Aggregator TOC

In Captivate 6, can the table of contents in an Aggregator project be collapsed and expanded?

As Aditya hints, pretty much every Aggregator setting is inherited from the settings of the first published SWF you add to the Aggregator project. If a given setting is not effected by the first imported SWF or is not directly settable in the Aggregator interface, then it's simply not supported (i.e. SCORM settings, not supported at all).

  • Aggregator – TOC stretching issues

    Hi all,
I have four captivate projects that I’m loading via the Aggregator. (master4agtest, agtestPart1, agtestPart2, agtestPart3). When I publish the aggregator project as a swf or a Windows executable the following happens:
The TOC stretches vertically past the bottom of the swf files.
With the swf output files, I noticed that when I open each htm file separately they look  like I expect them to look, that is, the bottom of the TOC is flush with the playbar. When I open the aggregated htm file, I get what you see above.
Is there a way to prevent the TOC from stretching in the aggregated htm file? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Why does it do this?
I’m using Captivate 5.0.1.624 on Windows XP. I’ll be happy to post/share files if it will help!
    Thanks,
    PharmaGirl

I never really used the Aggregator myself, but I did a search here on the forums and it's pretty clear that you can't do anything at all to modify the way the aggregator works.
Apparantly it's not possible to remove the aggregator TOC and it's not possible to have the expander icon or make the TOC smaller.

How do I remove the aggregator TOC? How do I lessen the real estate used up by the aggregator TOC?  How do I have the expander icon function in an aggregator project?  I know aggregator has limits but any ideas would help

  • How to hide the duration on the Aggregator TOC?

I used the Aggregator to link multiple projects together as once course. I know that you can use a widget to hide the duration if you are using the Captivate TOC. I want to know if there is a way to hide the duration shown on the TOC created by the Aggregator.
    Thanks.

  • Aggregator TOC loads with extended header/footers

I created an .exe using the CP6 aggregator with the TOC size of the Master movie at the default 250. The TOC of the aggregated project loaded normally when I ran the .exe.  However, when I increased the TOC size of the Master movie to 350, the header and footer of the TOC extend themselves into the viewing area while the chapters are loading. (You can see them in the whitespace in the image below.) It's only for a brief moment but looks unprofessional and I would like to figure out how to stop it from happening. (I cannot decrease the TOC width as I need the 350 to properly display the chapter titles.)  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Thanks for reporting the issue. This is a bug in Captivate 6, Please file it in the captivate wish form so that we can fix it in the later versions of captivate.

  • How do I hide the duration on the TOC in an Aggregator project.

Hi I installed the widget to hide the duration on the TOC in my Adobe Captivate 5 project and it worked great.  However when I combine the Flash files in an Aggregator project it no longer works and the duration is showing at the bottom of the Aggregator TOC.  I have the TOC set to be the same as my first Flash in the project which doesn't show the duration because of the widget.

I think you'll find this widget was not originally designed to work with the Aggregator.  Go back to the widget developer and ask if he has a version that does work with Aggregator.

  • Playbar Navigation between Modules

I have set up an Aggregator Project with Captivate 5.5, where I have linked up several Modules/SWFs.
When I click the Next Button at the Playbar, I can only jump to the next slide within a Module, but not to the next one.  This makes it look like an error.
Is there a way to navigate with the playbar also between Modules?

This is actually the way that Aggregated projects work.  You need to use the aggregated TOC to jump into a different module.
The Next button on the playbar will stop working once you reach the final slide of each module.  Your Project End settings for each published module should be to Stop Project (not Close Project).  Then you will find that when the final slide is finished, the aggregator will automatically continue on to load the next module, and then the Next button will again work to allow you to continue navigating.

  • Is there a way to remove the .swf extension from the TOC entries in an aggregator project?

I've created a Captivate 5 aggregator project that includes swf outputs which were also published using Captivate 5. The TOC entries in the aggregator project all show the published file name followed by the .swf extension (see attached image). Is there a way to hide the .swf extension in the TOC entries?

Yes, a colleague of mine was able to figure it out. Just double-click the chapter title in the .aggr project. It places it into edit mode and allows you to remove the ".swf" extension as well as make any other changes to the name that you want. It's so easy now that we know how to do it, but it was tricky to figure out since the chapter list does not appear editable at first.

  • How can we align TOC and Navigation bar for Captivate 4 Aggregator Project?

    Hi,
Is there any way we can align the bottom of TOC and Navigation bar of Captivate 4 Aggregator project. Or can we give a background color so that they don't look like different entities.
    Thanks,
    Janhavi

I had this issue too.  What I discovered was that some of the slides in one of my presentations were off the screen.  Some because I had dropped pictures onto a blank slide, and others because I switched background images on recorded slides and didn't merge the images into the existing background.  After fixing those issues and republishing, I put the revised .swf into the aggregator and it worked.

  • Cp5 - TOC ticks don't always work in aggregated file

    Hi all
Our courses comprise of several projects combined using the aggregator, and have reporting turned on for the button that appears on the last slide of each project. The button is configured to open the next project. With the reporting turned on the last button on the last slide, the tick does not appear in the table of contents, so it appears that the user has not completed that project in the TOC. To get around this, I have moved the reporting to an earlier button which is fine for this project, but I am annoyed that it has to be done this way.
I suppose another way would be to add a slide after the last slide and make it .1 second or something, but I don't think it should be this way.
Has anyone come across this, am I missing something or is this just the way it is with Captivate?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Amanda

Items in a TOC only get ticked if all slides in that section were completed, which means that each slide must be played through to the end.  So if you use a button to jump to another slide or project BEFORE the end of the slide then as far as Captivate is concerned, THAT particular slide was not completed.
The TickTOC widget can be used to work around such issues if 100% completion is essential to your needs.

  • ToC in the Aggregator

I have a feeling I already know the answer to this, but is there a way to remove the ToC in the Aggregator?

  • Suppress TOC in Aggregated Project

After banging my head against the CP5 wall for a while, I finally split my 157 page project into 2 halves and now each will publish without errors.  I used Aggregator to glue them back together which worked fine, except for the annoying left hand pane which has suddenly appeared.  I think its the TOC.
Can the TOC be suppressed in the aggregated project?  It doesn't add anyting in this case and just gets in the way.
    Thnaks.

By default, Aggregator uses the TOC from one of the projects it contains to govern the look and feel of the main TOC.
You can elect to Hide the TOC via the Aggregator Publish Settings.
Just tick the option to Hide Table of Contents

  • Hide TOC in aggregator

    Hi,
I wanted to hide the TOC after clicking the topic button in the TOC. Using On Enter: Execute Advanced Actions and the script in it Assign cpCmndTOCVisible with 0 does the trick for the TOC in each swf file. But when placed in an Aggregator project, the action does not happen. Does anyone know how this could work in the aggregated project? Btw, I'm using Captivate 6.

One of the projects in your aggregated set is actually the one that controls the TOC look and feel.  But each separate section of the TOC is actually coming from the module it relates to.  So once you are inside one of the modules, nothing you do there can affect the overall TOC visibility.
Just out of interest, go back to your Aggregator settings and find out which project is the one that controls TOC formatting, then see if executing your Advanced Action when THAT module is playing will have any effect on the main TOC.  That's something I would be interested to know.

  • Cp5 - TOC widgets not working on Aggregated Project

    Hello all
I'm using Cp5 and I have used a fantastic widget that disables the >> to show/hide the TOC and also allows me to use my own TOC button. It works beautifully, however does not work once I aggregate my projects.
Does anyone know of any settings or changes I can make to have the project override the Aggregator settings?
    Thanks so much.
    Regards
    Amanda

The Aggregator normally uses the TOC settings in one fo the movies it contains to govern the look and feel of the main TOC.  You can select which of the movies gets to be the Master Movie, the TOC that overrides all others.  You can elect to override the text information from the top of the master TOC and set TOC heading texts in the Aggregator.
However, throwing a widget into this Aggregator mix can foul things up.  Only if your widget developer specifically allowed for it to be used in an Aggregated project can you expect everything to perform the same way it might in a normal single Captivate module.
So if you know who created this widget, you may need to go back to them and get them to modify it so that it works with Aggregator.

  • TOC Aggregator in CP6 - issue during preload

I have a CP6 project that I have published in Aggregator and it work perfectly other than while its loading the Title area of the TOC jumps sizes while its loading the first couple of swfs.  it then settles down but I can't see any reason that it would do this?  Anything I'm missing?  I will try and paste a couple of screen shots showing what I mean.  its too big on first topc, then too small when second one loads and then fine after the rest appear?

    Hi,
Thanks for reporting the Issue. Can you please add one more module to your aggregator project and see it resolves the issue. This is a bug in Captivate 6. The header and footer width is not adjusted correctly based on the master movies changed TOC width. Please file a bug in captivate wish form so that we can fix this in the future versions of captivate.
    Thanks,
    Nimmy Sukumaran.
