10. On the mail program, one of my accounts is having an issue sending email. I am getting the following error message:
The certificate for this server is invalid.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
But on another machine running Mavericks, I can still continue to send email. The same is try from my iPhone 5S.
On that machine running Mavericks the SMTP is configured as SSL and for "Usual Ports" (25, 465, 587) but THIS OPTION IS MISSING ON THE NEW VERSION. On the new version I have tried configuring the port to 25 and then 465 and 587 with no success. I have used the Network Utility to see if my provider is blocking me -- it is not. I have no third-party software on this machine (anti virus). I can receive email fine. On the new Yosemitie Mail there are new checkbox options of Automatically check my settings and Allow unsecure connections. I tried to uncheck SSL for SMTP but then it says it cannot send securely my passowrd and i need to check the option "Allow to send unsecurely". I did that but the same error message keeps appearing. So I have tried nearly everything I have been able to, all to no avail. Please can somebody help?
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is a POP account. Incoming mail is fine. My port for incoming is also 110. But the outgoing port should be 587 (or 24, 465 and 587 as on Mavericks' "Usual Ports" option). I am using the same configuration across three different devices and only the machine running Yosemite is having issues. I notice in the new version of Mail there is no longer the "Usual Ports" option. I am not sure this is the culprit or not. But the fact is no matter how I configure it, it will not send mail for these particular servers. I have multiple clients and only one is affected, meaning I can send email from other email addresses (different hosting contracts) on Yosemite but on this one particular one I cannot.

I downloaded FF 4 and now 5 and with neither my screen looks nothing like it shows on the FF page. For instance, I do not have the orange FF tab in the upper left corner, I have no option of "pin as app" nor do I have Panorama. Can someone please help me?
To get the orange FF tab, go to View > Toolbars > Menu Bar. This should uncheck the menu bar and give you the orange button.
Panorama is a box made of 4 grey rectangles that should be on the far right, if it isn't after you enable the orange FF tab, right click on anywhere on a tool bar that doesn't have anything on it, and you should get a menu with a list of your tool bars that you can check and uncheck. go down to customize at the very bottom and it will open a window with all your buttons. Find the panorama/tab groups button and drag it onto the tool bar of your choice.
to pin a tab as an app, right click on it; it's an option in the right-click menu. -
After Installing the OS x Mountain Lion some o the softwares are asking for Java SE 6 Runtime. Can someone please help me find a solution.
By default, ML no longer comes with the Java runtime preinstalled. I believe the route to enabling Java if you are going to need it is to run the Java Preferences app found in Utilities. It will inform you of Java's absence and offer to install the latest version and activate it. On subsequent runs, the Preferences app will allow you to fine tune how the runtime operates.
Note that the new default operation is for the applet plugin to be disabled. You need to enable it as needed and it self-deactivates if unused in awhile. Also important to note that Java comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions and you can set the preferred order. Default is 64-bit but I've had issues with some applets failing to run and have had to switch the order. -

It can't be done on the iPad using iPhoto for iOS. You need to use iPhoto for the Mac.

It is 99% hacked/jailbroken iPhone to use a different carrier than intended. You have to put the sim from the original carrier or ask them to unlock the iPhone. We as well as Apple cannot help you with this.

I cannot send out emails from my optonline account from my iphone. Can someone please help? It says that the optonline server for outgoing mail failed but the server name and everything automatically came through when I set up my email. It then asks for a domain and host name. It there a general domain and host name just for optonline?Try to delete and re adding the account, but make sure you know your current server settings, you can find those in the phones settings.
If that does not fix the issue, then it is most likely due the the outgoing mail server settings, I would google how to add a optonline email account to iphone, and you will be able to find those settings, if not i would give the provider of that email a call and ask them for the most up to date outgoing server settings for the iphones.

I updated my iPad mini to ios 7.0.2 couple days ago. Everything was fine until yesterday. I noticed that it seemed to have a mind of its own. If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Runtime error--can someone please help me?!
ok so when i try to open my itunes (i have itunes 7) it opens but almost immediately a window pops up that says "software application has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience." it also says that they prepared an error report to send to microsoft about the problem. i've tried sending it but nothing has happened so now i click the "don't send" option. then a window pops up titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" and it says "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe This application has requested the Runtime terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." i've tried uninstalling quicktime and then repairing iTunes but that doesn't fix it. i don't know what else to do. can someone please help me?!
NoClassDefFoundError happens because the JVM cannot find some class from your program, not because the OS cannot find your JVM (PATH regulates the latter, but not the former). First of all, I live in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Sometimes, I use a VPN to search on the web here. I purchased Toy Story 3 on my MacBook Pro 2011 OS/X - Lion through iTunes. I initially had trouble downloading it which may be due to being on and off the VPN but after a while it finally downloaded and shows up in my iTunes library on my MacBook.
Under my Apple ID account (which is the only Apple ID account I have), I look under purchase history and it shows that I paid for Toy Story which is where I got my Order # from. But if you go to the iTunes Store then to the Quick Links then click on Purchased, under all my Movies, it does NOT show Toy Story 3 as one of my movies.
Now when I go to my iPad (3rd gen.), Toy Story 3 does not show up under purchased movies (all or not on my iPad). It does not show up on my Apple TV as well. If I want to have Toy Story 3 on my iPad or Apple TV, then it says I have to purchase it again.
I have searched for help via Apple support communities but so far none of their solutions have worked for me. I have tried logging off iTunes & App Store on iPad and also shutting down the iPad. I also made sure that under iTunes Preferences>Store that iTunes in the Clouds purchases is checked. Can someone please help me with this? Your consideration is greatly appreciated. thanksYou are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac. No version of iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs. I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher. The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac. I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
