After Upgrade to 7.1.1, Attaching iPod Crashes Windows XP

Question

After upgrading my computer with iTunes 7.1.1 it will crash every time I attach my iPod Photo. What I have tried so far:
1. Running "Repair" from Install/Uninstall Programs.
2. Uninstall/Reinstall with a newly downloaded copy of iTunes.
3. Reset my iPod
If iTunes is running and I attach the iPod, it crashes almost at once. If I start the computer with the iPod already attached, iTunes will load and seem to be working for several minutes before crashing. When I restarted my computer after resetting (and attaching) the iPod, iTunes opened and proceeded to re-download all my 1,000 plus songs and continued doing so until it downloaded them all, then crashed the computer. ???
Does anyone have any ideas on what my next steps should be? Everything was working fine until I installed v7.1.1. Can, or should I return to a previous version of iTunes?

OK... Before running the DVD/CD diagnostics, I inserted music CD's into both of my drives. I have had no problems importing CD's using previous versions of iTunes but have never tried to import a DVD. The diagnostics show all green but still shows that error re bus type. Here is the resulting dialog:
