  • Yosemite or itunes upgrade problem

Since upgrading to yosemite and iTunes 12.0.1..26 on an early 2011 macbook pro it no longer recognizes my iPod nano 6th generation. I have tried shutting them both down and restarting, resetting the iPod but no luck.  It does recognize my iPhone 5 and an older iPod shuffle. What do I do now??

I've already downloaded it once via iTunes itself and, a second time, via the iTunes website. For some reason, however, iTunes hasn't updated from being version 9.1.
With that one, I'd check on the *Opening iTunes* section at the bottom of the following document:

You are over working your RAM. Your machine should be able to take more RAM.
The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

    Hi pwat01,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you are not able to authorize iTunes to play your purchases, I would suggest the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article. Be sure to follow all of the steps included in the article including removing the SC Info folder if necessary.

  • IPad syncs video but can't find video file on iPad, previous OS upgrade and ITunes upgrade no problem

I could play the video file before but sine OS and recent ITunes upgrade I cannot. iTunes indicates the video file in on the iPad but you can't find it in voids icon, apple support has not yielded an answer so far

I found out: you cannot sync. clips directly into the iMovie APP via iTunes. Well, you can but it wont be available for edditing.
You must sync them into Camera Roll.

  • IMac unsuable after Quicktime and Itunes 8 update

    Hi everyone,
Yesterday, I came home, ran a software update and saw that Quicktime was available. I decided to install it and when it asked me to restart, I clicked on "Not Now". Later while reading some news site, I saw that iTunes 8 was available so I did a software update in iTunes. At this point, the software application asked to install 2 items "Quicktime" - which I had already installed, and iTunes 8.
    Everything installed and I rebooted.
Once I rebooted, I couldn't open finder, my toolbar was frozen, when I click on the Dock the applications don't start. I can use spotlight but nothing opens.
I rebooted in safe mode. It worked fine for a while then started doing the same thing.
I unplugged everything but the mouse and keyboard and rebooted. It got to the login screen but once I login, it freezes on the splash screen and I never reach my desktop.
I tried resetting my pRam and I get the same thing. I can login but then I'm stuck on the splash screen.
    Any ideas?

    Hello mind:
An archive and install will install a fresh copy of OS X while retaining your files, programs and settings.
From your description, your current OS X is clobbered. You could play around and try a bunch of things, but an archive and install is (IMHO) the best way to get back to normal. You would then run software update to bring things to current levels (without interrupting it). A&I also creats a very large +"previous system"+ folder that is sort of a +"safety net."+ While it is not bootable, it contains all of your programs and files before the process starts. You can delete this file after things are running well (I suggest about three weeks).

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 not opening on Yosemite and no upgrade possible!

I update to Yosemite and than when  I run the iPhoto bring me to Apple store and once I do update than
I receive this "weird" message ! No update available for this ID or the iPhoto has been reimbursed or cancel.
So now I've all my picture somewhere inside my MAC but I cannot manage at least to take them out to
try to migrate to other pictures management software (see Picasa). Ot at least to have a storage somewhere.
Can someone help on the matter??? There is any physical way to get our the picture from the folder of iPhoto?
    Thanks

Have you checked, if you are signed into to the AppStore with the correct AppleID? The AppleID you used, when you originally set up your Mac? Did  iPhoto come preinstalled with MacOS X 10.7 or later, or did it come on installer disks with MacOS 10.6.8?
If iPhoto came preinstalled, check if it is showing on the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, perhaps with "accept" beside the name.  if you see it in your purchases, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder  (don't empty the Trash), reload the Purchased tab with ⌘-R and install it again.
If the above does not work:
The problem is, that the update does not work well, when you try to update directly from iPhoto iPhoto 9.4.1 to 9.6. It would have been easier, if you updated to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case contact the AppStore (from the Quick Links at the AppStore) to solve the AppleID problem. They may provide a redeem code, so you can download the update.

  • IPhone not recognized after Leopard and iTunes 7.6 upgrade -- solution

I did the iTunes 7.6 upgrade and then the Leopard install this past weekend. Everything seemed to work fine until I tried to sync my phone... iTunes didn't recognize that it was there, although I had power, etc.
Briefly, the solution is to reinstall iTunes 7.6. It may well be that if you do Leopard and then 7.6 you're fine, but I ended up doing it the other way.
This link below is to the relevant thread on the iPhone forum:

Thank you Jennifer. That was very helpful. I'm new to Apple MacOS. Not new to computing by any stretch however, having been a DE at Sun for 9 years, 2 years at Cisco and a couple of lesser known startups in Silly Valley. I hope their are more folks like you on these forums, and fewer like 'South Beach'. Thanks again for the iPhoto tip, that was very helpful. I did get the iPhone 'fixed' by re-installing the iTunes 7.6 pkg. You wouldn't happen to know how to turn off the boogus status icon in my launcher bar (top of screen) that complains about .Mac 'conflicts'? I don't have a .Mac account and don't want one. When I select 'review conflicts now' nothing happens, no dialogue, no new windows, nothing. This glyph appeared after I installed Leopard. I am less than impressed with this release from Cupertino.

  • 3 Beep when i try to boot Snow Leopard (after memory and sad upgrade)

    Good night,
I have a Macbook Pro Later 2011 with Yosemite installed and today i tried to upgrade memory and SSD.
    Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 (2x8) Corsair 11-11-11-30 1.35v
SSD: Corsair 120GB Sata 3 Force GT
After installation of my new gear, i tried to install OS X Snow Leopard through DVD and i get this 3 beep when boot start.
So i reinstalled the original hard drive, keep the new 16gb and started correctly.
Tried boot DVD again with the original hard drive and new 16gb but the 3 beep continues...
Then i removed the 16gb, but still doing this 3 beep stuff when i try boot from DVD.
I tried all combinations with new and old hardware but nothing more works...
I have changed the slots with both, the 16gb and old 4gb.
    Could be the DVD corrupted?
Now im running my Yosemite with the original hard drive and the new 16gb memory without any issue.
Im already do the memory test nothing wrong appear in results
    My configuration:
MacBook Pro (17 polegadas, Final de 2011)
Processador 2,4 GHz Omte; Cpre i7
    Memória 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Gráficos Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
    Could anyone help me plz?
    ps. sorry for my english

The DVD's too old for that Mac. If you need to install an OS on it, connect it to the Internet and start it up with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

  • Iphoto will not launch after lion and iPhoto upgrade

"your iPhoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
This is the message i get after paying apple3 0 dollars for the lion upgrade and 14.99 iphoto upgrade. Can you now help fix?? you have my money. Now give me back my computer

Do as the instructions tell you.
Hold down the Option and Command keys and launch iPhoto at the same time.
You'll see a dialog box open.
    Select:   Repair Database
    Or, restore from a backup.

  • After Yosemite update, iTunes recognizes but won't play songs

    Hey guys,
I updated to Yosemite today. Things are still groggy but generally good...except for iTunes 12.0.1.26
The library loads and can find my songs but they won't play. I've tried several different methods to play tracks but nothing appears to happening. It goes into a play state at 0:00 in the song but won't advance.
I don't see mention so far of other users struggling, but I hope you can help.
    iMac 24-inch Early 2009 model.

I called Apple Care. The tech said the problem was not common and the symptoms seemed to require a PRAM reset. So that's what we did.
To do the PRAM Rest, on reboot, hold:
    ⌘ + ⌥ + P + R
The computer will do its startup chime twice...like its rebooting each time. After that, it took a little extra time to reboot and then worked smoothly.
I did still have a few weird anomalies...
1 - Airplay in iTunes defaulted on...I had to turn it back off
2 - Airplay was selected as the default in System Settings too...
I had to turn off Airplay in iTunes and select Headphone out in System Settings > Sound but now everything seems to be in order.
