  • Managing Multiple SunFires on an agent system.

    Greetings,
In a previous lifetime, I managed one 6800 from the SunMC server, but now, I am trying to manage multiple 6800's from an agent system. To give you an idea, I have the SunMC server that can communicate with a SunMC agent system that has a private network to the system controllers. If I add one Sunfire, I am able to look at it on the SunMC console. However, when I go through the drama of adding multiple system controllers on the agent system, things go pear shaped. I do an es-platform -a system controller a, b, c ,etc, etc. I then do the es-setup.sh -I a, b, c (in the right directory) , then do the es-start -y a, b, c, etc. etc..
When I add the platform to the SunMC server, I don't get a SunFire, I get a simple node. I cant see the platform components (Domains, etc).
I have read the doco but it lacks clear guidelines on how to do this at an agent level. Obviously, if I could attach straight to the system controllers from the SunMC management system, I doubt I would have these problems. Also at the agent level, it seems to lack some abilities, such as DR I think..
Should I keep mucking about with this agent idea or convince our network people to let me change the network so I have direct access to the system controllers from the SunMC server and to hell with those agents.
Or have I simply done something stupid?
    Regards
    Stephen

Good to hear its work'in. Were you using this doc as a reference?
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-3626
.. change that 817-3626 to 816-7381 .. and you are out of date.
IMHO, there should always be a static link to the latest.
Currently the web site default for SunMC docs takes you to 3.5 docs:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/810.2
The 3.5 Update 1 list below is newer and more complete:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/810.3
and has the bits from the latest collections.
Might as well note the remaining repos too, though there is not much there beyond release notes and docs on specific functionality added in those releases (Solaris 10 support and SCM):
    810.5 (3.5 Update 1a Release Notes - Solaris 10)
    810.6 (3.5 Update 1b Release Notes - SCM)
    810.4 (Upcoming 3.6 doc placeholder)

  • SMD ?? Unknown Agent System

    Hello there,
I have properly installed SMD on Solman40, Agent and Wily on Portal site.
    After running/starting  /usr/sap/SMD/J98/SMDAgent/smdagent.sh
The name Portal system is visible under http://smdserver:port/smd -> managed systems, but with question mart (?) and message:
The managed hosts are unknown in landscape definition. Please make sure to define and publish your solution from Solution Manager (SMSY)
But I already have ave defined Portal system as "Portal Server" in SMSY
Trying to transport the datas of Portal Server into SMD via SMDIAG_WIZARD, I see none of host defined for Portal Sever.
If I try another system with Abap database, hostname ist visible in the nexp step of SMDIAG_WIZARD
    Must it be so ?
Is the monitoring of Systems without Abap (example. Portal) possible only with Wily Introscope ?
Or Have I done something wrong ?
    Thanx..

    Hi,
You need to start your Agent using smdstart.sh and smdstop.sh (located in /usr/sap/SMD/J98/script).
The script, you used is obsolete.
May you check then the Agent is displayed in Agent Administration page?
    Thanks,
    Frederic
PS: there is doucumentation under service.sap.com/solutionmanager -> Release 4.0 -> Diagnostics setup as of SPXX.

  • Mobile Agents System

    Hi,
I'm trying to implement a Distributed system for Mobile Agents, but I'm new in Distributed Computing, Could any one suggest a book/tutorial/desing pattern for developping a Middleware that supports Mobile Agents using RMI??
    thanks.

Hey, I wish I could direct you to a good paper about this, but all I really have is http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aglets which is the starting point I used years ago to do distributed agents. The problem is that they were single-trip agents and not per se `mobile.'
The concept however, is very easily accomplished via RMI through much of the new push for JNDI.

  • NAP Agent - System Health Agent

    Hi !
I'm working on a NAP solution and I am looking for informations about "third party health agent".
I want to know if it is possible to develop a Health Agent by our own or is it just reserve for same of the Microsoft's Partners.
I explain my point, if one of my client use a special Linux distribution in his industrial network, is it possible to create a Health agent which work on this distribution if we use NAP ?
I know that some people have already ask about this subject. A found an other topic but the question is a little different here because I'm talking about Operating Systems.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Looks like there is a way to provide NAP service to non-windows OS clients, please refer to the following blog:
NAP clients for Linux and Macintosh are available
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nap/archive/2008/12/16/nap-clients-for-linux-and-macintosh-are-available.aspx
Microsoft has a Network Access Protection forum, I suggest you refer to the experts there for further support:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserverNAP

  • Deploy agent - system not being monitored

    SCOM 2012 SP1
Have a Windows 2003 server Sp2 that was in a trusted domain.  We removed it from trusted domain and added it into our primary domain.  Everything is working properly on server in primary domain.  Pushed OpsMgr agent to computer and it installed
successfully.  We are seeing in security log success audit of logon/logoff of service account used.  In the OPSMGR event log on server we are seeing event 20070 and 21016.  We then get event 21023 indicating no configuration from Mgt Group.
I can ping, nslookup and utilize all other components install on this server except OpsMgr.  I did this on another server without issue.
I did a repair and issue is still present.
    Ideas?

  • Iphoto crashing the system on Mac OSX 10.8.5

    Hello there,
since I updated my MacBook Pro from 10.6.8 to  OSX 10.8.5, iPhoto brings down my whole system. Starting iPhoto causes the MacBook to crash. Someimes, I can start iPhoto and the crash will occur after a few minutes...very irregular.
Maybe someone can give me a hint...
    Thanks in advance,
    philoTon

    Hi Old Toad,
thanks again for the quick reply!
    Alright, I did the following:
    - I used the user account "guest" and logged into it. Then I opend iPhoto there and worked with it for a while: No problems (although I did´nt work with it for hours, but not one crash!)
That means obviously that the problem is based in my "admin" account somwhere and not a system problem...
    - I downloaded Etrecheck and I did let it run over my system. I posted the result down below...
    - I do not know how to reinstall iPhoto (and only iPhoto) Is there a function "reinstall" or are there downloadable versions? Thanks in advance for clearing that up for me...
    - I don´t think I have thrid party RAM installed: Two times 4GB in the unibody MacBook Pro...
And of course thank you for your continuing help on this matter!
    All the best
    piloTon

  • System slowed down after Mavericks update (10GB RAM)

    Hi,
I have recently updated to Maverics on my mac pro, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 10GB RAM.
When I perform regular tasks it's all normal. Unfortunately I do some much more than that. I use Aperture on a daily basis and it seems to have slowed down a bit. The issue is more apparent when I use Final Cut. I can't have any other design/photography/video software on the background anymore. My computer can't deal with. But it could before Mavericks! It will also complain about not enough memory when rendering...
I understand that kernel task is heavy on the memory and after an EtreCheck I also realised how much memory spotilight is using. I already excluded a lot of items from spotlight, and it's way better, but still, why is my computer so slow?
Please can someone look at my check and tell me if there's anything I can do to boost my system back to it's previous glory?
    thank you

Beware of perceived RAM use. 10.9 uses RAM more efficiently:
About memory management in OSX 10.9 Mavericks
Memory is managed differently, and more efficiently in 10.9.  It is (mostly) unique in the industry, but may become trend.
Let’s start with the basics.  Mechanical disk drives are very slow, with access speeds in the 10s of milliseconds and transfer rates in the 200-400 Mbps range real world.  SSDs are much faster, on the order of a couple of ms access and typically 1200-3000 mbps transfer rates.  RAM is much faster than either, in the nanosecond access and transfer speeds of ~8 Gbps effective (1 GHz x 8 bits/byte).
These are rough numbers for comparison purposes only.
So the goal is to keep as much in RAM as possible. But if you run out of RAM what do you do?
Traditionally you take the least used RAM and write it to a special part of the disk, in a way that you can access it most efficiently - minimizing the disk delays.  This is called a swap file because you swap RAM in and out of it.
10.9 has a new trick:  it compresses RAM using the main processors.  Rather than swapping stuff to disk (disks are slow), it actually uses the processor to compress memory and make, for example, 1 GB of physical RAM hold as much as 1.5GB.  Similar approaches are used to make MP3 files 10x smaller than the real thing - there is redundancy in data and you can take advantage of that.  Apple is making the following calculation: the processors can compress way faster than the disk can swap.  And its also predicting that the processors are often partly idle - waiting for swap files or disk access.  So rather than swap files around, its compresses the files ***in RAM***.
Compression works,.  Tests show that on average it is faster, and that 4GB (i have 4 GB RAM) acts like 5 1/2 - 6GB.  Wow.
So, 10.9 will load up most of your RAM, knowing that it can compress some when it needs to.  So don’t worry too much that it may look like all your RAM is taken - yea, it is, but its OK.
The measures to look at are:
    1. amount compressed. Compression means it has run out of RAM and needs more. As long as compression is low this is fine. In fact this is how 10.9 uses RAM more efficiently than 10.6,7 or 8.  Contrary to common wisdom, it requires LESS RAM than 10.8. The colored indicator tells you who this is going - green (good), yellow( iffy) and red (bad).
    2. amount swapped.  Once it cannot compress any further, or can’t do so efficiently, jot begins old-fashioned swapping.  This is a major slow-down and means you would benefit from more RAM. Tiny amounts are OK.
here's an article by Apple - but on th pre-10.9 memory management techniques....mostly still true, but read on.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1342?viewlocale=en_US
Bottom line - compression makes 10.9 use RAM more efficiently than previous OSX versions.  It also makes the “ram used” indicator less meaningful, and mans you should monitor “compression” .
That said, RAM has always been one of the most cost effective upgrades possible.  People spend too much on new machines and too little on more RAM.
    Hope this helps,
    Grant

  • Ext. System communicating IDoc's with XI

    Hello,
we are trying to connect an EDI-system to XI via the IDoc adapter. We have set up in IDX1 a port (EXTEDI, client 999). We have mapped the client 999 to field MANDT in EDIDC. And set up a Business system that mapps the logical name of the SNDPRN (sender partner) and the Business system. The repository is set-up and the directory. But we get technical problems when connecting the EDI-system wiht XI 3.0. The following error message occurs.

    Kalle

    Hi Karl,
I don't think it is possible to set up the IDOC connection as you intended.
    As to your first question:
I found that the XI IDOC adapter tightly integrated to SAP systems using TRFC. Since you are not using a SAP system this might cause problems.
    As to your second question:
Note if the IDOC is not imported into the IDOC adapter XI will connect to the R/3 system to retrieve it. Again this will cause a problem since you don't use an R/3 system.
    As to your third question:
You don't need to format the IDOC fields HLEVEL etc. When processing the IDOC the segements are matched using the IDOC definition (basic type) imported in the IDOC adapter.
I recommend to find an other form for communication. Does the tool vendor provide an adaptor?
    Best Regards, Harald
