After using Lookout Web client, always iexplorer.exe collapses ?

I've read the document with ID:25LCF1J6 that speaks of this same error, and the solution consists of updating the version of Lookout Player. In my case I use the last version of software (5.0).

What OS are you using. I have seen this happen with IE 4 or 5 because it is not run in a separate memory space. Microsoft has an incident on this. I have also seen this happen due to a permission mismatch between the use and administrator rights.

  • How To Stop Lookout Web Client Crashing IE Web Browser

    Hi,
    I am using Web Client with Lookout. My problem is I can only load a panel within Internet Explorer once. If I reload the URL within the same session then Internet Explorer crashes.
    Can anyone offer me advice to fix this problem please?
    Software is as follows:
    - Lookout V 6.0 (build 5)
    - Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0.28
    - Web Server: Tomcat 5.5.7
    The steps I took are as follows:
    1. Created Process
    2. Set up File-> Web Server Options->Export Directory to:
    c:\telemetrysms\webapps\root\user\fishfarmlive\
    (where “c:\telemetrysms\webapps” is Tomcat webapps folder)
    Set up server URL to:
    http://HOSTNAME/user/fishfarmlive/
    (where “HOSTNAME” is the server name)
    3. Export Web Server Files
    4. Start IE and open web page. My panel displays correctly (with live data), although the only alarm Lookout displays is “The remote position source is not writable”.
    5. HOWEVER, when I reload the page in IE the browser will always go blank for several seconds and then crash (with no error message).
    Furthermore…
    As a test I created a simple test process with nothing but one panel containing a single line of static text. This simple project also crashes.
    This computer also has Lookout 5.1 installed. And projects created in 5.1 only crash the browser very occasionally.
    Any suggestions (about the crashes or the missing alarms) would be greatly appreciated?
    Thanks.
    Regards Brett Sheeran

    Brett,
    I have some info for you regarding the web client. I am including links to two documents that have information that will help you with your problem. The first document is good info about developing a web client application and the second has information directly pertaining to the IE crash that is occurring. It also has other troubleshooting information. I would also recommend checking the firewall on the computer. It windows security settings also have to be set to low in order for web client to communicate correctly.

    Hello
    I have a rather annoying problem connecting to an XE instance AFTER I have disconnected from a VPN via a Cisco AnyConnect VPN Agent.
    Sequence of operations:
    - start Oracle XE and work normally
    - connect to client's vpn
    - do other stuff
    - DISCONNECT from Client's VPN
    -> unable to connect to XE service any more, unless I reboot
    The problem does not happen with other vpn clients like Cisco VPN Service, Juniper, Checkpoint.

  • Dedicated Client leaves iexplore.exe running after shutdown / Windows 7 IE8

    Hi All,
    Recently I have noticed an annoying behaviour of the Siebel Dedicated/Developer Client on Windows 7 with IE8.
    Everytime it is being shut down, it leaves the iexplore.exe running. This is especially annoying when developing on Win7 because everytime you compile some changes to your SRF, a new instance of iexplore.exe will be started, while the old one is not killed. So after 2-3 hours of development I have like 30 iexplore.exe processes running and finally Siebel starts to do strange things (compiled changes are not reflected in the client, old objects are shown etc)
    I know there is already a CR on MOS: 1226854.1 but I was wondering whether someone has found a way to stop this? I assume there could be some registry parameter or IE setting to make it behave like before?

     Not sure where to look now.
    That's normal.  The 64-bit process is called a "chrome task" and the 32-bit processes are called "tab tasks".  You can use  WMIC  to check them:
    wmic.exe  Process  where  Name="iexplore.exe"  Get  CommandLine, ProcessId
    you will notice that they are correlated by  SCODEF:  being equal to the chrome task's PID.

  • Communicate with servlet after using Java Web Start?

    Is it possible to communicate with servlet to get data back and forth
    after using Web Start to download the client application?
    The demos come with Java Web Start are applications which are
    standalone, don't need communicate with the servlet on Web server
    after being launched. I am wondering if it is possible, and how (HTTP
    & JAX-RPC)?
    Thanx in advance.

    I've done this using HTTP. I get the server and port from the codebase:
    BasicService bs = null;
    try {
    bs = (BasicService)ServiceManager.lookup("javax.jnlp.BasicService");
    String codeBase = bs.getCodeBase().toString();
    and use the java.net.HttpURLConnection and java.net.URL classes to send HTTP parameter values to the servlet and to receive results from the HttpURLConnection's input stream.

  • Determine the chosen profile after entering IC Web client

    There are a number of CRMPROFILE FM's but none seem to return the profile that I'm after. In short I'm trying to identify the profile chosen by the user (or defaulted) after they log into the IC Web client.
    I would be happy to find an FM, method, or any other way of determining this. I've just started debugging the BSP code to determine the method used but it's slow going. Someone save my sanity, Pleeeaase.
    Gary

    hi gary,
    you can use the following code to get the profile in which the agent is logged into.
    For  CRM 2007:
      data: lr_ui_profile type ref to if_crm_ui_profile,
            lv_profile type string.
    *get business role.
      clear: lv_profile.
      lr_ui_profile = cl_crm_ui_profile=>get_instance( ).
      lv_profile = lr_ui_profile->get_profile( ).
    In CRM 5.0:
      DATA:lr_ic_profile type ref to if_ic_profile,
                lv_profile type string.
      lr_ic_profile = cl_ic_profile_service=>get_instance( ).
      lv_profile = lr_ic_profile->GET_PROFILE( ).

  • Lookout Web Client security

    I have seen the topic about security issues with Labview. So how secure is the web client in Lookout? I am not displaying the toolbar in the web client app, is it possible for someone to gain a high enough security level to start changing parameters or anything else?

    Carl,
    There's a way to force the remote client to download the lookout.ini file, hence the default login setting to lookout player, I don't know if it works in lookout 5(it seems to work in lookout 4.5). Look at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/2d17d611efb58b22862567a9006ffe76/1c39c87fd53373eb86256a400056cfdb?OpenDocument
    Anyway, I could think three ways to overcome this issue.
    First, web server security. Restrain access to the html through web server authentification.
    Second, make two types of clients(in two different URL's). One for your lan, other for WAN with no action allowed (i.e. shut down your water plant).
    Third, use password protected buttons. See http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.DISPLAY_EPD4?p_g

  • Hypertrend on Lookout Web Client V6.6

    Hi there,
    I've reviewed several previous posts regarding people having issues with displaying hypertrend data via the web client.  I understood that this issue had been corrected in the later version of 6.X, however when running a trace via a web client I receive the following error:
    Failed to Open trace "\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\WSESServer\HANNG\PLC_HANNG.ANLG_Level_Dosing".  The trace may not exist, or it's not logging to a Citadel 5 database"
    Any ideas here?  Please note this works fine on the machine with the server process.
    -andrew

    Any resolution on this?
    I am having the same problem, "the trace may not exist, or it's not logging to a Citadel database"
    The trace it's referring to, is located on another subnet.
    We have multiple servers running lookout 6.6, one local to me (also two machines running clients) and another server located some miles away, there is data exchanged between the two. I verified connectivity with a continuous ping while Lookout was loading.
    I don't see this same error on the other machine right next to it. The difference is, the one giving the error is running the free client and the one not giving the error is the development version of lookout.
    Thanks

  • Forced upgrade after using icloud web interface

    I used the icloud interface in order to access a Pages document and print a PDF version while I was at the library. When I returned home I wasn't able to open the document and was instead told I needed to upgrade to the new version of Pages for $20. There was no warning of this on the icloud site, and I want access to the file returned - or a free "upgrade". I'll happily take a reversion to the unaltered version of the document, which I never edited on icloud anyway.

    To tell Apple something, you need to post it at
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
    To regain access to the file, open it in iCloud and email it to yourself as a Word doc.  Then you should be able to open it on your Mac again.

  • External Meetings using Lync Web App vs Lync 2013 Desktop client

    We have LYNC Server 2013 deployed on premise. Our clients are LYNC 2013. When someone external to our organization sends us a Lync meeting request we are able to connect with our Lync 2012 desktop client but only Audio is available. We cannot share
    the desktop. If however we connect to the external meeting using the Lync Web App (by specifying
    ?sl=1 at the end of the meeting url) we are able to use all the services like audio, desktop sharing etc.
    I've found the following articles that suggest that the desktop clients are not the preferred choice to connect to external meetings.

    http://www.computer-talk.com/en/blog/item/attendees-cannot-join-your-lync-web-conference
    Can anyone advise as to why the desktop clients are restrictive and if there is a fix and if not how can we force users to use the Lync Web App to connect to external meetings?
    Our lync 2013 desktop clients use the following ports:

    You should be fine using the full Lync client, it's not restricted by default.  If there's an issue, it's typically in the networking related to your edge, or the edge of the organization you're federating with.
    The reason the web client is preferred by many (not all, and that's not an official Microsoft stance), is simply that if everyone uses the web client, it's a consistent experience for the attendees and you don't have to worry about the status of attendee's Lync
    environment or federation.
    Can your external users share a desktop with internal users?  Can they do it externally in a conference hosted by you?  Can the remote organization share desktops with you when connected to your conferences?  And in these conferences,
    have the marked you as presenter so you can present your desktop?
    There's no good way to automatically force users to use the web app each time unfortunately.  The other organization would need to hardcode that ?sl=1 into each meeting invite sent.

    When using a web client, everything works fine the first time in. If I use

  • Install IR web client manually

    Hi all,
    Has anybody ever tried to install IR web client manually using setupie.bat or setupff.bat in the folder zeroadmin\component\Insight ?
    I tried to install it, but after installation, the web client seems unavailable.

    Hi, may I know why do you need to install it manually? For my case, I have tried to install it manually because I can't install the web client through the workspace. However, the web client cannot be installed properly even I run the setup file manually.
    Finally, I found that it is the problem of my web server. Please check if you are facing the same problem of mine.
    For Apache http server, you should install it through workspace properly.
    For IIS5.1, will fail
    For IIS6.0, you need to configure "Web Service Extensions"
    Hope it helps.

    There is a bunch of configuration that is required which you can access using the IMG.   It is to much to detail in this forum but should be pretty straightforward if you go through the IMG.
    I would also check out www.eicexperts.com as they have participated in several implementation and have some valuable information on their website.

  • VCenter Web Client Mouse Issues

    I just upgraded to vCenter 6 and am trying to use the web client, however I'm running into one minor issue and one major issue and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
    Minor Issue: The mouse will not work in the web console until the tools are installed. This is in Windows under both IE, Chrome, and FireFox. This seems silly to me as I need to install the tools with the fat client before I can use the web console.
    Major Issue: Via the web console, I cannot click anything on the taskbar/start menu of a Windows VM. It's almost like the mouse alignment is too high, as when I right-click on the taskbar I get the context menu further up the screen like I clicked the desktop. To the best of my knowledge this started happening after I changed the resolution on the VM. I changed it back, but the behavior hasn't gone away.
    Any ideas?

    I have raised a support case with VMware on this issue, and they have confirmed that this is indeed an issue they are aware of, however so far no workaround is available:
    "This is a known issue which is being handled by our Engineering department. I cannot give a time frame for the resolution. I can only say that it is at the highest priority within our organisation"
    Will post when I get any update on this.
