After upgrade to 10.8.3 Sleep mode not functioning

Sleep mode does not function properly.

In what way is it not functioning properly? If you go to System Preferences > Energy Saver are the sleep mode times where you want them? When you logout, do you then click Sleep or do you let the iMac go to sleep according to the settings? Do you have trouble coming out of sleep mode?

I have a Macbook Model Identifier 5,1. (1st gen Alum Macbook). I notice that after I updated to 10.6.5, I have a problem going to sleep mode. When I click on sleep, it will blacken the screen but the LED screen still glows. Usually, it glows for a few second and then the LED powers down so it will be completely dark. Now it just hangs there. I have to use the power down fucntion by pressing it for 4 seconds.
I tried disk utility repair permissions. ANy suggestions?

I have similar problem with MacBook White Identifier 6.1. I have update 10.6.5 and I have a lot of problems with my MacBook. This problem is one of them. My MacBook also often show message Kernel Panic and I can use only power button. It is not good when arrange photos or do other things.
Update 10.6.4 was very good. I didn't have any problem. If I have version 10.6.5, can I return to version 10.6.4?
I don't know, what I can do. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with both my Vivotek wired network camera and Panasonic wireless network cameras. At first I thought this was an issue with the video framework in Mountain Lion, but if Firefox is working (I haven't tried it yet), it sounds like it may be an objective-c video library that has been changed. It's possible Firefox is using an objective-c interface that calls an objective-c function that isn't called by Safari or IP Camera Viewer, etc., (possibly a function that is on its way to be deprecated) or Firefox could use it's own library that directly calls the video framework.
Could be the Mountain Lion objective-c framework has a buffering issue.
Since this is occuring in both 3rd party software and Apple software, it sounds like it's an Apple issue. 3rd party applications typically utilize the Apple Developer objective-c frameworks to access video frameworks/libraries (for example, MJPEG). Thus, contacting 3rd party developers may not solve the situation (unless they can figure out a temporary bandaid--possibly figuring out the video framework call that Firefox uses and patching their software to do the same (not a simple task), but could still provide more feedback to Apple via their developer status.
Has anyone attempted to record from their cameras via iMovie or Final Cut Pro X HD? I will try mine later tonight to see if it records the hanging. If it does, then it's looking more and more like Apple's the culprit.

Lenovo s10 3t sleeping mode not working???

I just received my lenovo ideapad 2 days ago and upgraded to ultimate.. my problem is , even before i upgraded it and it was on windows starter, whenever i put on sleeping or hibernate mode, it actually SHUTS DOWN? after putting/thinking it was on sleeping mode, i tried to turn it on again, hoping that it will go back to where it was before., then i realized, i have to go on the safe mode or start normally coz it said it didn't properly shuts down. BUT i didn't even shut it down.. i only put it on sleeping mode.. why is it so? anyone have the same prob? or am i pressing the wrong button (the power button) in order to turn it back on from the sleeping mode.. it really bugs me that it always kinda restarting when it is supposed to be asleep!!! i changed the power setting to having the sleep mode longer than an hour and tested it within few minutes by putting on the sleep mode and try to put it back on, it still goes into computer not properly shut down ---> safe mode or start normally window thingy.. what is wrong here???

Section options check Enable Hibernation check Auto adjust schemes according to battery power
Sectionower buttons When I close the lid of my portable computer choose Stand By
When I press the power button on my computer choose Shut Down

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

After upgrading to Lion, my Canon 7d can not be found. I have used the USB connection to connect to my camera for several years with no problems, until now. I have reset the SMC, by powering off the computer and unplugging everything for approx 30 minutes. There are no new drivers available and any assistance will be appreciated.

I was having the same issue after upgrading to Lion OSX. I searched the web and found many people had the same problem but no solution so...
I called Canon and they told me to run 'Image Capture' its part of the Canon Software Suite so you should have it and then try downloading the pictures like you usually do. I use 'Image Browser' and with 'Image Capture' running in the background it works perfectly now.

when you bought it, did 2 versions download? For a bunch of shows I bought recently, I got 2 versions - a HD version and a standard (SD) version. To make room, I moved the files off my computer. When I wanted to watch the individual episodes on my iphone, I'd move the SD version back to the computer, and sync it with the iphone. After the recent upgrades - snow leopard, itunes 9, iphone 3.1, something got broken. When I would transfer the SD versions to my computer to sync with the iphone, for some reason something would rename the files with a (HD) tag at the end of the file name (even though they were the SD versions). Removing that tag in finder was all I needed to do to make it work. Odd.

Found the answer:
Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.

After upgrading to 10.3 OS I do not get Facebook notifications. Only when I go in the FB app I can see I have some notifications. But I do not receive alerts/notifications just as other apps like what's app or BBM on my Q10

If Xandrex's solution does not work, I have fixed this more than once by removing my FB account and the app, then reinstall and re-add. I like Xandex's solution better if it works tho

This started happening to me on my iPhone 4. Some text messages show only the numer they came from and those same numbers do not show the contact name in my calls list, even though the contacts are saved and synced via iCloud. I have tried to save different versions of the number in the same contact, but it won't work. If I call one of the recent numbers though, the conact comes up. I have tried reseting and restoring to no avail.

Have you tried changing the order in Network Preferences pane?
Open System Preferences/Networks/Click the gear symbol under the service list. Select set service order then drag. If your wifi is above the ethernet move the ethernet to the top. Click ok. Click apply (bottom left) and test.
