After upgrading to 3.1 - 3G Enable/Disable option gone!!!!!!

Hi all!
Wow - so much trouble for a software upgrade
I've upgraded my iPhone 3G (legal one - read: not jail broken or anything ) to 3.1 and now the switch which will enable/disable 3G network is gone ( I just don't get it ). I've tried to do a restore to a new phone: no luck, I've tried to downgrade to 3.0 ( iTunes 9 ) ... absolutely no luck whatsoever. This is just great. Now my iPhone will constantly flicker between "E" and "3G", and thereby consuming a lot of battery just switching between networks.
Anyone else with this issue?

I think I have a 'fix' for the issue. As it turns out, my local carrier "3" are somehow experiencing this on several iPhones at the moment starting this morning Sep. 10. So, I guess I'm not the only one. Which is nice.
So, it's a carrier problem, not a messed up update.

Go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and check Show Develop menu in menu bar. Then it's in the Develop menu.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call? You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

You could try playing with your options in the device section. I was not able to start X after upgrading catalyst to 8.12 but disabling the "TexturedXrender" option got it working again.

Address Book & Subscriptions after upgrade

Before upgrading I had 400 contacts in my address book. And was subscribed to someone else's address book that had 1,500 contacts. After upgrading the address book I subscribed to was gone and my address book now has 1900 contacts. I went into time machine but all my contacts pre upgrade are gone. Any ideas of how to get my old address book back with out having to go through and pick out the 1,500 contacts I don't want in my own address book?

So after spending 3 hours on the phone with apple care this morning I got the issue on my computer resolved - hopefully this will help you. Joe, the guy I was speaking with was a great help and stuck it out with me till we got it fixed.
The problem seems to be with mobile me and the sync services file. Here is what I did that hopefully will work for you:
1. Create a "Test" user account.
2. In that user account login to mobile me and sync your contacts. I had my 500 contacts download and the 1500 I was subscribed to.
3. Sign out of mobile me in the Test account. After I did this the extra 1500 users disappeared. You may need to quit and restart address book.
4. Now that I had my own 500 contacts, I went to "File > Export... > Address Book Archive". It creates an '.abbu' file on your desktop.
5. Move the .abbu file to your main user account.
6. Switch back over to your main user account.
7. Go to Mobile Me in system preferences and sign out (doing this in my main account did NOT remove the extra 1500 contacts)
8. I went to "File > Import..." and choose the .abbu file I just made with my good 500 contacts.
9. A dialogue window will you if your sure you want to replace all the info in address book - yes you do.
10. Quit and reopen address book and presto! my 500 contacts were back and the 1500 I subscribed to were gone.
11. Restart your computer for good measure and the re-enable mobile me syncing.
Joe said he was going to pass my case onto engineering, and they should address this issue further / post and knowledge base article about the problem.

Help after upgrade to iTunes 7.5

After upgrading to iTunes 7.5, my library is gone ... replaced with a blank library. The library files are where they are supposed to be, just empty. I searched my complete hard drive for a previous version of my library, but found nothing. I had copied all my music to my hard drive, so I didn't lose any music, just all my organization, artwork, playlists, etc. With 3,000 songs on there, it would take forever to re-build all that.
On my iPod, everything's fine. My question is, is there any way to copy all the organization, name changes, artwork, playlists, etc. from my iPod back into the blank library on my laptop?
If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Don't want to spend hours and hours putting all that stuff back together!!

Someone else may have a better fix, but see my posting under "Bush League Programming." Once I dumped 7.5 and reinstalled my previous version of iTunes, everything showed up just fine. Good luck.

As my iPhone 4 keyboard was very slow after upgrading to IOS 7, I used the option "Reset All Settings" as suggested in a forum. Now my iPhone 4 refuses to startup and I get the apple logo with a line underneath it for over 24 hours! Please help

Yes it did after a few plug/unplugs of USB. I gave in and tried to restore the iPhone and all seemed to go well for a while, however, after verifying the restore, the iPhone got switched off. When I switched it on, it went into restore mode again! Perhaps a very bad decision to upgrade to IOS 7. Will keep at it and try restoring again as I badly need for tomorrow and post out if I find anything worthwhile.

After upgrading Ver 8 catalog in Ver 12, Ver 12 just crashes

I have upgraded to Version 12 from Version 8. After upgrading the catalog via the "Manage Catalogs" option Version 12 just closes and the only way to get it going is to rename the catalog in the ProgData.folder.
I have also tried to move the Albums to a new Ver 12 catalog. I can copy the Albums and install them but there is nothing in each album. How can I fill each album with the photos that were there in Ver 8.

Thanks for your reply. I am using Photoshop Elements 8 and 12. I have been trying to get the catalog from 8 to 12. I have converted the catalog to ver 12 but it will not open. Surprisingly, it still opens in ver 8.
I have also tried just moving just the Albums. I saved all the Albums to a file then imported the albums into ver 12. However they remain empty and I cannot work out how get the data back into them.
We have updated to a new Toshiba i7 laptop running Win 8.1 and have updated all drivers. I tried the same conversion on the old (10 year) hp laptop and it worked fine. I could open the converted catalog with no problem. However it did not contain all the photos so it was not possible to just transfer the updated catalog from that PC.
All I want is an updated catalog with all previous albums intact. There are about 55,000 photos in the catalog.

Weak Wifi signal after upgrading Iphone to 4.1

I had a perfectly working Wifi home connection on a new iPhone 4 running 4.01 and 4.02.
After upgrading to 4.1 yesterday, the wifi has gone bad: the connection strength has dropped - at least- 10 fold. I have to stand next to the router to get connected. Before I had excellent connection at long distances.
Nothing has changed to the router, and I still have excellent wifi connectivity with my MacBook, iPad, and another iPhone.
Seems that the upgrade to 4.1 somehow broke the wifi connectivity.

I am experiencing hte same thing. Except I started with 4.1 and I am getting very weak signal compared to my buddies iPhone which is also running 4.1. Which is weird .. I guess I will call in tommorow any ideas ??

Had Lion 10.7.3 and spctl enabled, after upgrading to 10.7.4 i got this error message: 'error: invalid API object reference'

I had Lion 10.7.3 with spctl enabled, few days ago i had thru Software Updates > Upgrade to 10.7.4; i upgraded but this time when im trying to install an program i have the message that producer is not signed or software was from AppleStore so i tried to disable on Terminal, but i got this message:
'error: invalid API object reference'
i guess now i cant install anything because either i want to enable or disable the result is the same.

I have this same trouble with an IMac, was also 10.7.3 with spctl enabled, and after upgraded to 10.7.4, i cant install anything.
