Aggreegate

dear friends
i createdan aggregate, loaded data to info cube and did rollup. The aggregate is active then i created a query on the Infocube and executed it. But I can not see the Usage counter going up. It is still showing as 0 any idea why?

Hi,
I think the aggreagte is not being used. U can check this in the RSRT .
Go to this transaction and Select the Query u want to executs and click on debugg and Execute . A window will pop . In that u select the Aggregates but dont use Cache.Now u run the report u will get to know why it is not being used.

How to know whether a particular query is using the aggregates

hi all....
im very new to this group so plz help me out.....anyway hi to all ....
There are many aggreegates are there but how to know which query is using perticular a?gregates

use query monitor screen RSRT and select the option execute + debug . and u can have the option of checking display aggreagates for that query!

Selective deletion for particler cube and rebuild of aggrigates in Psystem

Hi Friends,
1.In my manage data target screen i have 8 cubes but i want do selective deletion from 1st cube ..how i can do ..?
Im thinking like...IN DETILS column i will select.one data target and then i will go to contents tap and then selective deletion for paricler requst ID...is correct to do selective deletion for particler data target out of 8 cubes..plz tell me
2.in production ...while doing selective deletion ...aggregates are failed...means status is in red color...
now,how can i create or build or rebuild those aggrgates again...please and my qns...

1. technically Yes its ok to do selective deletion of only 1 cube, incase of delta load you will have to do selective reload to only that cube otherwise data for that perticular selection will get doubled in rest of 7 cubes.
Actually depends on situation in which you plan to do so.
2. its possible to aggreegates get affected due t selective deletion.
Just go to manage->rollup tab of cube and rebuild agreegates.

1- i hope i got you right,, u want to populate ur data warehouse without using any tools??
you can do that using database Links "its supportred by oracle", or even you can use SQL loader for oracle too, or to export and import ur data using flat files
2- for incremental approach (CDC) capture data changed, u can put an access date filed in ur source database, and when you select from the source to the destination keep in mind the creteria of that filed

Aggregate Definition :
An aggregate is a materialized, aggregated view of the data in an InfoCube. In an aggregate, the dataset of an InfoCube is saved redundantly and persistently in a consolidated form on the database.
Use
Aggregates allow quick access to InfoCube data during reporting. Similar to database indexes, they serve to improve performance.
An aggregate is made up of the characteristics and navigation attributes that belong to an InfoCube. Characteristics that are not used in the aggregate are compressed.
Each component of an aggregate has to be assigned to a selection type. A selection type indicates the degree of detail to which the data in the underlying InfoCube is aggregated. You can choose one of the following selection types:
All characteristic values ("*"): The data is grouped by all values of the
characteristic or navigation attributes .
Hierarchy level (H): The data is grouped by the hierarchy level node. You can
also store values on the hierarchy levels of an external hierarchy .
Fixed value (F): The data is filtered by a single value .
For each InfoCube, you can set whether the aggregates of the InfoCube are compressed automatically when it is filled with data or after the roll up of data packages (requests).
1. You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the Modeling functional
area. In the InfoProvider tree, navigate to the required InfoCube.
2. In the context menu of the InfoCube, choose Manage.
3. In the lower part of the screen, select the Roll Up tab page.
4. Under the Aggregates group header, set the corresponding indicator in
the Compress After Roll Up field.
Standard Aggregation : This means how the key figure is going to be summarized normally for a specific set of characteristics .
Eg : Quantity across all the purchase items for a purchase Order
Exceptional Aggregation : You define how the aggregation should happen basing on a particular characteristic ( Usually time characteristic ) .
Eg : head count ( No of Employees ) in a organisation ..--> this should not be summarized on a daily basis..instead this should give a final value at the end of the month .
Aggregation is basically for keyfigures .

There are two tools that are used to analyze which aggregate is suitable for which navigation step.
You optimize the start screen of a query with the query Monitor (transaction RSRT) if you execute the function Execute + Debug.
With the trace tool (transaction RSRTRACE) you can draw several navigation steps, and process them again using the function DB Debugging (exact path: Transaction RSRTRACE > Goto > User Logs or All Logs > double-click on the log you want > DB Debugging).

By refering the Statistical data and comparing the Proposed Aggregates we can create the aggregates.

Data doesnt come through in the cube

Hi all,
I loaded flat file in the cube, the data not in the cube but the data in PSA....
cube is normal cube, doesnt have aggreegates...just normal cube...
Please give me step by step...where do i look what should i do...
am new to bw

Am using BW 3.5 version, in the update tab, i did like this
Full update
Always update data, even if no master data exists for the data
and
error handling i selected, valid records updata, reporting possible (request green)
terminate after no errors: 9,999,999
in the processing tab,
PSA and Data tagets in parallel (package by package)
even i deleted request and loaded data several times but no use
still data not in the cube but in PSA
Please help me out from this problem
