After upgrading to Mavericks, iTunes keeps asking to sync podcasts

I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and signed into my mac with my Apple ID. Now, when I play podcasts through iTunes, every time I load iTunes, or click away from podcasts in iTunes and then back, it continually gives me this prompt:
You are signed in with a different Apple ID than previously used with Podcasts. Do you want to sync these podcasts subscriptions and stations with “[my Apple ID]”?
It doesn’t matter if I click “Sync” or “Don’t Sync”, it does nothing and then keeps bringing this alert up. I also believe I WAS signed in with the same Apple ID in iTunes before I upgraded.
Any ideas on how to have iTunes stop asking me this?

Ok, for some reason these posts didn't come up when I googled it, but the suggested posts on the side of this page ("More Like This") were helpful. I personally wound up deleting all my subscriptions, and turning off podcast syncing in the Preferences… > Store and then I turned it back on.
See: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25817278#25817278
I believe it's possible that I didn't need to delete my subscriptions, but that's what I did because I read someone suggested to do it. You might just be able to turn off the podcast syncing preference and then turn it back on.

  • (Mavericks) iTunes keeps crashing on sync "This iPhone is already syncing apps with "%1$S"

I updated my MacBook Air to Mavericks yesterday.  When attempting to sync my iPad2 and iPhone4 this morning, iTunes keeps crashing on me.
There seems to be some issues with what it thinks my computer name or my Apple ID is.  It keeps referring to them as %1$S
Check out this screenshot on the device Summary page of iTunes, It may be hard to make out the text since the image was resized upon uploading it:
The the top circled item reads "This iPhone is already syncing apps with "%1$S"
The second circled item is the incorrectly sized Check for updates button
The thrid circled item (left) are my Apple ID name and computer name, both referred to as %1$S
The fourth circled item (right) is the text "Do you want to allow this computer to access information on "%1$S".
Is anyone else having these issues after upgrading to Mavericks?  Any resolution?

Nevermind, found that there is also an update that Itunes needed this morning to be compatible with Mavericks.  After updating all is fine.
Not sure why iTunes update required for Mavericks was not included in Mavericks, but whatever.  Hope this helps anyone else who had this issue.

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper (v 2.8). Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.

  • After upgrade to mavericks: time machine keeps asking for my back up disk and won't open unless i plug in the disk. any solutions?

after upgrade to mavericks: time machine keeps asking for my back up disk and won't open unless i plug in the disk. any solutions?
before the upgrade, i could open time machine without the need for having the back up disk plugged in.

Ok. I got it to work, sort of....
As I mentioned before I tried the "disk password" and the "Time capsule Password" options to see if I can start the back up again or start a new backup. Neither worked. So I tried the firmware down grade, but like you said that did not work. I then decided to try the "Account password" option and I have never used this option before becasue it states that if there is data on the drive it would not be acessable after creating an account. Since I wiped out the disk that was nno problem. When I created the new account and choose the drive it asked for the user name and password. I entered the info for the new account I just created(FYI this has nothing to do with your login username and password), bingo! It worked!
Now I have two partitions on the TC disk. The old one and now the new account. I am guessing this is to be used if I have multiple computers, which I don't.
I any case, I am going to wipe out everything again and try again to do a backup the way I had it before.

Well where is your library located now if not in the iTunes folder?  See the links below on what your iTunes folder should look like and put it back together:

  • ITunes music not playing in iPhoto slideshow after upgrading to Maverick....Why?

iTunes music not playing in iPhoto slideshow after upgrading to Maverick....Why?

Yes, the tracks were purchased in the iTunes store. I'm sure that DRM is the culprit. Seems like an obvious answer now that I think about it.
    Thanks for the help.

  • After upgrading to Maverick, I can no longer access iTunes Store.

    Hi,
After upgrading to Maverick, I can no longer access to iTunes stores. The layout for Mac AppStore also doesn't display properly. Perhaps the most annoying part is when I need to access secure website (even google.com), where I need to authorize the certificate. My current connection is behind proxy, but have no issues on all this issues before upgrading to Maverick. Please assist.

    Hello segordon21,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To move voice memos to your computer please follow the steps from the iOS 8 Help below.
    Move recordings to your computer
You can sync voice memos with the iTunes library on your computer, then listen to them on your computer or sync them with another iPhone or iPod touch.
When you delete a synced voice memo from iTunes, it stays on the device where it was recorded, but is deleted from any other iPhone or iPod touch you synced. If you delete a synced voice memo on iPhone, it’s copied back to iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes, but you can’t sync that copy back to iTunes a second time.
Sync voice memos with iTunes. Connect iPhone to your computer, then in iTunes select iPhone. Select Music at the top of the screen (between Apps and Movies), select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,” and click Apply.
Voice memos synced from iPhone to your computer appear in the Music list and in the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. Voice memos synced from your computer appear in the Voice Memos app on iPhone, but not in the Music app.
    Move recordings to your computer
    Take care,
    Alex H.

    Hi bodeboni!
You will probably want to download the newest version of iTunes (iTunes 11.1) directly from Apple and install it on your computer if you are having issues updating. The link for the download can be found here:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

  • My macbook pro is running really slow after upgrade to Mavericks

my macbook pro is running really slow after upgrading to Mavericks....any ideas?

OS X Mavericks: If your Mac runs slowly
The above link is not very useful, so if it doesn't help read on.
There are many potential reasons that a Mac may be running slower than expected, but more information is required to begin troubleshooting, much more.
Back up your documents and everything else important to you before proceeding. It is premature to conclude your hard disk is failing, but the symptoms you describe may presage an impending disk failure, and you should have backups anyway.
To help determine the possible causes of this behaviour read the following. None of what follows is intended to fix anything, but it will provide the additional information required to advance troubleshooting:
Boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red.
When it finishes restart your Mac and test again for operation. If it's still not behaving as you expect it should, please post the results of EtreCheck in accordance with the following instructions:
Apple Support Communities contributor etresoft wrote a very useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem. Go to his website, download and run EtreCheck:
    http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
Etrecheck will be in your Downloads folder. Open it from there. You may see the following dialog box:
Click Open - etresoft contributes to this forum frequently and can be considered a trustworthy developer.
It will take a moment to run as it collects its data.
Copy and paste its output in a reply.
Do not be concerned about anything that says "Problem" or “failed” or anything else that may appear in red.
EtreCheck was designed to remove any personal information (such as your computer's name and serial numbers) but if you see anything that looks like an email address or any other personal information that should not be divulged to others, please delete or obscure that information when you post the reply.
When you are finished with EtreCheck, quit the program. It occupies very little space, and you can keep it or drag it to the Trash as you wish.
After completing the above please determine if the problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.
System performance problems for reasons that cannot be isolated to any other cause justify an SMC reset. Be sure to read the procedure carefully and follow all the steps exactly as written, even if they seem inapplicable or trivial.

  • Why did my mouse stop scrolling after upgrading to mavericks?

I have completely lost all ability to scroll with my Apple Magic Mouse after upgrading to Mavericks.   Why did this happen?   How can it be fixed?    It worked fine with Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion.

    Everyone:
I was able to solve my own problem, after scouring the Internet looking for solutions.  Sadly, the Apple Support Community was of no help.
    Here's the full story:
I originally had purchased my iMac with Snow Leopard installed.   I loved it just the way it was, and really did not ever want to upgrade.  However, I've been around computers long enough to know that I would HAVE to do it someday, only because of the age old problem of wanting to run some new application in the future, but not being able to, becasue the app would only run on the latest version of OS X.  I reluctantly upgraded to Mountain Lion less than a year ago, without too many problems -- nothing I wasn't able to fix fairly easily anyway.  When Mavericks came out, with the "offer I could not refuse" price of FREE, I knew I would eventually have to install it.
So the day comes when I'm finally ready to install Mavericks.  To get ready for that day, I did the following:
I ran CCleaner on Mountain Lion to clear out any old files accumulated.  (No longer works in Mavericks)
Made sure my Time Machine backup was up to date
Cleared out gigbytes of old files off my hard drive, and archived them on an external USB drive
Made sure every single app on my iMac was fully upgraded.
Made sure Mountain Lion itself was fully upgraded!
I then set aside a full day for the upgrade, knowing full well how long it could take, even with a very fast internet connection.  Eventually I worked up the courage to go to the App Store, and proceded to download Mavericks.
The update seemed to go smoothly enough, no problems that I noticed.  So I finally get to the point where I can sign on to my iMac again, opened up the Chrome browser, and found out that my mouse was was unable to scroll.  I then opened up Firefox and Safari, and found that I could not scroll pages on those browsers either. As a matter of fact, I couldn't scroll using my mouse no matter what app I tried.  That feature was completely lost.
I went to ' System Preferences --> Mouse ' to look at the settings, and only the most basic settings were available: click and speed, nothing at all for scrolling or swiping.   That's not good....
Looking to see if anything else was missing in System Preferences, I saw that there was no option for Blue Tooth at all.  As a matter of fact, Blue Tooth was completely inoperative, and there was literally nothing I could do to make it work.  The Mavericks upgrade had completely trashed Blue Tooth on my iMac.  I have no idea how my wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse were even operational, Apple must have some sort of "back door" that keeps those two connected even when the entire Blue Tooth subsystem is off-line.
Since there was absolutely no way to fix this, given the damage done by the Mavericks upgrade, my only choice was to do a complete re-install of Mavericks.  I did this by turning off my iMac, and then after turning it back on, I held down the command + R keys to initiate the "recovery" of my iMac, and re-installed Mavericks. There are screens the are displayed that walk you through the process, which is fairly easy and strait-forward.
This above process is a feature called OS X Recovery, and it has been present since Lion.  Here's a link to an article that explains it more fully:
OS X: About OS X Recovery
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
I did not know about this feature, but found out about it after doing various web searches in an effort to find a solution to my problem.
So, I basically ended up installing Mavericks a second time.  This took hours to accomplish, but it worked.   After the second installation, I signed on, and sure enough, Blue Tooth was back in operation, and my Magic Mouse worked without any problems what so ever.  I had full scrolling ability in all my apps.
So OS X Recovery saved the day, at least for me.
I should note that before doing the Mavericks upgrade on my iMac, I had already performed the upgrade on a family member's MacBook, without any problems encountered at all.   They were still running Snow Leopard, the orignal OS that came with their MacBook!  Like me they were reluctant to upgrade, but eventually it becomes a necessary evil.
Here's hoping that this information may be of use to someone in the future.

  • Why does the migration wizard run every time I start up my mac after upgrading to mavericks ?

After upgrading to Mavericks, I log in as normal but then a migration wizard starts up asking me where I want to import data from and create new accounts. Why and how do I stop it ?

It could be part of OS X's Resume feature. Any app that is open at shutdown will re-open on boot unless the tick in the following image is deselected when shutting down/restarting:
Also check that Migration Assistant isn't listed in System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items.

  • Why am I getting fonts issues after upgrading to Mavericks?

After upgrading to Mavericks, many webpages display fonts as dingbats like characters (see attached screenshot).
Copy/pasting the URL into a new tab seems to fix the problem sometimes, but not always.
The issues seems to happen more in chrome, but also in safari.
I've checked issues in fontbook and emptied the font cache, but nothing seems to work.

    Hi!
An screenshot would be helpful. In any case, you are already asking a question, so if you please. Answer here and we can try to help you.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks, iPhoto does not work

I have an iMac early 2011, with dual hard drives. After upgrading to Mavericks, iPhoto and several other apps are no longer "installed". The following apps have a white circle with a line through it in my main Applications folder on my primary hard drive: Calculator, Chess, Font Book, iChat, iPhoto, Mail, Photo Booth, Preview, Safari, System Prefernces. Also, under the Utilities folder, these are inaccessible: Activity Monitor, System Information, Disk Utility.
    I tried following this thread's advice: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5539268
I had iPhoto 9.3.2 on my main drive. I downloaded the 9.4.3 upgrade from here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#consumersoftware
When I try to install, I get the following message: iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update. Where did my software disappear to?
Every Apple upgrade so far has been a nightmare. A previous upgrade of iPhoto bricked the computer and had to bring it to professionals to fix. I am dreading the 10.9.2 "critical upgrade" for the OS that keeps poping up. The Mavericks upgrade also wiped out my Adobe Creative Suite install and several other apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need iPhoto ver 9.5.1 to be Maverick compatable.
Use the software update, look for the new app in your Applications folder along side your old versions of iPhoto. Drag the new icon down to the Dock.
Moving from 10.6.8 the old PowerPC apps are no longer supported. I believe Lion you could still run  the Rosetta to keep the old ppc apps alive. No more with Mountain Lion and now Mavericks. Sooner or later you have to keep up with technology and keep apps up to date.

  • After upgrading to mavericks, i cannot open mac app store, preview, calendar, etc

Why i cannot open mac app store, preview, calendar, software update, etc after upgrading to mavericks? How can i fix this? please help me

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
