Agent on 11g-puzlled

An exploration of a newly acquired database;
Somehow the agent installation details are making me puzzled:
ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/11g/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1

OMS Version : 10.2.0.4.2

Agent Home : /opt/oracle/11g/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/dbs2
Agent binaries : /opt/oracle/11g/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
Usually I'd make AGENT_HOME AS /opt/oracle/11g/oracle/product/11.2.0/agent
and will never mix the bin if the db and the bin of the agent.
Is the installation as described some kind of smart design or is a om?
What do you think ?

  • Where can I download the agent for 11g database for 10.2.0.4 grid control?

    where can I download the agent for 11g database for 10.2.0.4 grid control? i can't find the link.

    I don't think there is one yet, but you can use Grid Control 10gR4 to monitor a 11g database. Please refer the certification matrix in Note 412431.1 Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Checker

    Thats nice,
    The User Messaging Service could then be used to configure incoming actionable mails. But I need to listen to multiple email servers. Is this possible to achieve this using UMS ?
    To put it simply, I need to instantiate a composite after the emails are being polled from the email server.

  • Need Steps or documents to connect existing 10g agent to 11g oms

    Hi All,
    Just installed 11g oms on oel 5.5 linux and it runs good. We have several hp servers run 10205 agents and they are monitored by 10205 oms on window. We want to use this new 11g oms to replace the 10205 oms. How to make this 11g linux oms to find the 10g hp agents?
    Has anyone known the steps to configure an existing 10205 hp agent to connect to linux 11g oms? Or generally the steps to modify an existing 10g agent to see the 11g oms?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Sorry my mistake.
    You should
    1.
    Stop the Management Agent.
    2.
    Locate the emd.properties file in the Management Agent home directory:
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties
    3.
    Use a text editor to open the file and locate the REPOSITORY_URL property.
    4.
    Modify the value for the REPOSITORY_URL property so it references the new Management Service. For example:
    REPOSITORY_URL=http://mgmthost2.acme.com:4889/em/upload
    5.
    Modify the value for the emdWalletSrcUrl property so it references the new Management Service. For example, if the new Management Service is on a host called mgmthost2.acme.com , modify the property as follows:
    emdWalletSrcUrl=http://mgmthost2.acme.com:4889/em/wallets/emd
    6.
    Save your changes and close the emd.properties file.
    7.
    To ensure that the Management Agent is no longer holding any specific data or settings from the previous Management Service, delete all the files in the following directories:
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload/
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state/
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/collection/*
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/protocol.ini
    Note that this action removes all user-defined metrics (UDM)s and custom changes to metric and policy collections.
    Note:
    You can use the emctl clearstate agent command to delete the files in the state directory.
    8.
    Restart the Management Agent.

  • Upgrade Agent to 11g to run on 10.2.05 repository

    Hello.
    I want to upgrade our 10.2.0.5 agent to 11.1.0.1.0 and have confirmed that this is supported via Certifications on Metalink.
    Does anyone have experience of this procedure?
    Regards,
    DA.

    Steps for the upgrade are thus:
    Upgrade Procedure, as per Upgrading Oracle Management Agent Using a Response File from Oracle® Enterprise Manager Grid Control Advanced Installation and
    Configuration Guide
    11g Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0)
    Part Number E16847-10
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/upgrade_agent_usng_rsp.htm#CEGIDJFC
    To upgrade an existing Management Agent using a response file, follow these steps:
    1.
    Backup Agent Home and set Registration Password.
    Backup the exisiting Agent Home
    cp -R /oraoem/agent10g /oraoem/pre_upgrade_agent10g
    set a Registration Password in Grid Control
    In oraoem’s bash shell, set an environment variable for $AGENT_INSTALL_PASSWORD
    2.
    Prepare Response File.
    Navigate to and edit the response file upgrade_agent.rsp as described here:
    edit rsp file, as per Oracle doc, and set 2 values:
    OLD_BASE_DIR
    If you have the default name for the Oracle home of your existing Management Agent, that is, agent10g, then specify the path to the old installation base
    directory where the Management Agent to be upgraded is residing.
    For example, if the Management Agent is residing in /john/OracleHomes/10.2/agent10g, then specify only /john/OracleHomes/10.2/
    ORACLE_AGENT_HOME_LOCATION
    Specify the location where the Oracle home of the Management Agent (agent11g) can be created.
    Therefore:
    The old installation base directory where the Management Agent to be upgraded is residing =
    OLD_BASE_DIR = /oraoem
    ORACLE_AGENT_HOME_LOCATION = /oraoem/agent10g
    3.
    Stop the Agent and Invoke installation.
    Stop the Management Agent you want to upgrade.
    as oraoem emctl stop agent
    Invoke the installer:
    If you have the default name for the Oracle home of your existing Management Agent, that is, agent10g, then: run the following command:
    ./runInstaller -silent -responseFile /<path to upgrade_agent.rsp>
    4.
    Post upgrade tasks.
    After you upgrade verify the installation:
    emctl status agent
    Run the following command to see a message that confirms that EMD upload completed successfully:
    $<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emctl upload
    manually run the root.sh script as a root user from the Oracle home of the Management Agent:
    as oraoem stop the agent
    emctl stop agent
    as root run the root.sh
    <Oracle_Home>/root.sh
    start agent
    emctl start agent

  • Any way to enable all Agents in 11G?

    We're having a hard time upgrading our 10G BI_SCHED schema to the 11G BIPLATFORM schema. Honestly, the iBot history is not needed. However, on upgrading our RPD all iBots were upgraded to 11G agents but they are not enabled. Is there a way to bulk enable everything?

  • Mail Activation Agents in 11g

    Hi,
    Our requirement is to invoke BPEL process on receipt of an email.
    I have configured the UMS email driver and setup the incoming server settings.
    When a mail is sent to the configured email address, I can see that the email is received successfully in the soa server logs.
    The problem i'm facing is probably with the UMS adapter settings in the BPEL. Configured the UMS adapter to poll this email address , but this is not happening.
    PFB the .jca file :
    <adapter-config name="AtRemote_UMS_Mail_Receive" adapter="UMS Adapter"
    wsdlLocation="AtRemote_UMS_Mail_Receive.wsdl"
    xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">

    <endpoint-activation portType="ReceiveNotification_ptt"
    operation="ReceiveNotification">

    <property name="DeliveryType" value="Email"/>
    <property name="To" value="[email protected]"/>
    </activation-spec>
    </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>
    Any pointers on thiswould be of great help.

    follow the steps the send email ( handheld device )
    1) install the scheduler schema required, either through RCU. the scripts are available at
    FUSION HOME/ .. /bifoundation\OracleBISchedulerComponent\coreapplication_obisch1\schema
    2) in fusion enterprise manager -> Business Intelligence -> deployment -> scheduler
    configure the database name, schema, username etc.,
    3) configure the smtp server name and port in config file
    instances\instance1\config\OracleBISchedulerComponent\coreapplication_obisch1
    instanceconfig.xml
    4) fusion enterprise manager -> Business Intelligence -> capacity management -> restart the scheduler
    5) then create an analysis -> then create an agant ( schedule ).. enter all the details like receipts, attachment etc., and save the analysis, agent
    6) open the job schedular using username, password.. you will find the agent ( your created is submitted )..
    7) once job is completed... u will receive the email as expected.

  • ODI 11g Agents using OPMN in Windows 2008 R2

    Hello,
    Has anyone tried installing ODI agents in 11g using "odi_opmn_addagent.bat" script?
    If yes, then please share some pointers.
    We are able to start agents using 'agent.bat' script and it serves the purpose.
    Instead of keeping a cmd window open for agent, we want to install that as an opmn service.
    ODI 11g Install guide talks about opmn agents in Appendix I section.

  • OdiStartScen always using "OracleDIAgent" physical agent (ODI-17554)

    Hi. I received an ODI package (A) which contains an invocation to other ODI package (B) through an OdiStartScen call in the flow diagram.
    The OdiStartScen call doesn't set the context nor the agent codes (just set the scene name, the version as -1 and the invocation mode as asynchronous).
    In my topology, I have three physical agents: OracleDIAgent (for "Production" context), OracleDIAgent_T (for "Test" context) and OracleDIAgent_D (for "Development" context). I have just one logical agent which choose between the physical ones through the context distribution previously described.
    If I execute the "parent" package (A), it doesn't matter if a choose whatever context (for example, "Development" or "Test"), the OdiStartScen call to package (B) always is routed to the "OracleDIAgent" physical agent (the "Production" one).
    Moreover, if I delete all my agents (specially "OracleDIAgent"), create just the ones which correspond to "Development" (the physical OracleDIAgent_D and the logical one) and execute the "parent" package, I receive the following error when the execution reaches the OdiStartScen call:
    ODI-1426: Agent OracleDIAgent is not defined in the topology for the master repository.
    Caused By: com.sunopsis.core.SnpsInexistantObjectException: ODI-17554: Agent "OracleDIAgent" does not exist.
    I'm confused.
    Any help in clarifying this behaviour would be much appreciated.
    Notes:
    - the agent which first receive the execution order (for package A) is an Java EE Agent (WebLogic 11g)
    - the project comes from 11.1.1.5 and now is deployed on a 11.1.1.6 through export/import.
    Thanks,
    Esteban

    Hi Phanikanth, actdi, thank you for your answers.
    It seem the cause is one missing step in the Java EE Agent WebLogic domain creation. According the "Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Data Integrator" [1], the default Java EE agent created from the static WebLogic template is called "OracleDIAgent"; if you want to use another name, you have to create a new template from ODI Studio and use it to create the Java EE Agent domain. In our case, all the Java EE Agents were created using the default template.

  • Upgrade agents from OEM 10.2.0.5 from 12c not using Upgrade Console

    Hi,
    As we have to upgrade more than 100 agents from OEM 10.2.0.5 to OEM 12.1.0.3, don't have oracle account passwords (OEM 10g agents are runing as the oracle accout), and PAM authentification is not working for our environnement (SR open) we want to know if there is a workaround for upgrading agents and not using the upgrade console.
    Regards,
    Nicolas

    Hi, the response from the support is upgrading all our agents to 11g and then upgrading to 12c it seems a bit complicated isn't it (more than 100 agents to migrate) ?
    And as the migrate from 10g to 12c is nothing more than many automated actions I can believe that it can't be done manualy (just the install and configure agants).
    Regards,
    Nicolas

    Now I want to monitor the DATABASE running on HOST dbhost01,dbhost02. What is the port i need to get opened on these DB SERVERS, which can talk to oms server.
    I need to specify this during agent installation.
    Also, we have existing 10g set up running. Can i use the smae PORT for agent for 11g as well ??

    No you cannot use the same port, unless you have multiple NIC's and you set the listenOnAllNIC's parameter to false.
    Which database are you talking about and where is it, is it on the OMR and is it on the same server as the OMS ?
    When you monitor a database the OMS talks to an agent using HTTPS installed on the DB Server using whichever port you choose for the agent at the time of installation which by default is 3872. When you visit an database home page in EM11g or EM12c it establishes a direct connection from the OMS to the database using the database listener port (default 1521), or preferred connection string set in the target properties.
    Cheers

  • Fusion Middleware Provisioning Deployment Procedure - Failing

    Hi,
    I have been trying to run the Fusion Middleware Provisioning (version 4.1) deployment procedure by choosing the existing installation as Fusion Middleware Home.
    Going through the logs, the perl script (applyclone.pl) is unable to create the destination directory. However, I am unable to find the cause for it. Also, the directive "Create FMW Clone Archive" generates the following log - with error "Oracle home is not cloneable".
    Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
    Below are details :
    OEM version 11g installed on Linux box.
    Source Machine - Windows, Agent version 11g
    Target Machine - Windows, Agent version 11g
