After WS2012-R2 Update, Hyper-V Network Issues

Hey Everyone, Have a really strange issue after upgrading a HP DL385 G7 from WS2012 to R2. After the upgrade Hyper-V VMs ceased to have network activity. I could not get the network adapters in the VMs to do anything. Host OS NIC was ok after resetting IP
Info. 1 Interface for Host, 3 in NIC Team for Hyper-V.
Network Adapters: Two HP NC382i Integrated Dual Port Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapters
(Main Server: Listed as Broadcom BCM5709C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client)  ....???
(Backup Server: Listed as HP NC382i DP Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter)
We also have a backup server, the EXACT same, DL385 G7, that is working (and now currently operating as server with VHDs copied from main server since main is down) that has been running WS2012R2 for a couple months now.
Here's basically how the process has gone so far:
1. Upgraded to WS2012R2 (all files were left in tact), Windows Updates, then realized NICs weren't working correctly
 a. Checked NIC Team, V-Switch & NIC Settings in VMs...Removed, Re-Add NICs to VMs (with correct VLAN IDs)
 b. Reset IP Info inside VMs, Uninstalled (including hidden/unused) NICs from Device Manager, Re-Add & Config (This is how I got Host OS to work again)
 c. Updated to latest drivers from HP's site
 d. Uninstall Hyper-V role, Re-Install Hyper-V role, Create new VMs, Configure
2. Fresh Install of WS2012R2, Windows Updates, Configure Server & NICs/Team, Install Hyper-V, Create VMs (same VHDs)
 a. Installed latest HP drivers again, then steps A & B (from above) again
 b. Installed latest "Broadcom" drivers, then steps A & B (from above) again
 c. Tried backing up NIC drivers from backup server and restoring them to main server, but it hasn't worked...
 d. Uninstalled Drivers and right now i'm sitting with Microsoft's default drivers that it has found (Broadcom BCM5709C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client)
Does anyone have any clues? And possibly a good method to backup the drivers from the server that is working and restoring them to the server that isn't working?

Hey,
Well the issue is solved. After I had a few days away from it. I went and started looking again and realized something that I forgot to check before........the NIC Team settings on the backup server.... And go figure, the settings were different than how
my boss said we should be setting it up (Mode was set to Switch Independent when apparently it needed to be LACP). Not exactly sure why Switch Independent mode just refused to work at all with hyper-v...but oh well.
So, to everyone else, double check NIC Team settings instead of wasting several hours like I foolishly did.
But thanks again to Udo and Brian for their suggestions.

  • After the recent update I am having issues with Flash based games freezing and not responding.

After the recent update I am having issues with flash based programs not running or loading correctly.  The programs will not load or take an extremely long time to load compared to jsut a few days ago.  This happens across the board on anything flash based.  Also, once they do load they will freeze, stop responding or need to be constantly refreshed to come back alive which is short lived at best.  I went thru the help and did all the file deleting, cache clearing, disabling hardware acceleration, removing then reinstalling flash, and even removing and reinstalling my browsers.  None of this has helped at all.  I am using Chrome and it is up to date and I checked my Flash player and it is up to date.  I am running windows 7 64bit.

Here's what you're up against guys,
Adobe writes the base code for Flash Player, and then hands it off to Google, who adapt it to a PPAPI plug-in (it's NPAPI when Adobe writes it). It's then "PepperFlash" and Google embeds it in their Chrome browser. While Google is pushing a "webwide" move to PPAPI Flash Content, a reinvention of the wheel so to speak, not everyone "got the memo", and Google is slowly making it so that PepperFlash will block NPAPI Flash content from running properly, and you have to disable PepperFlash to force the NPAPI plug-in to work, which sometimes fixes it, sometimes not. I have a feeling this is only going to get worse. HTML5 will eventually resolve the video end but game developers need to come up with something that won't require a plug-in.
And to the first post:  Since PepperFlash is embedded in Chrome by Google, you can uninstall and reinstall Flash Player from here until your hard drive literally seizes up.... guess what? It has NO EFFECT at all on the PepperFlash plug-in in Chrome because it's a separate file in a separate folder and the uninstaller & installers don't have anything to do with it.

  • Hyper-V Networking Issue

I have a Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center Computer - The computer works perfectly fine/normal until I install Hyper-V.
Once I install Hyper-V the Windows Store and any of the apps do not detect an internet connection; in desktop mode the internet is working normally and in the Network Connections I can see the virtual network adapters as connected to my wireless network
and I can see a virtual switch that is connected to it. The Windows Phone adapter is stuck on identifying.
The internet works fine in the Windows Phone Emulator despite being stuck on identifying in Network Connections but it does not work inside a Windows 10 virtual machine even though I am using the same virtual adapter as my computer, in Windows 10 the adapter
shows as identifying, If I try troubleshooting it cannot find any problems, I cannot ping to anything except 127.0.0.1.
I have tried every type of Windows Store troubleshooting you could possibly imagine, from wsreset.exe to running the AppsDiagnostic.diagcab file.
The only reason I am posting here is because of the VM for Windows 10 didn't work I thought I'd try removing and re-adding Hyper-V; I realised that once I had removed Hyper-V the Windows Store started working again.
After reinstalling Hyper-V I fiddled around with the virtual adapters such as ticking every box but this did not make a difference.
I have also tried deleting the virtual adapters from Network Connections but the Windows Store still did not work. I have then tried re-adding the virtual adapters but still the Windows Store/apps and VM don't detect an internet connection.
I have tried searching online for a solution for this problem but I cannot seem to find a way to troubleshoot this I do not know what the connection between Hyper-V and the Windows Store/apps could be to cause this fault. I think this must be some kind of
networking issue but I don't know where else I can look besides Network and Sharing Center.
I have also tried updating the networking adapter on my computer but it does not find any updates.
I would like to just not use Hyper-V and use a different program but Visual Studio 2013 Professional tells me that I need Hyper-V installed for the Windows Phone Emulator to work, so I need to find a way to fix this problem.
I hope that I have been descriptive enough for someone to know what the issue is, hopefully it is something really simple.

    This resolved my problem
This issue might occur if the network connection services and the connection hierarchy permissions are not set appropriately.
I would suggest you to change the network connection type to private and check if it fixes the issue. Follow the methods listed below:
    Method 1:
Follow the steps below to change the connection type to private network and check if it resolves the issue:
Press Windows+C keys and click on Settings.
Right click or press and hold on your network connection and click/tap on Turn sharing on or off.
Select the option “Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices: For home and work networks”.
If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.
Sign-out and sign-in again to the user account. Verify the results. If the issue still persists, proceed to the next method.
    Method 2:
Let’s check if the network service are running and there is proper permission given to the network hierarchy. Follow the steps given below:
    Step 1:
To check for the network services:
Press Windows+R keys and type “services.msc”. Hit Enter.
Locate Network Location Awareness service and right click on it. Choose Properties.
Set Startup type to Automatic and service status to Start. Go to Dependencies tab on the same window and take a note of the services listed.
Click on Apply and then go to Service.msc window. Locate all the dependency service and ensure that they are running in Automatic mode.
Follow the same steps for Network List Service and ensure that it’s dependent services are running as well.
    Proceed to step 2.
    Step 2:
Follow the steps listed below to set appropriate permission for Network List hierarchy under Registry:
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps
carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, you can refer to the following steps to back the registry
    files on the computer:
Press Windows and R keys to open the run box.
Type ‘regedit’ and press Enter from the keyboard.
Open the file option on the menu bar.
Click on Export and save the file with a name on the desktop.
If you want to restore the file, you can do so by double clicking the file that you have saved on the desktop.
Press Windows+R keys and type “regedit”. Hit Enter.
    Navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList
Right Click on NetworkList and choose Permission. Ensure that Full permission is allowed for the users other than that of the administrator.
Now, click on “Advanced” option. Check the box that says “replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object”.
Click on Apply and then on OK. Click on OK again.
    Close regedit window.
Re-check the status of the service (as suggested in step 1).
Restart the computer if needed. Check if it resolves the issue.

  • My macbook pro and iphone4 after newest ios update has had wifi issues, very very snail pace slow

um i recently last week? updated my macbook pro and my iphone 4 to lastest ios, and ever since then my wifi has been slow,

  • Hyper-V Network Configuration Problem - Virtual Switch

    Hi guys,
I'm looking for some help with a Hyper-V Network issues. I have been handed over a project by a client that is not fully complete and the person who built it is not available at all. The setup is a HP C7000 blade chassis and a HP SAN.
The previous guy built a hyper-v cluster with 2 nodes; HV1 & HV2 - this works fine, I can live migrate etc and all is good.
This is how it was handed over to myself, my job is to add the third node to the cluster so I have installed the OS, drivers etc. Hyper-V role and clustering role. My problem arises with the Hyper-V switch configuration.
    Points;
Each node has two NIC adapters, both of these network adapters are teamed
A virtual switch is created on each node using the aforementioned NIC Team
On the existing nodes I can see the management IP for the node is set on the virtual switch adapter
On the third node (HV3) I created NIC Team using both of the NIC's, I then created an external virtual switch using this teamed network adapter. However when I try to apply a management IP address to the virtual switch adapter it won't respond and I see
a yellow triangle on the network adapter in the corner. When I remove the virtual switch and apply and IP address to the NIC Team the server is contactable and shows in the Cluster manager as up. However the problem then is I don't have a virtual switch.
If someone could help me with this that would be great - please tell me if you require further information.
    Below is a screenshot of the adapter for HV1 (working fine) from failover cluster manager;
    thank you advance :)

Hi Brian, thanks for the reply. This is what I tried initially. However I just restarted the server I tried it again - still no luck.
Just to clarify when I team together the two flexfabric network adapters and apply an IP address to the team for testing - the team works fine, so the team doesn't seem to be an issue.
Once I create the virtual switch and assign the team to the switch and enable management OS to share I apply the IP address to the vEthernet adapter and I can't ping the default gateway or anything for that matter.
    Any other ideas ?

  • How can i fix my iphone 3gs when i have network issues after updating to IOS 6.1.3 and avoid the connect to ITunes screen?

Im an owner of an Iphone 3gs.
When I updated my software to IOS 6.1.3 I started having network issues such as my phone would go on searching, it would search for signal and then No service after few minutes it would restart and when its on again it would show me Connect To Itunes screen, I tried connecting but nothing happens and if I just leave it as it is it will just keep on restarting and showing the same screen sometimes I might get lucky and the phone will start working again but No Service and if I turn on my 3G for the times Im outdoors it will just restart again so 3G is also another problem I have got. Today I decided to take it to an Apple Store, the guy restored it and now what happens is that it switches on and is showing me the connect to Itunes message but with black backround and i cant do anything it keeps on restarting and showing the same thing. Please if there is anyone that would like to spend some time with me to help me out, he would be more than Welcome.

  • IPhone cellular network issues after iOS 7.0.6 update

iPhone 5s recently updated to 7.0.6 having cellular network issues. Works on LTE, dead while on 3G. Wifi works. Anyone know why?

Indeed, but if you are in a weak coverage area or even somewhere like a basement, LTE occasionally cuts out leaving you with a 3G connection, which the device will display accordingly. During the times when my device is on 3G I do not receive voicemail, iMessages, or any network connection and get a message telling me my device is "not connected to the internet" even though the 3G indicator is present. Once LTE kicks back in or I find a wifi connection this is no longer a problem, but the phone automatically toggles back and fourth between LTE and 3G more often than desirable which became noticeable when stuff stopped working during the 3G periods.

  • Networking Issues after Upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have a Windows 8 desktop PC that is working fine with my network.  I can browse the Internet fine using all major browsers etc.  After upgrading to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store I noticed that my wired networking was not working correctly.
The status of the network does not change (i.e. it doesn't change to Limited Connectivity) however browsing to sites in Chrome, IE or Firefox doesn't work as well as Windows 8.
IE11 gives me the error "This page can't be displayed, make sure the web address is correct" and other browsers give a similar error.  I normally have to refresh 2-3 times to get a new page to load, sometimes even more.  Everything works
fine from a laptop connected at the same time so it isn't an network issue with my provider.
I thought this might be a driver issue with the two on-board Marvell wired network adapters.   I wasn't able to rollback the driver to older versions I found on the Internet.  I then purchased another network card, Intel Desktop gigabit and the
issue still persists with that adapter.  I then tried a USB wireless adapter and the issue still persists using wifi with the wired adapters disabled.  I tried a new network cable and no luck either.  I also tried resetting the IP stack using
    the various netsh commands.
After that I thought I might try reset the Windows 8.1 PC, however that didn't work as I didn't have the restore image available as I upgraded from the Windows Store.  I then tried installing Windows 8.1 fresh using a ISO with my Windows 8 key using
some of the recent guides that are available.  That all worked but it didn't fix the networking issues.
I re-installed Windows 8.0 and the networking is now fixed and back to working normal again.  I'd like to try again but I think I will have the same problems.  I can't imagine why this would be a driver issue as I tried 3 different network adapters
and two installs of Windows 8.1.  Any ideas what would be the cause of the Windows 8.1 issue?

    HI,
Since this issue only occurred in the your desktop PC, and many network adapters you tried, failed, thus I think maybe we should focus on the model of your desktop PC, I suggest you update the BIOS and chipset from the manufacture to improve
    the performance of win8.1.
Please also test this issue in safe mode with networking.

The issue occurs in safe mode as well under Windows 8.1.  The motherboard is an Asus P5B Premium, however it works on Windows 8.  How would I update the chipset when booted into Windows 8.1?  In Device Manager it wasn't allowing me to update
the network drivers as they were newer versions already installed.
Edit:  I also installed at Intel Chipset Device software dated 8/8/2013 with version 9.4.0.1026 and the issue still occurs.  I am also running the latest BIOS that is available.

  • Network issue with initial connections on Hyper-V

This is the opposite of all the other networking issues I have seen with Hyper-V- anyone run into this?
I am running Hyper-V on a Server Core installation, and have had the same issue when I used Server 2012R2 as when I used Server 2008R2 on the same server as a virtual host. The server is an HP ProLiant DL360 Gen8 with 2x 8-core processors, 32 GB RAM. The
VM is sized and configured to stay within 1 NUMA node. It uses a single port of the 4-port HP/Broadcom 331 NIC, with all the TCP LSO settings disable at the switch, host, and guest, same with the power management settings. We have ProxyARP on the network,
so I have set the ArpRetryCount key to 0.
I have seen it happening with and without SR-IOV enabled. The guest OS is an RDS server, so for the sake of our CAL's it has to stay at Server 2008R2. I have set up a HOSTS file to mitigate this problem, as it seems to be a DNS issue- Here's what happens:
The first time I visit a resource, the server will timeout. An example not in our HOSTS file does this consistently: If I go to https://mail.mydomain.com/OutlookWebAccess, it spins for a couple of minutes before timing out. I hit refresh and the page loads
immediately. This server is colocated in-house, as is the mailserver. I'd say it is a DNS issue at some level, but I'd like to know what level it is- Is it just timing out trying to cache the DNS request, or is there a performance issue with a DNS server on
the network? (All of our DNS is AD-integrated running on DC's).
Here is where I'm seeing this:
    Internet Explorer- described above
Salient Interactive Miner- at the login screen, it searches for a database and times out. If I go to the setup and enter the IP address, it still times out. It will not find the database server until I quit and restart the program. If this is the same issue,
it would obviously not be a DNS problem.
I DON'T see it in GP9 connecting to a datasource
Prior to setting up the HOSTS file, I saw this in Windows Explorer connecting to network shares on the same LAN segment.
This appears to only happen to the Hyper-V guest OS. As a best practice, whenever Windows Update runs, I update the Integration Components.
I have the bindings properly ordered on the guest VM, with the network adapter the goes to the physical NIC first, and IPv4 ordered before IPv6.
All updates are isntalled, and the firmware is at it's latest revision.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Daniel,
" This appears to only happen to the Hyper-V guest OS. "
Do you mean that any other hosts can access the network resource normally  except these VMs ?
If yes , my suggestion is to disable the VMQ on the physical NIC  for the VMs , then try test again .

  • Issue after latest security update on WEBCAM via WiFi (MOBIOLA WEBCAM APP)

    Hello everyone,
I've used for a long time Mobiola WEBCAM (app that turns one's iPhone/iPad into a webcam via WIFI) in Skype/Viber and video chat sites like Omegle (all done through GOOGLE CHROME), up until yesterday.
As of today, any of my browsers or my Skype?Viber applications on my MAC MINI (late 2012) won't recognize my Video FEED.
I do get a connection between the iPhone/iPAD and the MAC MINI, I see the video working properly on the app (MOBIOLA WEBAM) but the VIDEO is not being "fed/transferred" for some reason to any browser or Skype/Viber.
I've have tried to use the WEbcam on other browsers such as Safari, Firefox and Opera to no avail. I'm simply not able to make it work.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled diferent veriosn of FLASH player, and the problem still persists.
I'm begging to wonder that all this issue has got something to do with the latest MAC OS X security update and nothing with the browsers, adobe flash player/shockwave or application versions.
Is it a adobe flash issue? Mac os x issue? I should I proceed?
    Any help is appreciated...

I'm certain it's not a network issue. I have two Powerbook G4s. One of these is running Tiger and the other Panther. The G4 running Tiger had 10.4.8 and was recently updated to 10.4.9. This G4 developed problems doing software updates after I did the upgrade to 10.4.8 and it continues to have problems with 10.4.9. My other G4 running 10.3.9 Pather could connect on this network to do updates (even though my G4 running Tiger could not) until recently when I did an upgrade to install a security patch. After installing the security patch on my G4 running 10.3.9, it also could no longer connect to do software updates. When this first occured on my Tiger G4, I trashed the System Configuration file in my Library folder, restarted my computer and was able to do a software update. When I try this now on either computer it no longer works and can't do software updates. I have also trashed my cache file without being able to resolve the problem.

  • Issues after the last update Lumia 920, can't see ...

    Hi.
I have this issue after the update.  I do not know what's wrong but I can not see my recent calls. Neither can see my sms is sent or the ones I have taken back.
I have tried to call one of my friends. I can hear them but they can not hear me. I have also checked with my operator and they do not have the disruption will harm the network.
So what's really wrong? This happened after the last update I did. Living in Sweden, Gävle uses Tele2 comviq simcard.

When did you update? Have you tried simply rebooting your phone by pressing and holding both Vol down + power buttons for around 10 seconds until the phone vibrates? If that doesn't work, you could try resetting your phone but make sure you backup your data beforehand.

I cant understand why apple have not been saying what's going on and when they will fix it. I have tried everyone's suggestions on this forum and the Internet. Still no luck.

  • Very Strange Network Issue With Two Guests on 2012 R2 Hyper-V Failover Cluster

Hi all.  We're having a odd issue with two guests on our 2012 R2 failover cluster.
In a nutshell, if we shutdown a particular server (I'll call it Server A) another totally different server (Server B) on the same node loses it's network connectivity to the domain. If we start server A back up, network connectivity returns on server B.
At first I thought server A might be running a service that was somehow linked to server B, so I decided to disable server A's NIC.  Interestingly, that had no affect on server B's connectivity.
The next step I tried was pausing server A and again, no adverse affect on server B's connectivity.
Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
One other clue is that if I ping server B from either of the Hyper-V hosts in the cluster, I never lose network connection to server B.
So I would suspect this is some network issue on the cluster, but I'm kind of at a loss where to go from here.
Has anyone seen this behavior before or does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions I can try?
    Thanks!
    George Moore

    Hi Sir,
I'v never seen this before .
    >>Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
They are connecting to same virtual switch ?
First please run cluster validation to check if there is any error .
If it is ok , please try the following items for troubleshooting :
    1. shutdown  serverA   serverB
    2. then add another virtual NIC for serverB
    3. start server B  check if the issue happens to both "old" and "new" virtual NIC .
In addition , you can live migrate both A and B to another node , then try to live migrate A to the original node .
If the issue persists , I would suggest you to remove that virtual switch on both nodes then re-create them .
    Best Regards,
    Elton Ji

After the latest update we've had to iOS 6, I was not able to use FaceTime, it kept giving me an error that I was supposed to wait for an activation code which never arrived, after that I read many solutions which included resetting the networks, which I did to try and fix my problem. What this actually did was to break my network settings an now it doesn't recognize any wifi signal unless I have the router next to me and even the it is difficult.
Now I don't have FaceTime or access to wifi with my iPhone!
    Please help me!

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
