After upgrading to APEX 4.1 the database management GUI has been removed

I've succesfully upgrated to APEX 4.1 on my database 10gXE
The only problem is that now the database management GUI (Usage Monitor section) has been removed from APEX and I'd like to keep on dealing with DBA activities as before. How is it possibile? Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?

Hello Mark,
unfortunately, that management GUI is an XE specific application build into the APEX version that shipped with XE. So basically, what you experience is correct: After an APEX upgrade, you can't use it anymore, because the "generic" APEX versions are not branded for XE.
There is a theoretic possibility of using the command line exporter to export that management application from the old APEX instance before upgrading (or using a different XE instance that still has it) and import it to the upgraded APEX instance. But I would not recommend to do that, as APEX itself has changed a lot from the 2.2-branch that XE 10.2 shipped with to the 4.1 you use now. This can cause severe issues when using that application in 4.1, especially concerning the APEX management part of that application.
Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?I'd recommend that. And I really think SQL Developer has become very handy for that purpose compared with the version that was out when XE 10.2 was released...

I see the same thing after upgrading to ios8 on my iphone 4S.
In my case, Mail is 76% of my activity. Disabling my mail accounts allows me to go back to my once a day charging routine. Otherwise, my battery runs down from 100% to 9% in 3.5 hours. I have two mail accounts. One exchange based the other is gmail.

I have the same issue. This is a single-purpose physical mailbox server with 320 users and 72GB of RAM. That should be plenty. I've checked and there are no manual settings for the database cache. There are no other problems with
the server, nothing reported in the logs, except for the aforementioned error (see below).
The server is sluggish. A reboot will clear up the problem temporarily. The only processes using any significant amount of memory are store.exe (using 53GB), regsvc (using 5) and W3 and Monitoringhost.exe using 1 GB each. Does anyone have
any ideas on this?

We had this event log entry as well which SCOM picked up on, and 10 seconds before it the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange updated all of its engines.
We are running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3 with no file system antivirus (the boxes are restricted and have UAC turned on as mitigations). We are running the servers primarily as Hub Transport servers with 16GB of RAM, but they do have the mailbox role installed
for the sole purpose of serving as our public folder servers.
So we theroized the STORE process was just grabbing a ton of RAM, and occasionally it was told to dump the memory so the other processes could grab some - thus generating the alert. Up until last night we thought nothing of it, but ~25 seconds after the
cache flush to paging file, we got the following alert:

drag file to desktop.
upload .m4a file to google drive.
create a link post in wordpress using "podcast" tag & create "podcast" category.
click on "entries rss" in wordpress, which takes me to the rss subscribe page (which is basically just my wordpress address with "/feed" at the end.
i copy this url.
go to itunes store > then "submit a podcast"
itunes gives me the error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
when i try to subscribe to my podcast in itunes, it does, but gives me no episodes available.
i went back into wordpress and changed settings/ reading settings to : "full text" from "summary"
still the same error message.
i added a feedburner step after wordpress but got the same errors. i don't think i should have to add feedburner.
wordpress seems to be encapsulating the rss, what am i doing wrong?
this so much easier when you could go directly from garage band to iweb to mobileme; i miss those apple days (also idisk).

We have 3 x EX2010 SP3 RU5 nodes in a cross-site DAG.
Multi-role servers with 18 GB RAM [increased from 16 GB in an attempt to clear this warning without success].
We run nightly backups on both nodes at the Primary Site.
Node 1 backup covers all mailbox databases [active & passive].
Node 2 backup covers the Public Folders database.
The backups for each database are timed so they do not overlap.
During each backup we get several of these event log warnings:

We've rescheduled the backups and the warning message occurences just move with the backup schedules.
We're not aware of perceived end-user performance degradation, overnight backups in this time zone coincide with the business day for mailbox users in SEA.
I raised a call with the Microsoft Enterprise Support folks, they had a look at BPA output and from their diagnostics tool. We have enough RAM and no major issues detected.
They suggested McAfee AV could be the root of our problems, but we have v8.8 with EX2010 exceptions configured.
Backup software is Asigra V12.2 with latest hotfixes.
We're trying to clear up these warnings as they're throwing SCOM alerts and making a mess of availability reporting.
Any suggestions please?

Having said all that, a colleague has suggested we just limit the amount of RAM available for the EX2010 DB cache
Then it won't have to start releasing RAM when the backup runs, and won't throw SCOM alerts

We seem to get this error through SCOM every couple of weeks. It doesn't correlate with the AV updates, so I'm not sure what's eating up the memory. The server has been patched to the latest roll up and service pack. The mailbox servers
have been provisioned sufficiently with more than enough memory. Currently they just slow down until the databases activate on another mailbox server.

Any ideas?

I've seen this with properly sized servers with very little Exchange load running. It could be a number of different things. Here are some items to check:
Confirm that the server hardware has the latest BIOS, drivers, firmware, etc
Confirm that the Windows OS is running the recommended hotfixes. Here is an older post that might still apply to you

Check that the network is properly configured for Exchange server. You might be surprise how the network config can cause perf & scom alerts.

Check that there are no hardware issues on the server (RAM, CPU, etc). You might need to run some vendor specific utilities/tools to validate.
Proper paging file configuration should be considered for Exchange servers. You can use the perfmon to see just how much paging is occurring.

If you do not have, or remember, the passcode for Restrictions, the only option available to you is to reset the device to factory settings via itunes.

Have you made a recovery media before this problem occured??? if you haven't you may need to call Lenovo and ask for a set of recovery disks, or just use your own XP/Vista OS you got from somewhere, and load it on your machine then enter you own serial number that come with your machine.
Then proceed to download the various softwares and drivers applicable to your machine, the most important that you won't have is the predesktop area, if you think this is unacceptable then call Lenovo and obtain recovery media from them (a nominal handling and service charge of around 50 USD will be charged).

The "play all" option has been removed from music on Genres, Albums or Artist

When I am in the mood for certain genres such as classical or R&B, I used to be able go straight to the genre and at the very top of all the songs in that genre I could choose "play all". However, since this last update, that option has disappeared. I tried using Siri by making requests like "play classical" but as we all know, Siri can be testy most times and it gets really frustrating.
Apple, please bring back this option, we all don't always just want to listen to playlists.

If I turn it off can I still sync new music that I buy and want on all devices?

Requirement: a multiline text should be displayed as entered on a html report page. 
My solution: 
- a onload page process of the form

- and a page template containing

This worked in HTML DB 2.0. 
 
My problem: After upgrade to Apex 2.2 the report doesn't display the carriage returns anymore. Instead of interpreted BR tags I get masked BR tags printed as text: 
 this is the first line this is the second line 
It's quite obvious that the substitution mechanism changed in Apex 2.2. Any ideas how to change my app ?

Popup LOV returns not found on this server after upgrading to APEX 3.2

The Popup Key LOV (Displays description, returns key value) does not work after upgrading to APEX 3.2 from APEX 3.0.
Don't now if the character set is relevant.
The database character set on APEX 3.0 was:

APEX 3.2:

When clicking on the popup the message is "The requested URL /pls/apex31mb/wwv_flow_utilities.gen_popup_list was not found on this server.".
This error applies for both Firefox and IE.

Can't reproduce the error on apex.oracle.com, the popup works fine.
The only difference I notice on the environments is the database version (our: 10g, oracle.apex.com: 11g), but I can't see this have any influence.

Integration of APEX in OBIEE 11g fails after upgrade to APEX 4.2.1

I used a document from the german APEX forum to integrate Oracle Business Intelligence 11g (OBIEE) with APEX.
After login in OBIEE a APEX page will be called without login in APEX.

The problem seems to be that in line "l_session_id := apex_custom_auth.get_session_id;" the call of apex_custom_auth.get_session_id is returning NULL in APEX 4.2.1.
In APEX 4.0 the call of apex_custom_auth.get_session_id returned the APEX session id.
What can I do to get this working again ?

Hi,
this integration relies on session fixation, that's an insecure practice which is not allowed anymore since 4.1:

Since the cookie value for the session id is missing, Apex rejects the session id and sets it to null, before calling the sentry function.
If you absolutely want to use this kind of integration, you will have to parse the value of owa_util.get_cgi_env('QUERY_STRING') in the sentry function to get the session id. To make it a bit more secure, the row in APEX_BIEE_SESSION should only be valid for a very short time (e.g. 1 sec). A person from Oracle Support contacted me about possible improvements to this authentication a few weeks ago. I replied with the following suggestions:
I would at least add a Y/N flag (e.g. SESSION_JOINED_BY_APEX) to the
APEX_BIEE_SESSION table. The page sentry should only accept the session
without an accompanying cookie if the flag is still N. It has to set it
to Y afterwards. This way, you ensure that the session joining without
cookie can only be done once. Maybe there should also be an alternative
way to log in to APEX, e.g. via page 101. Currently, this authentication
only accepts session IDs that were generated via OBIEE.
Users could log out of APEX or the APEX session could expire. Therefore,
the APEX app should have a post logout procedure that deletes the row in
the OBIEE session table. On the OBIEE side, APEX_SESSION_ID should
therefore be initialized on each request. The initialization code should
also check APEX_WORKSPACE_SESSIONS to make sure the session still
exists.

DB Home no longer available on XE after upgrade to apex 4.1.1

Hello,
I've installed XE 11R2 with Apex 4.0 included.
The upgrade to apex 4.1.1 succeded, the url (http://localhost:8080/apex/f?p=4550:1) is still the same.
But the DB Home (http://localhost:8080/apex/f?p=4950:1) is no longer available, an error displays :
Error ERR-1014 Application not found.
application=4950 workspace=10 It's seems the workspace and the db home application has been deleted. Does an other way to access the DB Home exist ?

Sorry, I've just found an other thread about this issue : After upgrading APEX to 4.1 the application 4950 is not working anymore
It appears that on XE, apex 4.0 can't be upgraded for now. This is annoying in my case because I need apex other languages, not included in the xe version...
Maybe can I use the standart apex folders ?

After upgrading to APEX 4.1 the database management GUI has been removed
