After upgrade to 6.1, Alarm now asks to "download over cellular"???

After installing 6.1, each time I try to set an alarm in the Clock app (choosing a song in iTunes as the alarm sound), I get a warning message "Dowload Over Cellular?" and some text about how downloading songs over cellular can use a lot of data.
That's really weird!
It seems if I click "cancel" it won't use the song as the alarm. If I click "download" it will play the song.
Come on, Apple, you never made these kind of sloppy mistakes before... I'm getting worried about you...
I've been using the alarm in the clock app since they added it in iOS6 with no problem. I wonder what's going on....

Yes it's a song that's on my phone, in iTunes. And it's a song I didn't purchase from iTunes. I transferred it from an old CD.
I came across one other discussion in here with several people with the same issue. So it's a bug in 6.1.
One person in this discussion said the problem went away after a day.

after upgrade to mavericks: time machine keeps asking for my back up disk and won't open unless i plug in the disk. any solutions?
before the upgrade, i could open time machine without the need for having the back up disk plugged in.

Ok. I got it to work, sort of....
As I mentioned before I tried the "disk password" and the "Time capsule Password" options to see if I can start the back up again or start a new backup. Neither worked. So I tried the firmware down grade, but like you said that did not work. I then decided to try the "Account password" option and I have never used this option before becasue it states that if there is data on the drive it would not be acessable after creating an account. Since I wiped out the disk that was nno problem. When I created the new account and choose the drive it asked for the user name and password. I entered the info for the new account I just created(FYI this has nothing to do with your login username and password), bingo! It worked!
Now I have two partitions on the TC disk. The old one and now the new account. I am guessing this is to be used if I have multiple computers, which I don't.
I any case, I am going to wipe out everything again and try again to do a backup the way I had it before.

Help! I accidentally pushed "allow " after upgrading my husbands  iPhone . Now he gets all my messages! How do I un- do this?!

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

  • Trouble with FP 10.3.183.7 upgrade - wasn't working and now doesn't download

    Current system info:
    Windows 7 (64 bit)
Internet Explorer 9 (using 32 bit for downloading FP)
I upgraded to 10.3.183.7 and immediately noticed my laptop unable to display/use Flash features (facebook games, online flyers, video, etc)
I uninstalled and installed multiple times using both Control Panel and the uninstaller provided on Adobe help page. I restarted my laptop after every install and after every uninstall. I made sure to use 32-bit IE each time.
At first Programs (and Control Panel) showed FP as installed but now it doesn't register as installed at all - aside from the installer program telling me it is installed.
After installing, on the Adobe 'test' page instead of the spinning F I see a box with an 'x' in the top left hand corner (like an image/graphic that won't load).
I tried the beta FP 11 but same problem. It at least showed up on my programs list. I uninstalled it and am back to FP 10.3
I have been on the help page trying anything I can find to get it working but no luck so far. Any advice for this issue?
    Thanks,
    Jill

FP does appear in my Control Panel for uninstalling but does not appear in my Programs list. I downloaded Google Chrome and FP seems to work with it (though I'm not a big fan of the browser)So, it would appear to be an IE issue? Subject: Trouble with FP 10.3.183.7 upgrade - wasn't working and now doesn't download
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    >

  • I set up Icloud, now when I try to listen to a song on my ipone 5s it asks me if I want to "download over cellular"? and additional fees may apply.  I've already bought this music, why would there be any more fees?

I bought my first Iphone - the Iphone S about a month ago.  I was able to listen to music no problem.  I recently figured out how to get my photos off of my phone and on to my PC, but was prompted to sign up for ICloud to do it.  Now when I try to listen to music on my phone, it asks me to download it from Icloud and asks "download over cellular"?  "Additional fees may apply when downloading phones over cellular".  I've already bought all my music, why would there be more fees and shouldn't ICloud have mentioned this?  Seems I need to take a class just to figure all this out.

The clouds you see next to your music on the device and iCloud are two different things. When your music is not on your device it is in iTunes in the Cloud. Not the same thing as iCloud which is used to sync information between devices and house backups of your device contents. So that little cloud you see next to your songs is telling you that the music is not on your device. That's why it is giving you the message - because when you click on it, it is attempting to download it to your device.
What may have happened is when you imported your photos to the PC, you may have sync'd your device via iTunes, and you did not have the Sync Music option checked in your device Profile screen.
Hook up your device to your PC and open iTunes. Make sure the sidebar is showing (Control+S if you cannot see the sidebar with Devices listed), and click on your device to open the Device Profile screens to the right. Click on the Music tab, and make sure that the Sync All Music or Sync Selected Music box is checked. If you have Sync Selected Music checked, then below that, make sure you check all music that you want on your device. Then click on SYNC at the bottom (or APPLY).
Once you have successfully sync'd your music to your device, you will no longer see the cloud next to the songs, and you also will no longer get a message since you will have the songs physically on your device and not in iTunes in the Cloud.
    Cheers,
    GB

My hbo go app  from new iPad .. Then after full reformat of device I now can't download hbo go app. What's up?

    Thanks for helping
Hbo go isn't currently installed. It dissapeared from iPad home screens but not from settings. Waited for update. When it finally came I saw hbo icon during update then when it finished the update it dissapeared again.
Saw it in my apps on my computer. Tried to sync it back. No luck.. Reformatted  device .. Tried to download hbo go. The install button in the app store won't highlight. I notice max go app won't highlight either. or photon flash browser too.  Weird stuff. Does it not work on new iPad ?

After upgrading my ipad3 to ios7 it is asking me for a passcode. I have never had a passcode on my ipad so I tried a few and it is now disabled.

    Hi neil161,
This article contains instructions on what to do if your device is disabled:

  • Can't backup iPad air on iCloud after upgrade to iOS8 - no "backup now" button

Hi all, after upgrading 2 ipad air's to iOS8, I can't back them up, or restore for that matter. Going into the iCloud->storage->manage storage menu I can't find any backup or restore buttons anywhere.
    anyone else have this problem?

With iOS 8 the backup button has been moved, it's now in the list of options on the Settings > iCloud screen (iCloud Drive, Photos, Mail, Contacts etc - Backup is the third last option on that list)

  • After upgrading to 3.1.2 none of my downloaded applications work...

Hello, i just bought my ipod touch 32 Gig with 3.1.1 and downloaded over 50 apps, and they were working excellently right up until i upgraded to 3.1.2... now none of my downloaded apps will initiate.
I understand if it was a couple, but NONE of them that didn't already come with the ipod will do more than flash their initial screen then blink off and take me back to my ipod touch menu.
Its very frustrating. My music is fine, but i bought the touch for the extra functionality to go beyond being a music player... i want to use my apps again.
    Help please.
    jamin

I had the same problem. Every single one of my downloaded apps would not work. I called support and didn't get much of an answer. Basically SOL. I tried deleting an app and then downloading it again. That app worked fine. But I had some data on one of my apps, so I didn't really want to go delete the app and reload it.
I had a second problem to ask, on the same support call, regarding an issue with the GPS. He had me go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET NETWORK SETTINGS. This fixed the GPS problem. After thanking him for getting the GPS to work again, I hung up and went to check on one of my apps again, trying to think of what I could do to fix that problem. Well, what do ya know?! All of my apps were suddenly working now!
I don't know if it was resetting the network settings or not, but that is really all that I did between the time the apps didn't work and they did work. So, I would be interested to see if resetting the Network Settings might fix anyone else's problem. Doesn't really seem logical, but it apparently worked for me.

  • "Download over Cellular?" Notification when setting alarm!

I have a 4S with 6.1.3 and I just started getting this message a couple days ago.  No clue why, I don't think I have changed anything, I am using the same song I have always used for my alarm.
Any thoughts? Apple? Hellooooooooo?  I've seen two or three other similar posts.  Anyone else know the fix?  Not the work around?

I was playing around with my phone and found this. Go to Settings--> General--> Cellular and look at the cellular data. I turned my setting to off and it fixed the problem. Not sure what else it shuts off but as I said I don't get that message anymore when I set my clock.
I was looking online and found something else, people getting charged large for over cellular data, maybe face time being used on wifi - that fix was going to Settings--> iTunes&App stores--> Use Cellular Data and setting that to off. My setting was set off but as I said others have had big problems.
    Hope that fixes your problem

  • Mac set-up window appears 3 days after upgrade-everything was fine 'til now

I posted a question recently in the iMac (CRT) forum and linked to it here (regarding disappearing finder/desktop on my father-in-law's computer after an OS 10.3 upgrade via DVDs purchased from Other World Computing). I solved the problem (or so I thought) by purchasing a different set of Panther CDs (from applerescue.com) and installing them.
Unfortunately, he can't get into his old desktop and files again. But the problem is different than the one that presented itself on that previous upgrade. At least after that one, he had access to his old files, etc.
The installation (Archive and Install) was done on Thursday. Several reboots were successful that day. I left the upgrade (from 10.3) to 10.3.9 for another time. My father-in-law started up successfully that night, Friday, and Saturday (though he ran into a problem with a printer that was not recognized - easily repaired, had that been the only problem). This morning, Sunday, he started up and was unhappily presented with the OS X welcome screen. I ran over to his house this afternoon and was unable to bypass the screen by any method I knew of (as I said, his computer behaved normally prior to today --- booted right up into his account as before the upgrade for the past three days). I started to enter information into the unavoidable fields, but aborted when I realized that I might not have access to his old accounts (and files, which we had backed up, of course).
What could possibly be causing the welcome window to show up? I've only seen it in two circumstances: 1) Starting up a new computer; 2) When doing an erase and install.
While waiting to see whether anyone has a clue as to what has happened, I will connect my computer to his and see whether all his old files are intact.
In case it helps, here is the older item regarding this computer posted in the iMac G3 forum:

Thanks for your insight (as opposed to iSight).

The old iMac is now working fine, so I've marked the question as answered, even though I still don't know why the problem occurred or how, exactly, it got fixed.
Here's the latest, for anyone interested in the outcome:
When we last looked in on our father-in-law's hapless computer, it was displaying the welcome screen/set-up window after the Archive and Install of 10.3 from a new set of (supposedly) universal install disks. It was behaving like a new computer that had never been used before (or like a computer whose OS was installed after a complete wiping of the disk). An examination via our own G5 iMac (with the CRT iMac in Target Disk Mode) showed that all the files and accounts were intact, yet the computer was still insisting that we set up an account so we could use it.
Concerned that we might lose (easy) access to the old main account - even though we had backed up everything, I elected to reinstall the OS hoping to avoid erasing the disk. When I had done this a few days ago (using the new disks to install 10.3 over the 10.3.9 version that was working but not showing the desktop/finder), I did an Archive and Install, since (of course) I couldn't install an earlier version on top of a later version.
This time, I had the Upgrade option available. I have no idea why, since I was installing the same version of the software as was in the machine already. (That may be normal, however. I don't know, nor does it matter particularly.) I chose that option, rather than Archive and Install hoping the iMac would rediscover its accounts.
The installation went smoothly (though it took lots longer, since I forgot to de-select all the printer drivers and other language support). However, I was presented with the welcome screen yet again. A quick check, again via the G5 with the CRT iMac in Target Disk Mode, showed that all the files and accounts were still there.
I had nothing to lose, so I set up a new account. Once I had a desktop, I went to System Preferences/Accounts, and saw that both older accounts were still there (marked as Administrator accounts as before). I changed the login preferences, selecting the old main user account for automatic login.
I restarted, and the old desktop appeared. All the files were intact and accessible, so I updated to 10.3.9 with the matching Java update.
Hopefully that's the end of it. The previous strange behavior is still a mystery, though.
As to the disks, I understand the nature of machine specific disks and the problems they can cause, even though those eMac DVDs worked fine with my old retired PowerBook. Those disks were sold as UNIVERSAL install disks (or I wouldn't have bought them) by Other World Computing - I wonder how they can make that claim. Those disks also installed 10.3.4 on the iMac (which I then updated to 10.3.9), but the Finder did not work, and I couldn't get a desktop, as I said in an earlier message. Why they worked on the PowerBook, i don't know.
This latest set of Panther disks (3 CDs) were sold by applerescue.com as universal install disks also. They are version 10.3 only (not 10.3.x) and are not marked for any particular machine. However, they are white, not black like the illustration that Don and others have linked to as being the retail version of the OS. Are they the problem? Who knows? And where did they come from if they aren't the retail version or a machine specific version?
Sooner or later, I'd like to figure all of this out, but for now we have a working computer.
    (Thanks again to Don Morgan.)

  • After upgrading thunderbird worked somewhat and now will not open.

Thunderbird was acting weird so I upgraded to whatever came up after clicking update. It worked a few times and now will not open. Clicking it produces the timer spiral for a second or two and then it stops not opening program, would like to know how to fix or at the least be able to retrieve emails and dictionary. running win 7
    Thanks,
    David
