Agent running but host unavailable in grid control

hi,
well yet another question, am having a bad day with grid control.
I have pushed an agent out to server xxx and the agent is now monitored through grid control however, the host remains unavailable. I have done agentca -d and -f, the agent is secure. Can anyone help out?

hi,
yes emctl status show everything is fine. Other targets have shown up in GC successfully.
At present I cannot find an emoms.trc file. I will post back if I can work out where it is.

  • Agent installed.. but not visible in Grid Control

    Hello guys,
i have installed a new Oracle Grid Control (OMS with new database/repository) and upgraded it to 10.2.0.4.
After that i have installed a Oracle Grid control agent 10.2.0.4 agent on a host and configured it.. but the host is not visible in the Oracle Grid control.
The agent itself seems to work.
UPDATE: The problem is solved.. it was described in metalinknote #389528.1... the problem was that after the upgrade to 10.2.0.4 the secure configuration on the OMS was corrupted.
    Regards
    Stefan

I got the same error and as mentioned on the metalink note I fixed the problem.
however, on target tab of EM if I search clicking on the button ADD it is still dont finding the agent on the another host.
    everythin seems to be ok....
    any tips friends ?

  • How to add new host to 11g grid control

I have install silently oem agent 11g in a solaris system. The installation was successful and agent is up and running.
But the thing is I can't add this client and its database in my OEM Grid Control interface. When I try to add the target it shows the bellow error
    Information
You cannot add a host target from Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
To add a host target, install the Oracle Management Agent on the host computer you want to manage. When the Management Agent begins communicating with the Oracle Management Service, the Management Agent target and the Host target will appear in the list of targets.
My Question is how i can the target's agent can communicate with OMS agent? and How this target can be incorporated?

    Hi,
the host and agent targets should show up right after installation of the agent, if securing was successful. I assume the error happened somewhere there.
Can you please paste the output of following command:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl status agent
where ORACLE_HOME is set to your newly installed agent?
Also, please check if you see any errors in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log/emagent.log and emagent.trc about communication between the agent and your OMS.
    Best regards,
    Robert

Agent is up and running. I was getting Metrics "Current Open Cursors Count" error. After increasing the open_cursor parameter, I got rid of that error, restarted the agent, but still the database size is unavailable.

  • OMS unable to reach host in 10g grid control

    Greetings Gurus:
I installed oracle 10g grid control r2 and agent on a windows xp machine. on another windows xp machine i installed the agent. i am able to see the host in grid control on the machine with the grid control installed but cannot see the remote machine with only the agent installed. i have reloaded and uploaded, started and stopped the agent using emctl and opmnctl without any issues(this is on the remote machine) but still cannot see the remote host. when i try to secure the agent on the remote machine i get the following:
Requesting an HTTPS Upload URL from the OMS...   Failed.
The OMS is not set up for Enterprise Manager Security.
I am fairly new at using grid control and standby database and have had a torrid time trying to fix this problem. your assistance would be greatly appreciated

    *1. Stop dbconsole*
    emctl stop agent
    OR
    emctl stop dbconsole
    *2. Secure it*
    emctl secure dbconsole sysman_pwd agent_reg_pwd
    *3. Start dbconsole*
    emctl start dbconsole
*4. After some time when the dbconsole starts check the status*

  • Agent ok but host not available

    Hello All,
I've reconfigured my agent by following article 413228.1, i.e. clearstate agent, and cleaning up the files before restarting. My agent is now up and running but i do not see the host on which the agent is running. I've tried everything and can only think of uninstalling and reinstalling the agent.
I can see my databases on that host but i can't not see the host as a target. Has anyone experienced this? In other words, i can't to a refresh host..I can run upload agent fine from the server.
    Thanks.

Yes host was viewable to OMS..weird thing is that it was known to OMS as a different name. For instance, the hostname is hostA but in OMS, it used to be known as hostB. There was a hosts file entry with hostB= IP address of host A. This was put in place so that the application can work.
Since then, we've cleaned up the hosts file but the hostB entry remains! Where does OMS get the machine name of the server from? I've looked everywhere in the config files and all have the entry hostA not hostB.

  • Version of agents that can be deployed for grid control 10.1.0.2 on Win2k

We have the 10.1.0.2 grid control installed on a AIX 5.2 server.
We would like to manage targets residing on windows 2000 platforms with this grid control installation.
I would like to understand which version of agent should we be installing on the windows platforms, for them to be managed by the grid control. Does the version of the agent have to be the same as the grid control installation?

Thanks for the update. I checked the other thread, but my question was more about exact 10g versions of the agent and the grid console.
I want to know if a 10.1.0.4 or 10.1.0.3 agent will be able to talk to a 10.1.0.2 grid console.
I had one more question about the downloadable 10g agent for Windows 2000. As of now under http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html
I see the downloadable agent only for Windows NT. Does this work for Windows 2000 as well.
I would appreciate if anyone could throw a light on this.

  • How do you change Host Domain in Grid Control (OMS)

    Background:
Grid control is all installed on one server (AGENT, REPOSITORY, and OMS).
Beside reintalling Grid Control, is there another method of changing the host domain in OMS?

Recreate the Grid Control repository, update required config files.

  • Suppress database/listener/agent unreachable if host unavailable

    Hi,
When a host becomes unavailable due to network issues we receive a deluge of agent/database/listener/host unreachable notifications. Is there a clean way to make sure that when a host is unreachable via ping for example other unreachable target notifications are suppressed?
Thanks for any help in advance

  • Cannnot remove host target in Grid Control 10.2

    Chaps,
I'm trying to remove a agent discovered in grid. I've done:
    1) agent is running
    2) removed all database targets, listeners etc discovered in grid
    3) shutdown agent
    4) tried removing the host from either the hosts or all targets page, but the remove just hangs for ages and then comes up with:
"No Response from Application Web Server"
Grid is running ok as far as I can tell.
Anyone with any advice before I raise yet another SR?
    Thanks,
    Bazza

Sorry too lazy to search!! Apologies.
In the end I did (on oracle support advice):
    exec mgmt_admin.delete_target ('<name o/t target>','<type o/t target>',0,0,1);
    exec mgmt_admin.cleanup_agent('<name o/t agent>');
And that appears to have done the trick. Was that your script?
Neither script took long to run.
    Thanks,
    Bazza

  • Grid control agent for Solaris 10 x86-64

Are there any estimated release dates for a Solaris 10 x86-64 version of the grid control agent?

This is what I get from the SR...
"Date of availability for the Oracle Management Agent on Sun x64 Solaris 10 is Planned, but not yet available. Estimated date of release has not yet been disclosed. Sorry, there is no further information."
So it's possible to run a database on Solaris 10 x86-64 but there's no grid control agent. Lovely.

  • Where can I download the agent for 11g database for 10.2.0.4 grid control?

where can I download the agent for 11g database for 10.2.0.4 grid control? i can't find the link.

I don't think there is one yet, but you can use Grid Control 10gR4 to monitor a 11g database. Please refer the certification matrix in Note 412431.1 Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Checker

  • Unable to see database in Grid Control

I installed Grid Control 10g and started both OMS service and agent. I also installed another agent on a different host. When I run macux3:1830/emd/main (this is where I installed the Grid Control) and macux4:1830/emd/main (this is where my production database is running), I am getting
    EMAgent10.1.0.2.0
    Congratulations, EMAgent is working!
But when I try to click on the Targets tab in Grid Control and from Targets tab click on the Database tab, I am not seeing my production database.
Would you please let me know If I am missing something here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mustafa

    Mustafa,
check the agent home page, starting from the Grid Control homepage it is to be found under Management System ==> Management Services and Repository ==> Agents . On the Agents page you should see your installed agents, hopefully up and running. If you click on a agent tab, immediately the agent tries to communicate with the OMS.
If the communication is successfully established, a list of all observerd targets, including databases , is shown. If all this happens, on principle the communication works.
Additionally, check the account status of dbsnmp and sysman, they must be unlocked.
select username,account_status from dba_users where username in ('DBSNMP','SYSMAN'); must result in
    USERNAME ACCOUNT_STATUS
    DBSNMP OPEN
    SYSMAN OPEN
Normally the status should be open, if necessary you have to change it:
    alter user <username> account unlock;
