Sometimes just closing and reopening the Help window will clear up the problem. If it doesn't, log out or restart the computer and try again. Otherwise, you may need to delete the Help cache.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpd
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the selected folder to the Trash. Log out, log back in, and test. Help pages will be slow to load at first.
If that doesn't work, the problem may be caused by network conditions. It may go away by itself, though I can't say how long you should wait.
A persistent failure to load help data has been reported as an issue with satellite networks. Test on a different network, if possible. I've also seen at least one report that Photo Stream in iCloud can mysteriously interfere with Help. I'm not sure whether that's true, but try disabling Photo Stream, if applicable.*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

(HELP!)After upgrading to Mavericks, windows xp is not working

I have upgraded to Mavericks. But now I can't get into windows xp.
what I usually do is hold on to "option" to get into XP.
instead have" MAC" " Windows" I have a third disck called " recover 10.9"
I then choose to open via Windows. It then ask me to go to safety mode or normal mode to start up.
It doesn't matter which one I chose, It will go to normally Windows openning screen and then quickly turn in to blue screen. Before I have the change to see what it says, it will go straight to restart.
How can I go back to Windows? without converting Mavericks back to my original mac version?
If the only way is to go back to my old version.
My time machine says that I don't have enough space in mac disc to do restore? if I delet everything I have in Mavericks, will it give me enough space? I have back up in time machine so it should be ok if I delet all my photos and musics.
and the most imprtant thing is will it make XP working again?

I have same problem with the camera after upgrading my iphone 4 to ios 5. I can open the photoapp and focus but the app closes after the shutter goes black. I have tried reinstaling ios 5, but I still have the same problem. And I cant open the photoalbum eigther.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see Sony camcorder in iMovie anymore. It still works on MacBook, so nothing wrong with camera or connections.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see my Sony camcorder anymore. I tried the new iMovie as well as the old version 9.0.9, which is still in Applications. I checked the camcorder and connections in iMovie on my MacBook (not upgraded) and that still functions properly, so the problem does not seem to be in iMovie, old or new, or in camcorder and connection.
Anybody with the same problem or a solution?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

After doing last Mavericks update, Messages is not working properly

Since yesterday, after doing last Mavericks update, Messages is not working properly - the Dock icon is not bouncing nor showing any number for new messages. Very annoying, since I usually have Messages on background while working and I now i don't realize if people is chatting me unless I open the messages wondows.

Check System Preferences > Notification is set for Messages
In Messages > Preferences > General Section change the Sound option for Message Received.
Restart the app and test this sound is (still) playing.
Place app in background an iMessages "yourself" form your iPhone.
Does the sound Play ?

After upgrade to Maverick, Canon printer is not responding.

Hi,
     I've Macbook Air connected to office network through Wifi. My Office printer such as Canon IR C4080 and Ricoh Africo SP C242DN are not responding after Maverick upgraded. I tried to install new driver but still not working. Do you have any idea to solve this problem. Now I can only direct printing via browser.

Not sure if any one is still following this thread, but I am having the same problem with a Canon iR c2550 on one of our macs. It just pauses and will not print. We only have the ufr driver capability. Here is my printer info:

Back up all data.
In the iCloud preference pane, uncheck the box marked Calendars & Reminders if it's checked. You may get an alert that one or more calendars will be deleted from your computer. Confirm. The calendars won't be deleted from iCloud. Leave the preference pane open.
Quit Reminders if it's running, and also quit Calendar or iCal.

I upgraded iPhoto after upgrading to maverick. It will not open.

Does anyone know what to do to get iPhoto's to owrk after upgrading?

Not unless you give us some information. What happens? What error message do you? What version did you have? Do you have version 9.5 now?

I want to create a form using form 6i which read a text file from client side and insert data into table i try text_io function but its not working after deployed form on server and also try webutil function but its not working with oracle forms 6i kindly help how can i do this while using forms 6i i will be very thankful.

Acrobat 9.0: Trying to use the in-software help, I get only a basic introductory web page. No real contents or searchable help.
Is this normal, or is it broken. How to fix it? ("repair acrobat" from the help menu did not fix it.)

I have been having this same issue with Acrobat X on our network and we are getting ready to roll it out to 2000 users.
I contacted Adobe Support but they weren't really of any help so I sent a bug report yesterday. By the time I came to work today, I had a response from them. Here is the information they provided:

This is a know limitation with Acrobat X behind an authenticating proxy. Although the documents references are for CS5 they apply to Acrobat X as well since they use the same technology for Help. Here are some things to try:
Issue
Error "Online Help content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet" when accessing help in Acrobat X.
Solution
Make the help contents available off-line. See KB http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84992.html
Access online help directly in a browsers at: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/index.html
Note the 'en_US' part of the link takes you to the English help file. Replace this with a different locale to go to that language version of the help. For example, to go to the French version of the help replace en_US with fr-FR like this: http://help.adobe.com/fr_FR/acrobat/pro/using/index.html

Additional information
Acrobat X uses a new help client to display the Help contents. If this client is prevented from checking online it will give the error: "Online Help content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet."
One reason the Help client is blocked from going online is when a (authenticating) proxy is used. Currently the help client is not compatible with such a proxy.
After reading the information provided, I searched for the Help Client and it wasn't on my computer. I downloaded and installed "Adobe Community Help Client" from the link below. Apparently, the Help Client is part of the installation for the CS5 Suite of products but not part of just Adobe Reader X or Acrobat X installations.

After installing the Help Client, I opened it and changed the preferences to open Help in the browser instead of the Help client. It takes a while to download the file to a local cache and then it opens in IE.
