After upgrading to ML copy disc fails
I upgraded to ML yesterday and now I am unable to copy a disc. Roxio Toast 11 will read the DVD-RW on which I taped a football game but when I go to copy it onto a regular DVD, I get a Mac OS error code of 1634955892.
In the morning prior to upgrading I was able to do this just fine but after the upgrade I can't. I can burn an audio CD just fine but it won't let me copy.
Can any one help me with this?

In my case and others, installing Mountain Lion scrambled the settings for the Incoming Mail Server and the Outgoing Mail Server for EACH account and so I had to manually re-enter those settings.
You may need to open "Mail">click on the word "Mail" in the upper left hand corner of your screen in the menu bar> click on Preferences>click on "Accounts"> enter your "Incoming Mail Server" and "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" settings that are provided by your ISP.

Promise duplication process fails after upgrading BIOS (KT6 Delta bios 5.7)
After upgrading the bios for my KT6 Delta from 5.0 to 5.7 the controller fails to duplicate the discs in my mirror set.
After copying 1% if will fail and report that there is something wrong with the target disc. I have used the diagnostic tool provided by Maxtor, but there does not seem to be anything wrong.
Questions:
1) is the duplication process autonomous, i.e. wil incorrect bios settings affect the duplication process
2) Since BIOS 5.0 an update of the Promise BIOS is included. Because of CRC I can assume that any BIOS downloaded from MSI will be correctly flashed. Even after CMOS clear the problem still occurs. Does anyone experience the same problem?
3) How will I create a mirror set and duplicate a working disc to the other bypassing the mirror option in de Promise BIOS?
Thanks in advance for any help..I have been using Promise RAID controllers since the FastTrak66. I used to select mainboards based on this controller because I am used to it.
So the solution to the problem will not be based on mistakes in using it ;-)
Either the drive is defective (which special software did not proofed to be), or the BIOS is somehow incorrect, or there might be some settings outside the controller affecting it. -
after upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues. my computer now freezes and programs close randomly. The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
After a few weeks the HDD failed. I bought a new disk, installed it and trued to install Leopard, but the install fails reporting "insufficient memory".
I assume the installation requires more memory than the OS actually needs to be able to run.
I need Tiger install CD/DVD so I can install Tiger first and then upgrade to Leopard.Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
You need much more RAM than that.

the error in your logs like "NoClassDefFoundError" etc. point us towards issues with jar files. either they are missing or not the correct ones.
A general practice in such situation is to
stop all servers except CMS,IFRS,OFRS > repair the base installation
OR
If you have a working environment with the exact same patch, copy the 'lib' folder from "/bobje/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/java/" to the non-working server.

After an upgrade from BPC 7.0 (for NW) to BPC 7.5, the process chain Z_IMPORT_MASTER_DATA_LOAD fails. This is a standard process chain and we have used it to import Employee-masterdata from BW to BPC. This has been working perfectly fine for a long time, but after the upgrade it fails with the error message: u201CJob or process BPCMALDNW, waiting for event RSPROCESS D5PUFX4O5T78XRI7YVDC1LGBL is unknownu201D. Does anyone know what is causing this problem? Can the process chain not be used in BPC 7.0 and do we have to use the process chain /CPMB/IMPORT_MASTER instead?

If you need to upgrade SQL 2005 dtsx packages to SQL 2008, customized packages must be created in SQL 2008 BIDS(Business Intelligence Development Studio). The steps are the same with SQL 2005. To do this, you should copy BPC Task DLLs for SQL 2008 to Tasks folder under SQL 2008 BIDS installation folder
If you use packages provided from ApShell, you can copy packages from ApShell instead created in SQL 2008 BIDS after upgrading to SQL 2008.
*Note: you should modify package as your application structure such as dimension when you copy package from an application to others and, between the applications, the structure are different.

DVD drive failed after upgrade to 10.4.9
After upgrading to OS X 10.4.9 I noticed that my internal DVD drive (SuperDrive Pioneer DVR-104) failed.
I did the delta upgrade and immediately checked the most common "error" of misbehaving eject key. The key did not function at all, even after pressing it for minutes.
Later I found out that the complete drive failed.
System Profiler tells me (sorry german output)

Do you have any hints besides replacing the drive?
Maybe it's just a coincidence. I did not use the drive for 2 weeks before
the upgrade.

Attempting to copy to the disc failed
My itunes library will not sync completely to my ipod. It will sync 70 percent and then the error message "attempting to copy to the disc failed" It seems to sync randomly with no rhyme or reason. I have tried the 5 R's several times.
I can not say this will solve the problem for everyone - but I tried many of these suggestions and found one myself.
My backup utility was causing the problem - not sure why - but after I installed the current release of Arconis it cause every ipod I have to fail.
I have four - and none of them would sync. I removed the backup SW and all is working.
Guess I will have to find another way to backup critical files. -
Unit test fails after upgrading to Kodo 4.0.0 from 4.0.0-EA4
I have a group of 6 unit tests failing after upgrading to the new Kodo
4.0.0 (with BEA) from Kodo-4.0.0-EA4 (with Solarmetric). I'm getting
exceptions like the one at the bottom of this email. It seems to be an
interaction with the PostgreSQL driver, though I can't be sure. I
haven't changed my JDO configuration or the related classes in months
since I've been focusing on using the objects that have already been
defined. The .jdo, .jdoquery, and .java code are below the exception,
just in case there's something wrong in there. Does anyone have advice
as to how I might debug this?

I found an oracle note with the next solution:
Add -Xverify:none to the JVM Arguments in the WebLogic console if you're using Node Manager to start managed servers:
1. Go into WebLogic Console
2. Navigate to Environment> Servers> [Sever_name]> Server Start> Arguments
3. Add -Xverify:none to the arguments
4. Restart the WebLogic server
5. Retest the issue.
6. Migrate the solution as appropriate to other environments.
Or
If you're not using Node Manager to start managed servers:
Edit the WebLogic start-up script to add -Xverify:none to the JVM arguments

Call failed constantly after upgrade to OS 4.2
Has anyone else suffering the same problem? My iPhone 4 just keeps failing to make a call after upgrading to OS 4.2. The strange thing is that it seems this just happens within vodafone's 2G network. If I turn 3G on, there is no problem with call failed. However, I normally turn 3G off for getting longer battery life. Is it a problem with the phone? or it is the network problem? Has anyone got the idea?
I am having similar problems connecting calls and having calls drop since upgrading to 4.2.1. Been on to Vodafone to sort but they don't seem to be having issues. From searching online, seems to be an issue after the last upgrade. Not sure what to do next. Happens on 2G and 3G for me

Vpn fails after upgrade to 10.8.5
After upgrading from SL to Mountain Lion the Apple vpn client connections fail. They were connecting fine before the upgrade. They also work fine from other computers (Windows) on my network to the same addresses, so the remote side is functioning, and there have been no changes on the remote side.
The error message is "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator." The Console messages indicate the server does in fact respond, but there is a problem with Phase 1 IKE. Message lines are pasted here with the IP addresses masked (the addresses are correct though).

About the configuration -- the apple client is using preshared key with ppp user/password auth. The user/password and psk all work in other clients, have re-entered them many times, have deleted then recreated the connection in Network Preferences. Have restarted the racoon service, and even rebooted several times.
Googled around and found a number of reports of similar problem after upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion, haven't found anything that works so far. Have disabled my antivirus, have rebooted network router, have changed access control in Keychain Access to allow access from all applications. Can't change the remote side configuration because of other users, need to find a way to solve this on my client side. I do have backups that would allow me to roll back to Snow Leopard, but does anyone have any other solution, would like to have a better alternative. Appreciate any/all suggestions, thanks.Thanks again, good point. I wasn't doing this on first few tries but eventually realized I needed to clean up Keychain Access because of all the duplicates I created (orphans) so yes I did delete connection and corresponding keychains then recreate then change access. Along the way I noticed that every time I later applied a change to an existing connection setting I had to return to Keychain Access and change the access control settings again, they revert back to 'confirm' from 'all access' at each change. So even if it worked for me I realize it isn't a permanent fix.
And iCloud is 'inactive', so I guess Back to My Mac is disabled too, I don't know that app but assume so since it needs iCloud. Is there a better way to be sure it can't interfere? I do think I'm getting some phase 1 traffic out and back to the remote server evidenced by the console log, so seems the ports are not being blocked. -

I used a document from the german APEX forum to integrate Oracle Business Intelligence 11g (OBIEE) with APEX.
After login in OBIEE a APEX page will be called without login in APEX.

The problem seems to be that in line "l_session_id := apex_custom_auth.get_session_id;" the call of apex_custom_auth.get_session_id is returning NULL in APEX 4.2.1.
In APEX 4.0 the call of apex_custom_auth.get_session_id returned the APEX session id.
What can I do to get this working again ?

this integration relies on session fixation, that's an insecure practice which is not allowed anymore since 4.1:

Since the cookie value for the session id is missing, Apex rejects the session id and sets it to null, before calling the sentry function.
If you absolutely want to use this kind of integration, you will have to parse the value of owa_util.get_cgi_env('QUERY_STRING') in the sentry function to get the session id. To make it a bit more secure, the row in APEX_BIEE_SESSION should only be valid for a very short time (e.g. 1 sec). A person from Oracle Support contacted me about possible improvements to this authentication a few weeks ago. I replied with the following suggestions:
I would at least add a Y/N flag (e.g. SESSION_JOINED_BY_APEX) to the
APEX_BIEE_SESSION table. The page sentry should only accept the session
without an accompanying cookie if the flag is still N. It has to set it
to Y afterwards. This way, you ensure that the session joining without
cookie can only be done once. Maybe there should also be an alternative
way to log in to APEX, e.g. via page 101. Currently, this authentication
only accepts session IDs that were generated via OBIEE.
Users could log out of APEX or the APEX session could expire. Therefore,
the APEX app should have a post logout procedure that deletes the row in
the OBIEE session table. On the OBIEE side, APEX_SESSION_ID should
therefore be initialized on each request. The initialization code should
also check APEX_WORKSPACE_SESSIONS to make sure the session still
exists.
