After upgrade to maverick - file sharing ask for permission to open files
after updating to maverick. my files i share with my office pc. can't open the document & ask for permission from the computer or administrator for asstiance. very time i have open up info and push "apply to enclosed items". for to get these to open and work. worked fine before maverick. seems its not to keepping the sharing and permission info. need help! plus I have tryed to use it in drop box ,plus in other folders but they all seem to be doing the same thing. Or do I have to go back to mountain lion or lion?
Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper (v 2.8). Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.

I cannot get my Acrobat Pro to open. I already uninstalled it and re installed it. But still does not open. The program pops to ask for permission to open the program, but it never actually opens. I trouble shoot it and it says incompatible application.
It sounds like an issue of trying to run XI on VISTA. That combination does not work. Info on both the Acrobat full version (including sub-version) and OS would help. It might also be an issue of running 11.0.0 on a system that needs the updates to work.

Our company's https Intranet site worked OK with FF 22. With v23 a small drop down box keeps appearing every time we go to a different page on the site. It asks for permission to load the page. With constant use this is extremely irritating. There is no option to allow the site. What's the fix or should I go back to IE which had its own set of stupid questions.
hello, for details on why this blocking mechanism was introduced in firefox please refer to [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]].
if you'd like to generally turn of mixed content blocking nevertheless, enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''security.mixed_content.block_active_content'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''. -
After upgrading to Mavericks, iTunes keeps asking to sync podcasts
I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and signed into my mac with my Apple ID. Now, when I play podcasts through iTunes, every time I load iTunes, or click away from podcasts in iTunes and then back, it continually gives me this prompt:
You are signed in with a different Apple ID than previously used with Podcasts. Do you want to sync these podcasts subscriptions and stations with “[my Apple ID]”?
It doesn’t matter if I click “Sync” or “Don’t Sync”, it does nothing and then keeps bringing this alert up. I also believe I WAS signed in with the same Apple ID in iTunes before I upgraded.
Any ideas on how to have iTunes stop asking me this?Ok, for some reason these posts didn't come up when I googled it, but the suggested posts on the side of this page ("More Like This") were helpful. I personally wound up deleting all my subscriptions, and turning off podcast syncing in the Preferences… > Store and then I turned it back on.
See: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25817278#25817278
I believe it's possible that I didn't need to delete my subscriptions, but that's what I did because I read someone suggested to do it. You might just be able to turn off the podcast syncing preference and then turn it back on. -
After upgrading to Mavericks on MacBook Pro, help doesn't open
I have a MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.4 with a processor 2.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo with memory of 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I just upgraded to Mavericks last week and now I can't get the help menus to open when in Finder or using Numbers. I haven't checked the other applications. Do I need to do something with my help menu items? If so what would that be?
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.4 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.4 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo). -

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Windows 7? It's listed in the system requirements for CC 2014. If you don't have SP1, AE won't run.
That GPU sniffer error message is usually what happens. This should be a simple fix! Of course, you should always take the normal precautions when updating an OS, but still... -
Reader 9 asks for permission to open under Mac parental controls
Reader 9
eMacs running 10.4.x, latest updates
iMac dual core Intel running 10.5.x, latest updates
High school lab, with parental access turned on for students, Acrobat allowed.
Whenever I try to open it as a student, a window comes up asking:
Type an administrators name and password to make changes to Adobe Reader.
If I click on Details it says:
"Requested right: system.privilege.admin
Application: Adobe reader"
If I click Cancel on the approval screen, Acrobat opens and appears to work fine. It is a bit of a pain with 2500 students.Just to be clear in case others run across this problem too, the resetting of global settings is in the preferences?
Thanks for taking the time to come back and post your solution, I appreciate it!

Giving permission to open files
I recently download a folder with a bunch of files in it and my mac is asking for permission to open each one individually. Is there a way to select them all and give permission to open them all or do I have to continue to click each one individually and click okay? I'm running mac os x lion if that information is needed. Thanks all for your help in advance!
Hi fubar2007,
I'm not sure I follow. Unless a PDF is password-protected, you should be able to open it directly in Adobe Acrobat or Reader--no need to sign in to open files. (If the PDF does have password security, you would need to get that password from whomever created the file.)
Now, if you have a subscription to an Acrobat.com online service, you can log in directly to https://cloud.acrobat.com with your Adobe ID or password. You can also sign in via Adobe Reader by clicking the blue Sign In button in the upper-right corner of the Tools panel.

after upgrade to mavericks: time machine keeps asking for my back up disk and won't open unless i plug in the disk. any solutions?
before the upgrade, i could open time machine without the need for having the back up disk plugged in.Ok. I got it to work, sort of....
As I mentioned before I tried the "disk password" and the "Time capsule Password" options to see if I can start the back up again or start a new backup. Neither worked. So I tried the firmware down grade, but like you said that did not work. I then decided to try the "Account password" option and I have never used this option before becasue it states that if there is data on the drive it would not be acessable after creating an account. Since I wiped out the disk that was nno problem. When I created the new account and choose the drive it asked for the user name and password. I entered the info for the new account I just created(FYI this has nothing to do with your login username and password), bingo! It worked!
Now I have two partitions on the TC disk. The old one and now the new account. I am guessing this is to be used if I have multiple computers, which I don't.
I any case, I am going to wipe out everything again and try again to do a backup the way I had it before. -
after i upgrade to mavericks, every time i create folder or delete files, they keep asking me ti fill the password, but only on my finder? help me please Thank You
As a first step, open Disk Utility > select your hard drive > repair disk permissions.

After upgrading to Mavericks App store only works for me when I switch over other users
After upgrading to Mavericks, the only options that work for me on App Store are Updates and Purchases, anything else only works if I switch my user either to guest or root? Any idea? Thx in advance.
Read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data.
Quit the App Store application if it’s running. Wait at least 10 seconds before continuing.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.appstore
Caches/com.apple.storeagent
Caches/storeagent
Cookies/com.apple.appstore.cookies
Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.appstore.plist
Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.storeagent.plist
Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
Leave the Library folder open. Try the App Store again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again and wait 10 seconds. Go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
Test. If the App Store now works, delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit again. Put back the files you moved, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place, and post your results. -
