My hard drive failed and so was replaced, luckily everything was backed up on time machine.
I tried to do a full restore, and it went through the process but I couldn't see my files anywhere on the HD. I tried again and same thing. Eventually I used Migration Assistant and this worked fine.
However my hard drive is now full - all my previous restores went somewhere but I can't get at them.
Can anyone please help, I need to delete them from my system.
ThanksIs the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead? (The original source of your data) If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it. It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.

It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:

help, after upgrade my iphone to ios5.1,my phone is in screen lock with 'slide to setup' mode. after going thru the setup, it says to start using iphone. but clicking that brings me to the apple icon and then back to the same lock screen with slide to setup mode. i cannot use my phone. i tried shutdown but still no use. pls help....

Just received a replacement ipad2 and I'm having trouble syncing it with my pc. I started my iPad as new instead of using the restoring option, is there any way I can get my old apps, songs etc restored on my replacement iPad?
You've already set it up as new? Go into the settings and general and reset and reset everything. THen plug it back in and iTunes will, hopefully, see it as new again and you can choose the restore option.

I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.

1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

I suggest turning off locations services, wifi, turn on "Auto brightness", and under Diagnostics & Usage, tick "don't send". By doing this I have increase my battery life from less than one day, to almost two days now. It doesn't seem to be a huge secret that the more apps using locations services, or sending data every 15 minutes tends to use up the battery really fast. I don't care if someone posts on facebook, or twitter, I don't want anyone tracking my phone, I don't use iCloud. But I do text alot, I check email about every 4 hours or more, and I do rack up some time on the internet.

OS 6 Facetime not connecting after upgrade in UAE It was before on an Ipad purchased in Uk, I am miserable, I know its the carrier Etisalat, I sincerely some one finds a fix for this help.
I attempted to uninstall QT and reinstall- the QT 7.4 installer failed to install (it said a more up to date version was present, even though I'd trashed the old one). I downloaded and reinstalled 7.5 but itunes still did not work.
While my solution wasn't ideal
1) It was what Apple told me to do!
2) It seemed preferable to A) A complete system reinstall, B) removing 264 .plist files one at a time, rebooting, and seeing which one was causing the problem.
I still have the old .plist files in another folder, and can replace them in my preferences folder if I decide I need them. Most apps will create a new .plist file on start-up if there is not one present, so unless it is a program where I have gone to great lengths to change preferences from default, I'm guessing I will not notice much difference (and if I do, I can always go to my archive of .plists, or on Time Machine for that matter...) -
After upgrading to iOS 5, my iPhone 4 takes a very long time to open digitally signed emails. I've tried with the SMIME settings enabled, but that doesn't help either. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.
I suspect you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them by each sub-folders until you are able to nail down which sub-folder of photos, that causes the sync to stop or gives you errors.

If you use the iPhone as Apple recommends (so that you do NOT experience data loss), frequent backups are advised, as are synching contacts/calendars with an appropriate cloud service or computer-based contact manager like Outlook.

i cannot unbrick my 3GS after upgrading to iOS5.1.1 it is not giving me an option to factory reset. When i hook up with iTunes to unbrick it after 3-4 mion it says there is no SIM card please insert SIM and SIM card is inside phone which i was using before upgrading iOS. please help
thanksAssuming you're still using Telus, I'd say take it into their shop and get a fresh replacement SIM. If it wasn't hacked or jailbroken, that's the most likely explanation. I realize you've tried different ones, but it's worth a shot.
You might want to try putting it in DFU mode and restoring again as well. If those things don't work, it's probably time for a trip to the Apple Store to have it looked at. -
After upgrading to iOS5 - phone ear speaker is NOT working
Well, my excitement from upgrading to the new iOS5 on my iPhone 4 gave way to frustration when I found out that the phone's built-in ear speaker is no longer working. Tried everything from a hard reset, to re-syncing with iTunes, playing around with every setting I could find, and a few "fixes" I found online that were absolutely useless and did nothing.
This only appears to happen when making or receiving phone calls (and listening to voice mail) - when I select speaker, all audio plays normally, but clicking back over to headset, and nothing. Earbuds also work okay.
Prior to installing iOS5 this problem did not exist in the least.
Apple - I am going to ASSUME you properly beta tested this OS on ALL compatible devices prior to its release, did you not? Apparently (from my web searching) I am not the only person suffering this malfunction with their iPhone after upgrading to iOS5.
Is there anyone out there that has figured out a way to fix this, or am I just screwed? I don't know how to revert back to iOS 4.3.3 if that's even possible at this point. This is a phone I use for work, and I need to have this functioning properly.

I took my phone to the Apple Store in Sydney and they advised that the problem was related to my sim card & that I should contact my telco for a replacement. I seriously didn't believe the Apple rep when she said this, but politely said thanks, went home and tried it out by swapping my sim with my wife's.
Guess what... it didn't make the slightest difference.
My wife has an iPhone 4 still running IOS4 and the ear-piece works fine. I even put my sim card into her phone and it worked fine as well. So the issue is definitely not related to the sim card.
It sounds like a common issue affecting a lot of iPhone 4 users that have upgraded to IOS5. I'm surprised Apple hasn't acknowledged this and have a patch available to correct (it doesn't sound like a hardware issue).
Anyway, looks like a trip back to the Apple store for more great suggestions. -
