After using Firefox/Android for a while, it just shows a black screen.

Asus TF701 tablet (with keyboard dock)
After navigating through several sites, Ffox-Android (v.34) displays only a black screen. When I look at the tab thumbnails, however, the sites seem to be rendered. But each time I select a thumbnail. the tab's full display is blacked out.
Help!

Hi ChuckSott
Some questions to help us help you!
# Which websites are causing this problem? A few examples would be grand!
# Does this problem occur in FF35 for Android?
# If you could post a screenshot of the tab's full display being blacked out that would be super helpful
# Have you tried temporarily uninstalling all the add-ons in Tools -> Add-ons? Sometimes add-ons break Firefox!
# Finally what version of Android OS are you using? (ice cream sandwich 4.0, jellybean 4.1-4.3, kitkat 4.4? etc)

So, you're totally new to computers?
Go to the Help menu in Photoshop and select the System Info menu item.  Copy all that information and paste all of it here MINUS your serial number.
Yes, Photoshop can delegate a lot of the computing tasks to the GPU on your graphics card.  You may have to disable that feature in Photoshop Preferences > Performance.

  • Mac Users: How can I watch YouTube again on Firefox, when for months all I get is a black screen and no controls?

Beyond frustrated here. I can watch YouTube on Safari (I have a MacBook Pro laptop, OS 10.6.8), but I use Firefox, for everything else, so really need YouTube access on Firefox. I have googled the problem a zillion times and find solutions that do not work.
Today in several places, including here at Firefox, the instruction is to uncheck the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" box which is found when you right-click (two-finger click on my trackpad) on the black YouTube screen. Then click on Settings, which brings up a display box. In the display box I'm supposed to be able to uncheck the hardware acceleration. And I see it there in front of me.
But it's dead to my trackpad! The Enable Hardware Acceleration will not uncheck when I click on its tiny box. It's supposed to be active, but nothing I do in that display box works--even the close button. I've refreshed the page, tried clicking the icons on it, nothing works.
Can you imagine no YouTube for months? It's driving me crazy. PLEASE help, I will be so grateful!
    Thanks~~

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • TS1424 A movie I bought (not rented) on Itunes stopped working after not watching it for over a year.  Now it just shows a black screen.

A few years ago I bought GI Joe The Rise of Cobra on Itunes (not rented, bought).  Now, after not watching it for at least a year, when I try to play it all I get is a black screen.  How can I fix this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Since Firefox updated, it wont open. Just flicks a black screen with some text on it. Wont connect to websites through skype or email either. Please help?

I have tried uninstalling FF but it won't let me do that either. I would be extremely grateful for some support please. I would be happy to just be able to link to a website via my email. I'm using google chrome in the meantime and just cut and paste links that way. Have a lovely day

    Hi firefoxjules,
Have you looked at the [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox]] or [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]] Knowledge Base articles? There is a lot of good troubleshooting information in there.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • My instant watch for netflixs is not working on my macbook pro. I just shows a black screen. I know that the problem is not Silverlight, so what other type of software or upgrades am I missing?

Go figure both Apple support and Netflixs support "have never seen a problem quite like mine" the same day my free trial has ended. And no the, problem is not with my Netflixs account because they charged my debit card just fine. I'm trying to play instant movies on my netflixs account and every time I click on a movie or show it just shows up a black screen with no play controls. According to Netflixs I'm either missing a peice of software or I need to uninstall and reinstall a program or plug-in or something. At first they thought it was Microsoft Silverlight, but I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling that several times and nothing has changed, plus since I had no play controls as well the problem is definetly not Silverlight. So I was wondering what other types of software or plug-ins are needed to play Netflixs movies or if anyones else has had the same issue and knew how to fix it. And I know that it is a problem with my Macbook Pro, because my netflixs accout still works on my sister's computers. I've tried restarting my computer, restarting Firefox, signing out and back in on Netflixs, praying to God, clearing my cookies and chache, saying nice things to my laptop, yelling at my laptop, and pretty much everything under the sun. Nothing I do is fixing it. Please someone help me figure this out.

MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

  • Getting slower by the minute, after reboot speeds up for a while...

I've read a coouple of similar posts, about the macbook getting very slow, but I seem to have almost tried all the solution suggestions.... I've used CleanmyMac hundreds of times, I've rebooted on the installation disk and tried the "disk utility": repair disk thing. I've downloaded ONYX and tried that. I've gotten rid of just about everything ecxept for the absolute minimum (Which tends to make the compter a lot less fun). I have hardly no songs on the actual macbook or images, or video files.... I checked out how much space was being used on the individual folders and found that the mobile applications and the library were using by far the most memory space, so I've cut that down manually to the minimum.
But still, after used the mac for a while it takes like 4 minutes for it to erase a simple text file, or to move one file to another folder, so I have to restart the whole system and then i speeds up again for a while.... but what could the problem be??? I have at least 20% of memory space empty at all times, if not 40%, but it no better..... any ideas??????
    thanx fraggles

    Hi,
I would first create another user to see if it behaves the same way and test to see if it's something with the computer, or if it's user specific.

  • Firefox OS 1.3 simulator doesn't work.(runs but shows a black screen)

I am learning app development for firefox os.I installed a simulator for version 1.3 at my work place and it was working fine.I could write simple web app and run on the simulator. But when i installed the emulator on my home pc It was installed successfully but then was showing just a black screen.I am sure i have installed the correct version.I am using firefox 30.The simulator does show up in the app manager but when i start ,it just show a black screen.I don't understand why this is happening.I tried installing other versions like 1.4,but same thing happens for all the simulator addons.what could be the problem?

    Hi prathamesh_13,
Thank you for your question. There should not be a black screen, and is sounds like you have already reinstalled the simulator on the second computer.
If the simulator does not show up on the app manager it may not have been properly installed.
    Can you enable verbose logging:
You can see messages logged from your app in the Web Console, which you can attach to your app using the App Manager. If you want to catch early messages happening during app startup, before the console gets connected and working, you can enable verbose logging in the Simulator.
Visit about:config and create a new preference. The preference name is different for each version of the Simulator:
[email protected] for Firefox OS 1.3
[email protected] for Firefox OS 1.2
Set it to the string value "all", and disable, then reenable, the add-on in the Add-on Manager. Now extra messages about the Simulator's operation will appear in the Browser Console.

I bought a used PowerMacPC G5. I can burn and read DVDs, but I can't read or burn CDs. The CDs are not even recognized. After the drive searches for a while, the CD is ejected without any error messages. The CDs work okay on my iMac.
I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11. According to the System profiler the CD/DVD drive is a "PioneerDVD-RWDVR-112D." When I compare the information under this heading, the only unusual difference from my iMac is that the G5 reads "Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)." My iMac reads "Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)."
Under the System Preferences the options are set to "Ask what to do" when a blank CD or DVD is inserted. Music CD set to open iTunes, Picture CD set to open iPhoto, Video DVD set to open DVD player.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Jack

  • After using Firefox 4.0.1 for 2 weeks, still can't find solutions to these questions...

After using Firefox 4.0.1 on Win7 x64 for almost two weeks, I still have the
following questions/problems, for which I just can't find the solutions. Please help.
    (1)
Is there a way to change the shape of the tabs to resemble real tabs, sort of like those tabs shown in the picture attached with the first reply I posted below.
    (2)
I notice that when there are more than 6 tabs, only the current tab has a close button.
Can there be a close button on every tab, no matter how many tabs are on the tab strip?
    (3)
When you drag a file ( .html, .jpg, etc) from Windows Desktop or Windows Explorer and then drop it into Firefox, the file will be opened in the current tab.
Can it be opened in a new tab?
    (4)
Is there a convenient way to select multiple images on the same web page and open them all, each one in a new tab, with just one simple action, e.g., a toolbar button click, a keyboard shortcut, a mouse gesture, etc. ?
    (5)
[ I asked this question a few days ago, but still got no answer. ]
After the currently active tab is closed, I want the previously active tab to be displayed automatically, no matter what its position is on the tab strip, and no matter if it has any kind of relation with the closed tab. Just previously active.
    Can that be achieved?
    (6)
Although "Use small icons" in "Customize Toolbar" is not selected, I still feel the icons on the Bookmarks Toolbar are too small. Can the size of those Boookmarks Toolbar icons be increased (scaled up)?
Just the Bookmarks Toolbar icons. The other toolbars don't matter.

  • BSOD after using firefox for a minute.

Not sure what happened exactly but here's the details.
Basically I run using my on board Gigabit lan when at home on my desktop, however my girlfriends router is not on same level as her computer so wireless is necessary. I purchased a D-Link 160 dual band usb adapter to connect at her place. I installed the drivers then plugged in the adapter as instructed. Everything was fine at her house. When I got home I went back to my Gigabit hardware again. My computer ran fine IE10 worked fine but for some reason after using Firefox for about a minute it would crash my computer BSOD. Facebook, Google, trying to research issue so basically any website caused the problem. So I thought it could have been the D-Link drivers but I rolled my system back to before the D-Link install and still had the issues. I re installed my Firefox and so far all is well. So perhaps it was an update or perhaps it was drivers interfering. The date it started happening is July 5th. So depending when last update was could have been that.
    As for Specs
    Windows Pro x64
    Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0
    Kingston Hyper X genisus 16GB
    AMD FX-8320
    2x 500GB Seagate Barracuda Raid 0
    Asus GTX 650 Ti Boost
Thats most parts that could remotely be causing the issue. Let me know if you solve anything if its just me the D-Link or an update would just like to know what went wrong. As I said re installing Firefox worked so perhaps drivers changed settings or something but i think system roll back should have fixed that I am not a pro though so any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Windows 7 64bit will not shut down after using firefox, Why???

After using Firefox the only way I can shut down is to kill the power, normal shut down does not work. When I use internet explorer I have no problem, unless I have used Firefox during the session.

The idea of a 3rd party unrelated app didn't seem reasonable, but in Windows, I brought up the the Windows Task Manager (similar to MacBook Activity Monitor) and started "ENDING" the tasks that seemed to be unrelated to the system but used for certain applications.
When I stopped a task related to my Linksys Music Bridge (I was using Airlink-101 music bridge tools to access the bridge) this allowed iTunes to start and stop without automatically restarting.
On XP, the task was "CMFLYWAV" not sure why it's called that, but I now use Bluetooth to send audio to my HiFi using a Logitech Speaker Adapter that works great, and doesn't cause problems for iTunes.
There are probably other unessential tasks running on those machine that still have this "won't shut down" problem.
Thanks for the hint, but I was heading down that road as the next step, assuming something else was forcing iTunes to stay active. But I would not have expected it to be a network speaker driver as it was in my case.
