Aggregate device using digital out and line out

I am trying to create an aggregate device using the digital out and the line out built into the mac pro. However, I only get sound from the device marked as the clock. Is it possible to aggregate these two outputs? or are they not compatible?

Hi CristianEC,
i think the error number was -200022, because the PFI lines for the two PWM counter look all your digital ports.
You can see this if you look on into the pinout for your device. You need an device with some additional digital ports.

  • GX740 - Anyone get two TRUE separate audio streams out Headphones and LINE OUT?

Hoping for an update on this. I asked MSI via their support section and wow... what a FAIL that was:
    Quote
Do you have new specific drivers that allow TRUE 4 channel output? 2 out the headphones and 2 separate out the LINE OUT as implied by the design? I've tried everything and it doesn't work.
    I've tried ASIO4YOU drivers - doesn't work.
I've tried every RealTek driver out there - nothing.
Yes, I've set the RealTek driver to do multiple out but it sends the audio out the HDMI port, NOT THE LINE!
I know this can be done cause you can set the REALTEK for 7.1 and you get separate streams out the headphones and line-out ports!
Please - you've sold a laptop with "Headphone Out" and "Line Out" yet it fails to actually do that - NEW DRIVERS PLEASE?

    Dear Customer,
Please go to msi global website to download the audio driver, then install it.
    audio driver:
    http://www.msi.com/service/download/nbdriver-15227.html
Needless to say, that did nothing. In fact, I can't understand how I could of received such an answer given it made no sense what-so-ever. Download the driver that came with it? One that's now almost a year old?
Regardless... I've tried that one. I've tried the latest RealTek drivers. I've tried a multitude of ASIO drivers. NOTHING WORKS. Yes, I've set the RealTek to send TWO SEPARATE STREAMS. That does NOTHING. The only thing I've been able to ascertain is that you can send one stream out the headphone/line out (same thing) AND one out the HD port which is useless.
Here's the pain in the ass: If you go to the RealTek setup and change it to 7.1 and hit TEST, you DO hear separate output out the HEADPHONE JACK and the THIRD Audio Out jack which is the side fills so I know this laptop CAN spit audio out two separate outputs sitting on the side of the computer.
Why do I want to do this:
Simple. I'm lugging around an external audio interface for DJing and it's a pain. I'd rather just tap the headphones out for, well, headphones and send the line out or that third audio output to the DJ mixer. Done! I've tried MIXMEISTER, VIRTUAL DJ, NOTHING WORKS! I can select various strangely named outputs insinuating speaker out, speaker out + 1, etc... but no... it doesn't work at all...
Sooooooooo... has ANYONE been able to get this to work? I'd love to know...

Yea Stu... been through this part... Playback devices show the typical:
    1. Speakers (Realtek) -> Plays on ext. speakers but sounds like just treble. Headphone Out plays this stream.
    2. RealTek HD Audio 2nd output -> Plays on ext. speakers but sounds like bass/mids. No treble. NO OUTPUT PLAYS THIS. Plug anything in and sound from the speakers just shuts off
    3. Realtek HDMI Output (Not selectable)
    4. Realtek Digital Output (Not selectable)
So yea, it seems right out of the box there is a problem with the sound on this unit. Choosing speakers sounds like crap (no mid/bass) and choosing HD Audio 2nd output sounds like crap (all mid/bass no treble).
There is no discrete dual audio out the jacks.
HOWEVER - Go choose 7.1 from the realtek setup and do a test. Well what do you know, DISCRETE 2ND AUDIO OUTPUT OUT THE HEADPHONE JACK AND THE 3RD OUTPUT JACK OF THE 4 IN A ROW. This PROVES you can have two discrete stereo audio streams coming out the output jacks. Just need someone to write the driver for it.
Here's the thing. This laptop HAS 4 1/8" JACKS. SEE:
Here's what the manual says about the output jacks:

  • CPU whine with DVI and line out/DVI removed whine not in line out?

I have noticed that when using headphones or the line out alone I do not hear the whine noise. The whine noise is still active, in other words, I can still hear it coming from the keyboard. But, it is not transferred through the line out or headphone jack. THIS IS BEFORE I DO ANY TRICKS: mirror widget etc.
But, if I plug in the DVI adaptor and utilize the line out/headphone jack, the noise now appears. This means if I am running my laptop to do a presnetation, the noise will appear through the sound system. However, if I don't use my laptop for video and use it for audio only, the noise is not THERE!
Of course, I can use the tricks and it will eliminate it. But this leads me to believe that something is related? The DVI connection with the entire mother board....or something. Any comments? Please help

I agree. I never use line in/out of the computer for professional work. I had PCI expansion chassis doing that type of work when using the PowerBook, and am eagerly awaiting Magma's upgrades which will come soon per their emails. However, I do use my portable computer to teach and to present research, at which point lugging a full blown professional system is not an option. In some cases, it would be nice to use the line out while presenting, without having to carry additional equipment.
In any case, the problem does exist and is one that shouldn't exist. The fact that there are workarounds does not "fix" the problem or for that matter acknowledges it. Apple should acknowledge the problem and replace the faulty parts in the machines affected. I bet that if it was the other way around, say plugging something in the headphone jack would affect the screen resolution, people would be all over the place, and the solution could not possibly be, "just hook an external monitor and it will work fine".
In the meantime, I am just trying to find out if this is a widespread issue or not to see if it makes sense to return the machine, with which I am absolutely happy otherwise even with the other problems reported.

  • Weird Battery Usage Using the Dock's Line-Out

I have noticed something particularly weird about using my iPod w/the dock's line-out. (I have the original 60GB photo).
When I use the dock's line-out to connect to my home stereo via an RCA cable, I get roughly 3 hours of continuous play on a full charge before the battery meter changes decreases.
But when I use the dock's line-out to connect to my PC computer speakers via an RCA cable (at work), I get roughly 2 hours of continuous play on a full charge before the battery meter changes decreases.
Anyone have any ideas what may be causing the shorter battery life while listening via PC speakers?
    Lisa

Hi Carl - thanks for the reply. I consistently get 15 hours of continuous play from my battery. Yep, the battery & meter are properly calibrated (in fact, I'm pretty anal about that!) I'm not sure I'm getting less battery life, per se, I just find it interesting that I get 2 different readings from using the line-out in 2 different configurations. I'm assuming that maybe the PC speakers are using more power? I'm not electrically-inclined, and maybe I'm just going on a wild goose chase!

Why can't GB let me use 'electric guitar' option when using Nio 2/4 interface - I have to use real instrument and miss out on all the effects. Is this normal for all interfaces? The Nio reads hte guitar but GB doesn't....

Usually effects packages are AU plugins that would have no effect on track selection. Interfaces should have no control over what kind of track you can select. I really think something else is going on her maybe something you overlooked.
Did you choose the input channel in the track info pane. Try both channel 1 mono or channel 2 mono. Make sure the track is record enabled.

  • IN,OUT and IN OUT Parameter Types

    Dear All,
    as per some book,
IN parameter uses Call by Reference
and OUT and IN OUT Uses Call by Value
we can use NOCOPY for Making OUT and IN OUT Call by Reference.
    my small doubt is
when u r passing a reference of a Variable how oracle takes care that only IN Parameter are not allowed to change (in c and c++ we can say *para to access the variables) ,
i mean in case i use NOCOPY all parameter type are using CALL BY REFERENCE then how the "No Modify" is forced in case of IN Parameter.
    Thanks for Reading Request.
    Raj.

The pl/sql compiler will simply not allow you to have a stmt that assigns something to an "IN" parameter. It can fully be enforced at compile time.

  • "Formal OUT and IN OUT parameters can be returned in any order"

    Hi,
From the PL/SQL Language Reference (11.2):
Formal OUT and IN OUT parameters can be returned in any order. In this example, the final values of x and y are undefined:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p (x OUT INTEGER, y OUT INTEGER) AS
    BEGIN
    x := 17; y := 93;
    END;
What does this mean?  How are the values of x and y in any doubt here? I tested it and x and y were set to 17 and 93 respectively.
    Thanks in advance,

Right, even though it is quite logical OUT parameters are assigned in parameter number order (which is what Oracle is using in 10G & 11G - can't test on older versions), I didn't see it in documentation, so we can't assume it.

  • DEFAULT values for OUT and IN/OUT parameters in PL/SQL

Why are OUT and IN OUT parameters not allowed to have DEFAULT values assigned to them? Or is there a way around this?
    thank u

For IN parameters this makes sense. For OUT parameters... hm... when you don't get anything out you also don't need a default value. I think the cases where you want to overload can't be compared with default values.
For IN a default value would be like:
If I don't add this parameter it should use 'DEFAULT' as INPUT value.
    For an out parameter:
If I don't use a variable for this parameter the output value should be 'DEFAULT'.
and written into nirvana? it does not make sense to say I output something but I don't output something.

  • How to use Digital Signature and PKI in SharePoint Server 2013

    Dear Expert,
My company will plan to use Digital Signature and PKI document in SharEPoint Server 2013.
Can you guide me what's the concept and how to implement and develop?
    Please suggestion.
    BR,

    Hi BR,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to use Digital Signature and PKI in SharePoint Server 2013.
You can use digital signatures in forms ,then use these forms in you SharePoint site.
In InfoPath form ,you can change the form to allow signature here: File>Info>Advanced form options >Digital Signatures .You can choose to sign the whole form or a field .
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0ed54d57-d67d-41cd-bd1b-9e5a4be10d0c/use-of-digital-signature-in-sharepoint-2010?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious
Or you can use any tools such as the ADSS Connector for SharePoint which allows enterprise users to "click and sign" on a document in SharePoint.

  • 2009 Mac Pro no audio out from Line Out and/or Digital Out.

Hey guys, I recently bought a new tv which has an optical input and thought I'd buy an optical cable to connect it to my Mac Pro's (4.1 model 2009 I believe) digital out port which I have never used before .
The issue I'm facing since is that I can't get out from my mac pro to my tv. I also bought a cable to direct sound from my mac pro's line out, to my tv's red/white stero audio ports. That didn't work either.
When I select Digital out as the default audio output in Sound preferences the OS says that there are not default audio controls for that device and the sound icon in the menu bar is greyed out while when I switch to line out output I can control volume but no audio is coming from my TV.
I've been searching on forums and didn't find any relevant answer so if someone knows what may cause this that'd be really helpful.
*ALSO: I've got windows 8 instaleld on my mac pro as well. The digital out doesn't work there as well although the line out does send sound to the TV.
** I also have soundflower installed and perian although I don't think any of them would mess things up like that.
Do you think this is a problem with my Mac or is this a common Mavericks issue (sorry forgot to mention I'm on 10.9.2)
    Many Thanks,
    Thanos.

When I select Digital out as the default audio output in Sound preferences the OS says that there are not default audio controls for that device and the sound icon in the menu bar is greyed out
That's normal.  Is the correct audio input selected on the TV?

  • Simultaneous audio over HDMI and line out optical

Anyone know if this is possible on the new mini?
I currently use an AppleTV with HDMI to TV and optical digital to my older surround processor which does not accept HDMI.
AppleTV is useful in that it outputs audio simultaneously over all audio connections - I suspect new Mac Mini might only allow single audio output at a time.

...I assume by saying this you're implying you can deliver video over HDMI but audio over toslink through the line out i.e. audio out to non-HDMI destinations is not automatically disabled by an active HDMI connection...
Correct. You choose your audio output in the sound control panel (or Option-click on the sound icon in toolbar).
    That's ideal then really.
...- that would then allow HDMI video to TV, toslink to AV processor, and analogue audio from AV processor to TV analogue audio in to use when you only need the audio via TV speakers...
I doubt the TV will take an analog audio in at the same time as HDMI video in. It likely only accepts analog audio on inputs that are also analog for video (component, s-video, composite).
You're right, unlilely to be configurable for HDMI, there might be the odd set that allowed something like this but in general most wouldn't.
...A small utility/script might be feasible to toggle between the two on the Mini...
    Yes, entirely possible.
Another option would be to do what I do: Disable the TV speakers and use the receiver for all sound. Since TV speakers suck, this is a great option. I haven't used built-in TV speakers for at least 15 years.
I generally do that too, just sometimes for late night listening when others are in bed I switch to the TV speakers, but actually it'd be far easier with no TV audio as you'd not run into those instances when both TV and hi-fi are outputting and messing up the audio effect entirely.

  • IPod Dock - Charge only and line out when iTunes not open

Hi I just got an iPod dock which is connected both to my computer via USB and my sound system via the line out.
Here is what I want to happen. Come back from college listening to iPod, remove headphones place into dock and let the music play through my sound system. Then when I need to update my iPod open iTunes and start autosync. Is this possible with out unplugging my USB cable and replugging it in.
So far what happens is the second I dock the iPod it goes to Do not diconnect and all music stops. I changed all the settings in the ipod preferences like open itunes when connected, automatically sync, use as disk drive. Using different combinations and also disabled the drive from device manager but then when I open iTunes it doesnt sync.
Is there anything I can do?

Mine just did the same thing, try holding the center and the menu buttons at the same time it worked for mine.

  • Audigy 2 ZS | Separate Line out 1 (headphones) and Line out 2 (speakers)?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to Setup a 4 speaker setup, having headphones in Line out 1 and my stereo speakers in Line out 2, and using something like Virtual Audio Cable to reroute audio from Teamspeak to my headphones, and everything else to my speakers? I don't have a front headphones panel. I have attempted to reroute audio but it doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong or is there a different way?
    Thank You

  • Headphone socket and line-out probl

Hey I've got a Creative Jukebox 3 and over the past few months the headphone socket has stopped working properly, I can only hear through one side. I got past this by using my line-out to listen instead but that has also done the same thing, only difference is it is the opposite headphone I can't hear out of! :smileyvery-happy: I've tried changing headphones so it's definitely the player. Any ideas? I'm probably going to buy a new one seeing as it is two years old now but I would like to get the old one working again.
    Cheers!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Mac Pros, which your profile says you have use a Toslink connector. This means for certain DTS sound systems, you can get up to 5 channels of independent audio that run simultaneously. If you just use standard RCA audio connectors, unfortunately you are stuck with a single stereo channel per port that can be used only on that port at a time. It might be time to consider a multichannel audio system that works with your Toslink connector. Logitech makes a few of them.
