After upgrading to ios7: Safari crashes immeadiately & constantly

Problem: Safari and the apple email applications. Both open for a split second and then close (crash?) immeadiately after opening.
These apps still show up in the task manager, with a blank mini-screen, but selecting the app it just opens for a fraction of a second and then crashes.
I thought this might have to do with the fact that I selected larger and bold fonts in accessability, so I reset them back to the default.
I have closed the apps, and reset the iphone several times, and that does not help.
Clicking on a url in another app. that would normally open safari, also has the same symptoms,
Other web browsers from the app store do not have this problem.
I have a 64G iphone 4s.

after a number of resets/restores I FINALLY got to the bottomof the problem, at the original start up screen make sure your language & location settings match, eg British English language & UK..  Also in Mavericks go to preferences & set up your accounts pref pane !!! i never knew that was there ..once done everything then falls into place
I originally got english & europe in the first screens..... Also better to set up from new wirelessly rather than itunes, once done just plug into iTunes & tell it to set up a new iPad/iPhone
a lot of repeat settings in different place screwing up my setting up - all done , all working phew

  • Love my new ipad.  But after upgrading to ios7 Safari became dodgy.  Now it is frozen in a white screen and nothing will free it.  Everything else on the ipad works fine. I deleted data, history, cookies, etc.  Same problem.  No change after power down.

Everything worked fine on my new ipad.  After I upgraded to ios7 it still worked fine even if it looked very different.  But Safari started acting strangely (it is starting the same thing on my iPhone 4s, too).  Finally, it froze in state with no URL, no keyboard will come up, I can get Safari to close and start, but not actually function.  I went into settings and deleted all the cookies, data, history, and so forth.  Same state.  I powered down the iPad and restarted.  Same state.  I tried a trick were I held down the button to bring up the power down stripe and then holding down the home button.  Same state.
What can I do?  Can I delete Safari and re-install it somehow?  Should I take it to an Apple store?

If powering down with hard reset (press and hold two buttons Power and home) will not give positive results follow that article

  • News feeds stop at a certain point in fb after upgrading to ios7!

News feeds stop after an hour or two of news in fb after upgrading to ios7 on an iPad 2!  Just get a little gray dot at the bottom of the feed shows up and nothing loads after that point.

I've honestly found the best way to access facebook on the iPad is through safari. The app is buggy at best.

  • After upgrading to IOS7 my Ipad turns automatically the screen to vertical in some programmes. You cannot get to turn back. How to solve it, I like to keep it horizontal at all times

After upgrading to IOS7 the Ipad turns the screen automatically from horizontal to vertical when using some applications (i.e. Twitter or Safari). If you shake it it will just stay vertical. How to change that to horizontal. I do not ant to turn the screen al the time.

I have found the solution. With the little buton on the side of the IPAD you can change so it stays horizontal or vertical.

  • Not able to activate iMessage after upgrading to iOS7

    Hi,
I am not able to activate my iMessage using my apple ID after upgrading to iOS7. It gives me a message saying "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I have already tried resetting my network connection and connecting to my internet. Safari is working just fine so I know that the phone is connected to my network.
I will appreciate your help in this matter.
    Yours truly - E.

    This is what worked:
    1) Backing up the iPhone to iCloud
    2) Resetting the iPhone completely
    3) Restoring from iCloud
This helped resolve iMessage and Facetime issues.
    Thank you for your help.
    - E.

  • Iphone4 randomly chrashes and bootes after upgrade to ios7.1

    Hello,
after upgrading from ios7.0 to ios7.1 my Iphone 4 chrashes and then bootes. Sometimes it does not happen during the whole day. Then again it crashes 5- 10 times a day.
I tried a few strategies, incl complete reset. Even loaded Ios7.1 with 2 different PCs. No success. It seems also to happen quite randomly, at least I couild not identify any logic behind it. Very frustrating experience.
Does anyone have the same experience? Any idea what to do?
    Thanks / Thomas

As Texas Mac Man wrote in another post, the problem was fixed by repeated shut down of the iPad till GC started to work properly.

  • After upgrading to iOS7 music App doesn't work

    Hi,
My first post on this communities thread & all I see is the same questions being answered?  Is there no moderator to quench the questons?
My music app is doing exaclty the same after the IOS7 update, tad reluctant posting this as i'm sure there wont be an answer, just other frustrated folks like myself that will have to take time out to visit their genius bar, costing me time from work.

  • Ipohone 4 hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7.1 ?

my ipohone 4 hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7.1 but my some friends having iphone 4s its works fine and those having iphone 4 it's not working although we all have same operator and same operating system (i.e ios 7.1).I think this is problem only  with iphone 4 users with ios 7.1 , so apple plz fix it in ur next update.

    You don't like the answer?
Again it's not a bug, use a supported carrier if you want Personal Hotspot.
Read the list one more time, if carrier is not on the list, IOS7.1 patch the loophole.

  • Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7. I've clicked on a folder 5 minutes ago and am still waiting. The work-around seems to be to force-close it, but I've needed to do this many times in the last few days.

Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7.
I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.
    Thanks

  • After upgrading to iOS7, I can no longer send or receive texts that aren't iMessages.

As the title indicates: After upgrading to iOS7, I can no longer send or receive texts that aren't iMessages.
The text conversations are still there; you can see that I used to be able to text anyone. But now I cannot.
I have followed several different fixes suggested in these forums, I have Restored my phone, I have Reset Network Settings, I have Reset All Settings, I have checked settings on several friend's phones. But I still cannot send or receive texts that are not iMessage texts.
This seems like a pretty big deal. People text more than they call. And I now have a phone that cannot text very many people.
It is so frustrating. I have spent so much time trying to get it to work.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
I don't know if this is a corrupted preference file or not, but it sure can't hurt to try this.
If Mail is open, Quit Mail.
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Drag that .plist file to the Desktop. Launch Mail and see if you can send or receive e-mail. If you can, that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new preference file for you the next time you launch Mail.
Also... run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, click Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

  • Problems after upgrading to IOS7 on IPad

Can't login to imessages or facetime after upgrade to IOS7 everything else seems to work but IMessages and Facetime won't accept password

I didn't have to log In again. It was already set up just like it was before I updated to iOS 7. Did you turn Messages and FaceTime off before you updated?

  • HT201365 After upgrading to IOS7, my keyboard (Greek) is no longer visible for me to sign in with a password.  Anyone have a solution?

AFter upgrading to IOS7 on my son's IPOD 5, he is no longer to log in with his passcode.  He had gone to General/Settings/ keyboard/greek and created an encrypted passcode. Now with the upgrade that keyboard is gone and the IPOD won't take a code.  How do we fixt this?

Due to a recent move,  my Time Capsule doesn't seem to have the range & strength that it once did.
It must have the same strength it always had. .but the new environment blocks or absorbs wifi.. some houses are like a black hole.. nothing gets out.
    - It seems to me, that in "Bridge Mode" my Time Capsule doesn't have the range & strength that it once did. For whatever the reason, I need to increase my Wireless range.
Being in bridge or being in router mode makes no difference whatsoever to wireless output.. however range is affected dramatically by environment and perhaps by operating next to a much higher wireless power device in the Mediacom router.
How do I extend my Wireless range?
If I give you useful sites.. apple mods will delete my posts.. so you should google yourself for "extend lan"
That is, unless I can use what is already wired into my home.  For example, I'm told there is a CAT 5 Access point (whatever that is) very near the vicinity of where I need wireless access.
This is the best method.. you do not need another TC.. plug the existing one into the Cat5 access point on the wall.. plug the other end into any LAN Port on the Mediacom router.. and as long as the cable is in good condition it will work great.
Make sure you are doing the setup correctly.
    You bridge the TC.
You also create a wireless network.. it can be the same name as the mediacom router or different .. that is up to you. You do not attempt to extend the wireless.. this is most important.
Try it now.. all you need is a patch cord or two.

  • HT4623 Fingerprint scan not working after upgrade to IOS7.1?

After upgraded to IOS7.1 yesterday, noticed all my finger print unlock failed to work.
Deleted all existing prints with intend to re-register again, however it seems that the home butoon cannot detect when I placed my finger at all, tried many times and still the same.... no living with my 5S without finger print unlock...
    Anyone encounter the same?

Many users seems to be experiencing the same: worked great under iOS 7.0X, now just not scanning. Some 'kinda' fixes: make sure your finger is cold or, plug in the phone to the charger or computer, or place your phone in the fridge for half an hour or so. All the others of rescanning / resetting your iPhone seem to offer no improvement.
Not exactly what we have come to expect from Apple!
Other users who have experienced the same issue are saying Apple will swop out your 5s for a new one (indicating this is a hardware issue that is exacerbated under the 7.1 changes to the scanning software). That sounds great in the US or Europe; however, it remains to be confirmed the same will apply in South Africa...

  • Personal hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7

Personal hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7

I was having this problem (iphone 5 wouldn't work as hotspot for my PC laptop) and had tried everything suggested on these message boards, so I finally went to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed it for me.  Here's what they did:
    1) Turned the Hotspot off on my iphone
    2) Went to the Control Panel on my laptop to "Network and Internet" > "Network and Sharing Center" > "Manage Wireless Networks" (on the left navigation panel) and deleted my iphone from the list of WiFi connections I've attempted.
    3) Flipped the manual WiFi switch on my laptop to Off and then back On again (to reset it)
    4) Turned the Hotspot on my iphone back on
After that, when I tried to connect, it worked.  Hope this works for someone else.
