After upgrade Yosemite "Message" wants to refresh database...

After upgrade to Yosemite everything works find except "Nachrichten" (in english "Message" so the earlier iChat) is not working. When i start "message" it shows a window (i got it in german but in english it must be something like:) "Message is updating / refresh the message-database, please wait...."
I wait for 5 minutes. Nothing. I can cancel it and when i open message again, it will happen the same. Did check rights of files, did reboot the system. If i look to activites, message is listed does nothing.
Error messages from console:
(com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent) The _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit key is not available on this platform.

Hi Rene,
When you found out that you misread the instrucition and you already ran the script, what did you do next? Did you restore the db and redo over? Or did you continue on? I have the same problem with you too but I'm not sure what to do next.

CS 5.5 doesn't run after upgrading on MOS Yosemite because of missing of old version of Java SE6-Runtime. After download of this version Photoshop doesn't still run. I don't know, what I should do, and the support of Adobe is the worsest I know.

ITunes won't start after upgrade--error message

When I launched iTunes after upgrading to 6.0.1, I got the following message after agreeing to the usual legal terms:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder."

Thank you for the reply and your suggestions.
Yes, I did take a look in the Music folder--and no, the file was not there. I then used Spotlight and did find an iTunes Music folder, but when I tried to copy it to the Music folder I got error message -36, saying that parts of the file weren't readable and, therefore, not copyable.
I also used my disk utility to repair permissions and re started the computer---with the same results.
I'm not sure what else to try and may take my computer to my local expert.

Problem after upgrading yosemite 10.0.2 to 10.0.3

I have a Macbook pro 15,4 mid 2010 , CPU 2.53, Ram 8GB, VGA Intel 256, HDD SSD 240 OCZ Vertex 460.
After upgrading the software noticed that uses several processor without any reason the photo application thus raises the temperature and vation battery life ...... In general, the new photo application runs in the background without any particular reason, I wanted to know if I somehow disable it, because otherwise you get fired processor from ... temperature reaches 103 degrees Celsius
But I wonder why Apple has not predict ???
Should not inform us about whether there are such problems ??

Re-connecting contacts after upgrading to Messages

In the imessage days I made otherwise pointless AIM accounts for relatives so I could screenshare with them for tech support.
I have now upgraded one of them to Yosemite and I can't seem to connect to them with my messages app. I was hoping to get away from the AIM accounts and just connect from my apple id to theirs. But if I send them a text it just goes to their iphone.
Is it possible to connect to them Yosemite Messages to Yosemite Messages using only the apple id accounts or am I still stuck with using AIM accounts?

As you know the app can now have five accounts types.
AIM and Bonjour from the first iChat version, Jabber that was added at iChat 3 followed by Yahoo at iChat and then the iMessages account at Mountain Lion when the app changed it's name to become Messages.
By default Messages shows you two accounts, the iMessages one in which it ask you to use an Apple ID and the Bonjour one that is normally Disabled.
However since the first version of iChat Apple IDs issued by Apple (@mac.com then @me.com - later linked ones to iCloud only work and @icloud.com IDs themselves) work as AIM valid Screen Names as well (providing the Password is 16 characters or less)
From iChat the Bonjour, Jabber and AIM accounts you have inherit the iChat In-app abilities to Video Chat, Audio Only chat and Screen Share.
Yahoo has never done any of these.
iMessages has always invoked the FaceTime App to Video Chat (and later Audio Chat as the FaceTime app evolved).
In Yosemite the iMessages account can Screen Share but this also invokes and Outside app - the Screen Sharing app.
However to do this the System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing has to be enabled and set up to allow the Contact to connect.
NOTES.
In the Sharing pane Screen Sharing and Remote Management cannot be ON at the same time. (they both use the Apple Remote Desktop engine)
The App itself is in /System/Library/Core Services/Applications
It can be invoked in the Finder window connected to another mac Computer
See top right but under the Tool Bar.
It can also be done in Finder > Go Menu > Connect to Server and starting the item with VCN:// instead of the usual SMB (windows shares) or AFP (for Apple File Protocol) in the dialogue box.
This can be used over the Internet if you know th Pubic IP address and that the router is passing the info to the computer on the port required (5900)
The AIM and Jabber (or Bonjour) do NOT need the Screen Sharing to be On even though this also used the Apple Remote Desktop Engine.

Hello, i have this problem: after upgrading to yosemite my imac (27" 8gb intel i5) become very very slow in power off!!
Every other function are ok...only power off is very slow!!
I try to reinstall, to exit from iCloud, verify permission of disk and clean with application like ccleaner...but the problem remain!!
Anyone have my same problem? How can i fix this?

Homepage lost my settings after upgrade and I want them back.

I just upgraded to Firefox 4, the Mozilla Firefox Yahoo! Edition and most of my homepage content is lost. I had movies and a television guide and few other things that are just gone. Some things remained that I believe are AT&T/Yahoo defaults but I do not see a way to add content like I did before the upgrade. I also do not like the new toolbar and the home icon location. Used to be on the left and a specific color (red?) but now it's to the far right and almost black.

I've encountered the same problem; I (reluctantly) upgraded Firefox after years of happily using version 2, and discovered that I should have, apparently, saved my bookmarks before updating.
There is NO "places.sqlite" file anywhere on my hard drive.
Following the procedure at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks#Restoring_bookmark_backups restores the bookmarks folder saved *today*. . . after Firefox reverted to a *two year old file* and saved it over my existing one. (How do I know it's two years old? It has house search information from before my toddler's birth, that's how.)
There is no bookmarkbackups folder.
Searches across my hard drive for the following files turn up nothing useful:
* bookmarks.bak
* bookmarks.html
* bookmarks.html.moztmp
* bookmarks-(date).html
* bookmarks-(date).json
Oh, there *is* a bookmarks.html file that's larger than the 7/2 one that's been created; it is, however, from a transfer from IE bookmarks dated 2006.
None of the rest exit. Even searching for just the extension of .json turns up nothing.
I really, really want my bookmarks back, and I am not thrilled about this; I trusted Firefox not to screw up on an upgrade, and that's the only reason I didn't make a backup before installing. Silly me.

Mkv,avi vlc icon issue in Finder after upgrade Yosemite

After Yosemite upgrade I have a problem with vlc icon in Finder.
mkv file don't have vlc icon and show white icon:

I uninstalled and reinstalled vlc but I have not solved the problem......

I used to be able to use Quick Look to view MKV files, and then it stopped. I've been playing around with this the last few days, and now it works again.
I have Perian 1.2.3 already installed like yourself. On a hunch, I re-installed MPlayerX 1.0.17, and Quick Look worked again for MKV files. This seemed to work on my Mac Pro (10.6.8).
However, on my MacBook Pro (10.6.8), I don't have MPlayerX installed, but Quick Look works on MKV files anyway. I don't know what components Quick Look needs for MKVs, but you can try this method to see if it works for you.

After upgrading to APEX 4.1 the database management GUI has been removed

I've succesfully upgrated to APEX 4.1 on my database 10gXE
The only problem is that now the database management GUI (Usage Monitor section) has been removed from APEX and I'd like to keep on dealing with DBA activities as before. How is it possibile? Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?

Hello Mark,
unfortunately, that management GUI is an XE specific application build into the APEX version that shipped with XE. So basically, what you experience is correct: After an APEX upgrade, you can't use it anymore, because the "generic" APEX versions are not branded for XE.
There is a theoretic possibility of using the command line exporter to export that management application from the old APEX instance before upgrading (or using a different XE instance that still has it) and import it to the upgraded APEX instance. But I would not recommend to do that, as APEX itself has changed a lot from the 2.2-branch that XE 10.2 shipped with to the 4.1 you use now. This can cause severe issues when using that application in 4.1, especially concerning the APEX management part of that application.
Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?I'd recommend that. And I really think SQL Developer has become very handy for that purpose compared with the version that was out when XE 10.2 was released...

Mac Mail slow to sync after upgrade Yosemite 10.10.2 and OS X Server 4.0.3

We have deployed server OS X Server 4.0.3 and all client computer configured with DNS, Open Directory and Mail Server of OS X Server 4.0.3. It is quick to deliver mail before upgrade. And it is quick to deliver mail from iOS now. But it too slow to use Mac Mail. Even send to myself from intranet it costs 3 mins.

I have no solution but have experienced failing sync settings (quite often) in both 10.6 Server and 10.9 + Server 3 (upgraded from 10.6 Server) in the same way as you described, it syncs too much. We have given up on synched home folders and will cut them and use other backup methods since we’re not so dependant on switching between different devices. Our users usually have one computer, one iPhone, one iPad and stay with those until it’s time to exchange them.

Issues after Upgrade from Oracle 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.5 in Windows Server2003

I have run in to some issues after upgrading my 10.1.0.5 database to 10.2.0.5. Initially after the firtst upgrade from 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.0 one has to run Critical Patch set 4 to get to 10.2.0.5. Well after initial up grade everything worked fine. I could connect to the database from within the server as well as remotely through SQL*PLUS client. However, after completeing the patch I'm still able to connect to the database from within the server, but remotely i get the following error:
ORA-12514 : TNS Listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
I also get Error ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was: (description=(address=(host=mcquery2)(protocol=tcp)(port=1521))(connect_data=(sid=mcquery)(server=dedicated)))
I've tried serval different things to trouble shoot the issue but nothing seems to work.
If anyone has run into s similar issue please help. This is ruining my weekend! LOL!

Refreshing Database From Planning

Hello,
I have three datases in my Planning application.
I am going to perform a refresh from Planning to Essbase.
Is it possible to control which database is refreshed?
- If so, please tell me how. or point me to a resource I can use as a guide.
Or do I have to refresh all three every time I perform a refresh?

Why would the command allow me to specify a database if it is going to force a refresh of all databases in that application?

You need not specify any database name at /D. It is just to let planning know that you want to refresh database.
You have two options when you do a refresh.
1. database
2. security filters
/D specifies that you are gonna refresh database and by default it will update changes to all databases( nothing needs to be mentioned in specific). /F specify that you are gonna refresh filters. You can use both parameters as well.
I suggest you to look at the planningweb goto administration--->manage database. This will give you a clear picture of what a Refresh does.
