After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, Time Capsule is not recognized

After I upgraded my Mac to OS X Mavericks 10.9, Time Machine stopped backing up to my Airport Time Capsule and now the Mac no longer recongizes the TC device. It is a TC model # A1254, 500GB.  Any suggestions for being able to re-connect / re-set-up the TC with Time Macine? Thank you.

Well, it turns out the Time Machine backing up to the Time Capsule (TC) worked only temporaily.  Now, it is not backing up to the TC.  The Airport utility has a pop-up box which states "Device Not Found  Time Capsule was previously part of your network. Check that it is still in range of your network and is plugged into a power outlet. Forgetting this device removes it from this network."   It is in the same room as the Mac and is plugged in and powered up.
When I click on "Other Wi-Fi Devices" in the upper left of the Airport Utility, it states "No new Wi-Fi devices discovered" and "No remote Airport Base Stations discovered."
Now, I am confused, too.

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks Time machine stops backing up and sometimes hangs on ,,preparing,, for o days and sometimes stops inmediatly. Report says:
    Backing up to /dev/disk1s2: /Volumes/Backup/Backups.backupdb
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh HD
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[__NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 0 beyond bounds for empty array'

Is this a Firewire or Thunderbolt connected disk?  There are know issues with that in Mavericks.  If so try connecting the drive by USB as you continue.
Is it a WD drive?  There appear to be issues with those drive on Mavericks.

  • After upgrade to OS X Yosemite my ringtones are not recognized on my i phone 5s

after upgrading to latest OS X Yosemite my ringtone makers new tones will not transfer to the tones files although they show up in the ringtone documents on my macBook air

Thank you for your quick response.  My iPhoto is at version 9.6.  I fire up iPhoto, it crawls and crawls and never loads and then get the message that my app is using all the memory, close all apps and try again.  I killed all the other apps but still get memory is running out of space with 0% available message. I have 8 GB of memory and is rather odd that it would use all of it, after the upgrade to Yosemite.

  • Time capsule drive not recognized

I have installed my Time Capsule using Airport.
    The internet connection works fine.
But unfortunately the capsule doesn't recognize the hard disk (or another drive connected via USB on the capsule).
The drives were available in earlier cases, but not always!.
    Hope you can help,
    Peter

The drives were available in earlier cases, but not always!.
Sorry but this is difficult to follow.. in what cases were the drives available.. ?? When were they not available?
The USB drive must be FAT32 or HFS+ formatted.. and it must be GUID partitioned but that seems less of an issue. It is very possible you need a powered hub, as the TC does have port issues.. and it has nothing to do with the powered drive.. it still needs a powered hub.. and just to be fun.. not all powered hubs work. There is a limited number of drivers in the TC.. the powered hub that works on a Mac does not necessarily work on the TC.

  • Time Capsule does not appear in AirPort Utility after Yosemite upgrade

Just upgraded to Yosemite and the Time Capsule appears as a shared device in Finder, but does not appear in AirPort Utility.  Any solution to this so I can manage my Time Capsule again?

I'm having the same problem. Did you reset your Time Capsule to factory settings or simply restart it?

  • After upgrading to OS X Mavericks syslogd needs lot of memory and cpu, system is very slow

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks the system is very slow. securityd and syslogd are using 50% of cpu and memory is also used by syslogd and kerneltask (8 GB out of 12). After rebooting the system it runs very well, a view days later (without reboot, only hibernating) the situation is the same.
Looks like a problem in OS X. Any solutions?

I haven't worked out the LDAP messages but I noticed at other times I was seeing lots of album art messages from BlackBerry desktop. I'd already uninstalled the app but it still had processes running. I followed this link to remove completely; http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/57023/how-to-uninstall-completely-black berry-device-manager
CPU levels have been noticeably lower ever since.

  • My Dock icons looks garbled after upgrading to OS X Maverick.

My Dock icons looks garbled after upgrading to OS X Maverick. Not all but most of them look like scattered dots instead of the icons, tried restarting multiple times still no use.
I installed OS X Maverick last week and for a week it looked fine. I have restarted the OS for copule of times after upgrade. Now the Icons in the dock seem to be garbled.

The dock preferences may be corrupted ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash
    Restart your Mac.

  • I upgraded the software on my Time Capsule and outgoing mail stopped on my Mac Air

    Hi
I upgraded the software on my Time Capsule and outgoing mail stopped on my Mac Air
My colleagues are using my Time Capsule on their Mac Air (with Lion OS System) and Dell with MS OS System.
I am on OS X 10.6.8 and was sucessfully using SMTP for outgoing mail .... after my update for the Time Capsule, Mail on my Mac Air stopped
    Why?
    Thanks in advance
    Jan

    Hi Garmulewicz,
Can you tell us a little bit about the SMTP service? What port is it set to use? Authentication SMTP? Have you tried manually sending over Port 25, 587 or 465? If you bypass the Time Capsule can you confirm that SMTP traffic still works behind the same modem?
I've personally never seen an update break SMTP, that would imply that the update somehow is blocking the port where SMTP is occurring. What if you configure a personal GMail account or something else, does that work?

  • How do I upgrade my iPhoto library on Time Capsule?

I am using a 20-inch iMac from mid 2007, iOS 10.10.1, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB and I have my entire iPhoto library located my Time Capsule (which is connected to my computer via ethernet cable).  Since upgrading to Yosemite I upgraded (and subsequently re-installed) the newest version of iPhoto. The small iPhoto library on my computer upgraded just fine and works very well, but the large iPhoto library located on my Time Capsule will not upgrade. When I attempt to open the library located on the Time Capsule, a window appears saying, "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." I click "upgrade." Then a small window appears that says, "examining photo library."  The program freezes at this point, and within just a few minutes, iPhoto closes out entirely.  I have attempted this multiple times over the past two months with no success.  I moved iPhoto to the trash and reinstalled it, as some had recommended, but to no avail.  I don't know which version of iPhoto I previously had.  Any thoughts from all you very intelligent people out there?

I have my entire iPhoto library located my Time Capsule (which is connected to my computer via ethernet cable).
An iPhoto Library cannot be on a Networked location.
    See this article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168
    Note the comment:
“Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss.”

  • I recently upgraded my OS to Lion 10.7.4.  I also just upgraded from a 1st Generation Time Capsule to a 4th Generation Time Capsule.  I have an Airport Express (Version A1264) that I formerly used to extend my wireless network.  AE no longer works.

I recently upgraded my OS to Lion 10.7.4.  I also just upgraded from a 1st Generation Time Capsule to a 4th Generation Time Capsule.  I have an Airport Express (Version A1264) that I formerly used to extend my wireless network.  Airport Express no longer connects to my network.  I have downloaded Airport Utility 5.6 to try and configure, but with no luck.

TC first gen was not simultaneous dual band. So.. it's probably best to factory reset your extreme and then tell it to extend again.

I just upgraded from my 2008 MacBook to a new Macbook Pro. How do I get my time capsule to work on my new MacBook? I did data migration, but the time capsule did not pick it up. Any ideas?

If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.
Look at B5 and B6 here about connecting to your backup.

  • Since installation of Mavericks, Time Capsule works very slowly, and the next backup of 236 GM will take nearly 30 days. What can I do to get backup more rapidly ?

Since the installation of Mavericks, Time capsule works very slowly and will need 30 days or more to produce a complete backup of about 200 GB. What can I do to get a complete backup more rapidly ?

What setup is the TC now.. ? what model and what firmware? Maverick seems to need 7.6.4 on the older TC.. and latest firmware on the AC version.
Is it in router or bridge mode? Do not use wireless only.. join a wireless network.
Is the computer connected by wireless or ethernet? I strongly recommend a test by ethernet.. with wireless in the computer turned off. If it is still very slow something is majorly wrong.. but I need the info I asked for to troubleshoot further.

  • My mail messages are blank after upgrading to OS X Mavericks. How do I fix this??

My mail messages are blank after upgrading to OS X Mavericks. How do I fix this??

Hi, I had this same problem. I have a load of work subfolders and was showing the message header but no content. I think it lost the link to the original messages.
There may be a simpler way but I fixed it by going to the mail folders in finder. I took the following steps:
Go to user library (hold down the alt key whilst clicking the Go menu in finder to access user library)
Go to user/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes. You should be able to see your mailboxes and your original messages (ending .emlx) after clicking down the hierachy in each mailbox. For some reason mail added a "-2" onto the end of each mailbox which I think has caused the problem.
Copy each required mailbox (.mbox) onto desktop. I removed the "-2" at this stage to clean things up.
    In Mail, choose File/Import Mailboxes....
Import data from: Apple Mail. Click continue, navigate to desktop and choose the relevant .mbox folders. Click Choose.
It should then import the mail to a new folder called import in mail. You can then rename that folder or move the subfolders out.
I moved the .mbox folders on my desktop to my documents folder as a backup just in case. I then deleted the problem mailboxes from the finders mailboxes folder.
Problem solved - for me anyway!!
    Hope this helps.
