After Upgrade to OS X Mavericks installation hangs missing Data

Downloaded the OS from App store and installed it, it said less then minute left but here it just hung. I rebooted and it seems like it installed and asked me to fill in basic user info etc , network ssid. After doing that my applications are still there but data is gone complete including picures and download folders etc. I check disk utility and it seems like the disk is still full so the data is somewhere still on HD but I dont know where it is. Also when it had asked whether to migrate Data during installation I selceted don't transfer so perhaps that was the mistake. Is it possible to go back to the same setup? or retrive my data

OS X Mavericks created a new user account that hasn't got your files. However, you should still keep your old user account, which keeps your files.
To access to your old user account, go to  > Log Out, and log in with your old user account. You can remove the other user account in System Preferences > Users & Groups.
In case this didn't work, I hope you have got a backup of your files

Is this a Firewire or Thunderbolt connected disk? There are know issues with that in Mavericks. If so try connecting the drive by USB as you continue.
Is it a WD drive? There appear to be issues with those drive on Mavericks.

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks syslogd needs lot of memory and cpu, system is very slow

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks the system is very slow. securityd and syslogd are using 50% of cpu and memory is also used by syslogd and kerneltask (8 GB out of 12). After rebooting the system it runs very well, a view days later (without reboot, only hibernating) the situation is the same.
Looks like a problem in OS X. Any solutions?

I haven't worked out the LDAP messages but I noticed at other times I was seeing lots of album art messages from BlackBerry desktop. I'd already uninstalled the app but it still had processes running. Hi, I had this same problem. I have a load of work subfolders and was showing the message header but no content. I think it lost the link to the original messages.
There may be a simpler way but I fixed it by going to the mail folders in finder. I took the following steps:
Go to user library (hold down the alt key whilst clicking the Go menu in finder to access user library)
Go to user/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes. You should be able to see your mailboxes and your original messages (ending .emlx) after clicking down the hierachy in each mailbox. For some reason mail added a "-2" onto the end of each mailbox which I think has caused the problem.
Copy each required mailbox (.mbox) onto desktop. I removed the "-2" at this stage to clean things up.
In Mail, choose File/Import Mailboxes....
Import data from: Apple Mail. Click continue, navigate to desktop and choose the relevant .mbox folders. Click Choose.
It should then import the mail to a new folder called import in mail. You can then rename that folder or move the subfolders out.
I moved the .mbox folders on my desktop to my documents folder as a backup just in case. I then deleted the problem mailboxes from the finders mailboxes folder.
Problem solved - for me anyway!!

Okidata printer errors after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

Immediately after upgrading to OS X Mavericks, when I try to print with my Okidata C330DN color laser printer will NOT print in color.
I get this message:
"The Print Dialog Extension could not be loaded because it has not been updated to run in this application's secure environment".
I contacted Okidata, who said "give us a week" to update the driver. Well, they updated their driver, I just installed it, and get THE SAME ERROR...

This is because of sandboxing, and Okidata will need to release another driver that handles these permissions issues. You can try printing from a non-sandboxed application like Safari, if that helps.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that after updating your computer to 10.9.3 iTunes stops responding when an iPhone is connected to it. There may be few different steps you will need to go through to get this resolved. I suggest working through the steps in the attached article.

My Dock icons looks garbled after upgrading to OS X Maverick.Not all but most of them look like scattered dots instead of the icons, tried restarting multiple times still no use.
I installed OS X Maverick last week and for a week it looked fine. I have restarted the OS for copule of times after upgrade. Now the Icons in the dock seem to be garbled.

The dock preferences may be corrupted ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash
Restart your Mac.

Printing problem with HP laserjet 1100A after upgrading to Mac OS Maverick

Good afternoon,
I have always been able to use my HP Laserjet 1100A with my iMac till I upgraded to Mac OS Maverick.
After giving a printing order just one order will be carried out.
In case I have 3 printjobs I have te restart the iMac twice to carry out all the print jobs.
I am using USB for connection.
When I use the printer with my Windows computer (Windows 7) there is no problem at all with the required printjobs.
I guess the driver Gutenprint v5.2.3 is the cause of the problem.
Is there a new printerdriver available?

Also I tried to reboot and restart and nothing happens still unresponsive.

I bought my iMac about 2 years ago, it worked fine, no problems until a few months ago, i upgraded to OS X Mavericks because it came up on app store updates and it was free so i upgraded. Ever since then it is very picky about which DVDs it plays, some it accepts straight away with no hassle, others it tries to read for a while until eventually ejecting. I have looked in other discussions but there isn't a solution that i've read that works. Any suggestions?

I have just had the same problem with my iMac and after upgrading to Mavericks my iMac would not wake without pressing the power off button and re-booting.
Anyway, I have since done a complete new install on my iMac and have gone 5 days without an issue with the iMac not waking. It was a bit of a pain to do but my own view so far is that the problem is linked to the upgrading of the OS instead of a clean install.
My iMac now flies with a new OS installed instead of an upgrade.

Keyboard start typing and make "Funk" sound by itself after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

After I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, whenever I press the Home key (↖︎) OS X starts typing "~6" characters in Terminal and making the sound called "Funk".
Also this happens after wake up and power up and randomly.
On the login screen it always start making the "Funk" sound like crazy.
I did reset keyboard shortcuts, removed and closed running programs, changed keyboard layouts, reset SMC and PRAM, but I can't stop it happening. I can induce it by pressing the Home key in terminal and wake up from sleep, but other cases I don't know what causes this. The problem appear just randomly even when I'm using the computer or not...
This is driving me crazy.

Restarting, sleep mode, shut down doesn't seem to have any effect. I plugged out, plugged in, the problem still occured. I restarted, and put it in a different USB port and seems to be solved now.
