After using Overdrive Media Console for Mac to listen to book on my iPod, my iPod won't work!
The book went on my iPod and played fine. BUT after trying to update my podcasts and put on more books (from Audible.com) I found that NOTHING would go back on my IPod. I reformatted it, and now I have my music, but only some of my books, and NONE of my podcasts. I then deleted the program (and the book) and reformatted AGAIN. Now I have a bit more of my previous stuff, but it still won't let me add all my books (says the iPod is read only, not write, even tho I have changed the settings) and I can't get ANY podcasts back on it. The message says "iPod is already in use."
I have unchecked the manage updates manually, and the box for using it as a storage device. This has been a NIGHTMARE. I have used an iPod for years--and have three different ones, and none of them will play right since the program messed with my iTunes. I have asked the librarians and no one seems to be familiar with the Mac version. They are all looking at me like I have never used an iPod or a computer and just am not understanding how to upload books. I have deleted the program, and the books, as I said, but maybe there is something still remaining? I have used epub books on my touch with no problem, but the audio/MP3 book on my iPod classic is what has created this problem. UGH!! NEVER AGAIN!!

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I would like to download audiobooks from my public library that has an Overdrive Media contract. I see an Overdrive app in the ITunes store for IPhone.
Do I download the Overdrive Media COnsole for Mac to my iMac and then go through iTunes to get the MP3 files on my iPad?

Thanks - I am new to all of this.The app gives you instructions to browse to the Overdrive site and put in your Zip Code. You can do this from Safari on the iPad. When you find your local library, you will be asked to log in with your Library Card and PIN. When you select compatible content, the Overdrive app will automatically launch, where it will give you the ability to download content segments, or even all segments. It will also help you keep track of when the book will expire etc. The books are broken up into many segments so that you can manage how much content is stored on your iPad. I did this just this morning, and downloaded 8 of 38 segments of the book 2666.

Transferring protected WMA audiobooks to iTunes/iPhone using OverDrive Media Console

My local library is now offering audiobooks. I have downloaded one, that went fine - I have the file and can listen to it. The problem is that I can't seem to transfer the WMA Audiobook to my iPhone using this software they provided (OverDrive Media Console), even though their website says that it can be transferred to apple devices (including my iPhone) and the library site says that this particular audiobook is permitted to be transferred to apple devices (including the iPhone).
When I try to Transfer using the OverDrive Media Console, I get this error:
"The OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard is not able to connect to iTunes. If you intend to transfer content to the iTunes Library and/or a supported Apple device, please note that iTunes v9.0.2 (or newer) is required. iTunes is available as a free download from Apple; visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download iTunes. If your system meets this requirement, please close any open iTunes dialog boxes then attempt to transfer again."
I have read that others have had the problem, but there are few solutions emerging, from what I can see anyway.
I have went to this website (http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite) in my Internet Explorer browser and upgraded the Windows Media Player security version. OverDrive says my security upgrade version is 2.9.0.1.
My iTunes is up to date as far as I know. iTunes 10.4.0.80. Perhaps the recent update is something to do with this problem? I don't know. I am using Windows 7, and the OverDrive Media Console version is 3.2.0.5.
I have changed my iPhone settings to "Manually manage music and videos", as OverDrive requests this.
When I try to put these protected WMA Audiobook files into my Automatically Add to iTunes folder, I get an error message saying:
"One or more of the songs being added are in the protected WMA format, including the song "examplesongname01.wma", and could not be converted.
iTunes can only convert unprotected WMA songs. If you have the original CDs for these songs, you can import them using iTunes."
I have restarted iTunes, OverDrive Media Console, and my computer countless times. My home network sharing is turned off; I mention it as I saw someone had suggested that as a solution.
The two suggested solutions I haven't tried yet are:
- convert them to MP3
- uninstall and reinstall iTunes & OverDrive Media Console again.
I don't really want to uninstall iTunes. I have a lot of music and audiobooks; it takes half aday for iTunes to load them all up again. As for converting to MP3s; I don't know if this is legal. Plus, I don't know if these protected DRM files can be converted like that.
Ok, well I hope someone else was in the same boat & solved it. Otherwise it'd be a real shame if we couldn't get these protected WMA audiobooks onto our iPhones.

Thanks.Once you have downloaded the audiobook to Overdrive Media (OMC), you need to connect the Apple device to which you wish to transfer the ebook, then use the transfer button on OMC. That converts it to an mp3 file. The ebook cannot be transferred to iTunes. iTunes is simply the medium used in the transfer to an Apple device. The tutorial below covers all the specifics.

I can't find out how to transfer an audiobook I borrowed from the library (it's on my PC and plays on it) to my iPod Touch2 4th generation. I have the device linked via the PC's USB port via the cable connector, and iTunes shows the device on the software page, but when I try to transfer the book I get a message from the Overdrive Media console software (which is the necessary software to download from the library) advising me that a setting on the iTunes must be changed to allow the tranfer between my PC to the iPod. Something about choosing "manually", but I cannot find anything on the iTunes page that allows me to do this. I can't see it in help or tutorials, or anywhere. UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD LIBRARY BOOKS USING OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE
Hello until recently I was able to download e books from the library to my PlayBook using Overdrive Media Console. I was able to get directly to my PlayBook. However it is now not working. I am unable to download to PlayBook. I have deleted and reinstalled several times. The only way I can read is through my browser. This means I can only read where I have Internet access. I can not understand why it stopped working. I contacted my library but they were not sure what the problem is. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I hope I can figure it out as I enjoy borrowing books from the library.
Looks like nobody on the forum uses overdrive. Threads are mostly a year old if you search for Overdrive on the forum.
The recent reviews on blackberry world say that it no longer works.

Contact the library.
Remember they only sold two million playbooks worldwide which is a tiny number. Support for this minority app may be hard to find.
If you dare, you could try the security wipe and start again, but you may lose all your data as you need to backup and restore which is risky.

Overdrive Media Console for IPod
I have a 2nd generation Ipod toubh 9GB. I have been able to download books from my library straight to the Ipod via Overdrive Media Console. I have been able to download and play the books just fine. The only thing is that no matter which book I am listening to playback stutters and stops continuously after about 15 mins. I wrote Overdrive support and they told me to reboot my Ipod. I have done this several times but to no avail. I thought it may be that snooze was enable so I tried to check snooze for 90 mins but still after 15 mins playback stops and my place is not saved either. I am wondering if anyone else has encoutered this problem.

What's changed is that i got an ipad and kindle and am syncing between devices for books from amazon.
On i side note why i am not running latest version of iphone. I stayed away from syncing or upgrading the iphone from laptop because of previously losing all data. Apples answer was that I should use more than their itunes software for backup since they don't maintain multiple versions. (during version upgrade the backup it took was corrupted thereby losing data of last good backup) so any istore app that had data was lost. -
Playing audio books loaded using Overdrive Media Console
I have iTunes 10.1.0.54, Overdrive Media Console 3.2.0.5.... I checked out a book from the Maine online library and used Overdirve Media Console to put it on my iPod Shuffle 4th Generation 1.0.1.... If I play the book from iTunes, it works fine.... Playing the book from the iPod, the books loops on part 1 for 6.... Any ideas?
The answer is there is no answer.....
I contacted Overdrive support and they confirmed that iPod Shuffle 4th Generation is NOT compatible with Overdrive Media Console at this time.... They did not indicate if they will address the problems in the future...
For a six part book, it will load to the iPod Shuffle, but when you try to listen it will loop on the first part and ignore the other five parts... If you fast forward, it will transfer to breaks within the first part....
I also have an iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation and it works fine on that device... -

I can't find the audio books transferred using OverDrive Media Console
I have downloaded audiobooks using OverDrive Media. They are transferred to my Ipod nano but don't show up in "Audiobooks" .or anywhere else.
Do they appear in iTunes? They must, since you used iTunes to sync the items to your iPod nano...
In iTunes, in what category (under LIBRARY in sidebar) do they appear? If they do not appear under Books, find (and select) the items in your iTunes library (or on a playlist), wherever it is listed. Do a Get Info on the item. In the Info window, on the Options tab, make sure Media Kind is set to Audiobook.
Make sure the items now appear in the Books category. Try syncing them to your nano again. -

Go to Solution.It now appears that MP3s downloaded via ODM cannot be played by the Blackberry player whereas the BB player worked with the older devices running the non-Android version of Overdrive Media Console. Hopefull BB will correct this problem soon with an update.

My apple nano 4th generation was working fine until about 2 weeks ago I downloaded a new updated from apple ?, after that I lost everthing, I've worked over 30 hours trying all suggestion including removing in sequence all apple related programs. Overdrive Media Console can't recognize iTunes after 12.1.1.4 upgrade
I have successfully used Overdrive Media Console to transfer audiobooks to my iPod Classic (160GB) for a couple of years. However, after upgrading iTunes to current 12.1.1.4 version on my PC (Windows Vista), when I try to transfer either MP3 or WMA audiobooks, Overdrive says it cannot connect to iTunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and Overdrive multiple times without success, and have reset my iPod. Overdrive support advises that this issue sometimes arises when iTunes upgrades, but that its current version of Overdrive Media Console, which I have, has fixed this issue with iTunes 12.1.1.4, and they are "unable to duplicate" my problem using current iTunes and Overdrive versions. Any suggestions?
You may find that the version of iTunes found here works better with your third party software.
iTunes for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
Like all 64-bit versions of iTunes prior to 12.1 it is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit code.
