Agilent 34980 17500 Error

Hello,
i have a problem with NISE in TestStand. I'm using TestSTand 3.5, Labview 8.2 ,NISE 2.1 and Max 4.1. The IVICP is 3.0. The device we want to switch is an Agilent 34980A.
With the max we can switch the created route without any problem.
Then we use TestStand and use the same route we get an errror.
I have made some screenshots from the Error and a NI Spy log when we switch with the Max and do the same in Teststand.
We don't know what we should do to repair this error.
best regards

Hi Tumbler,
I would like to ask a few follow-up questions:
I'm assuming you are using the NI Switch Executive Test Panel in MAX to close "Route0".
1.  Is this a correct assumption?
2.  Have you been able to successfully validate your routes and route groups (with the simulated option checked and unchecked)?
3.  Are you simulating via IVI (this would be selected in your Driver Session) or are you toggling actual hardware states?
4.  Which Agilent driver are you using?  There is a generic Agilent driver and one specifically made for use with NI Switch Executive, as shown at the following link:

Thanks!

  • Agilent 1100 syntax error

    Hello.
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place...
I'm trying to hook up an Agilent 1100 system to a computer via ethernet and control it through labview with the ag1100 drivers.
I've managed to get the computer to talk to the system and assign it an IP-address but when I run the pump example VI it returns "Error 10000501 syntax error".
I haven't been able to find and documentation about this error code and since it's a proprietary driver I cannot open up the VI that's causing the trouble (the configure pump one). The pump in the system is a G1311A that should be supported by the drivers.
Very thankful for any kind of help, I'm totally stuck here...

    Thank you so much!!!
    good thinking!
I purchased refurbished equipment without really knowing that i could control it with labview, seeing the error and knowing that the VI's are locked leaves pure frustration
I am going to try this on monday, i am really crossing my fingers

  • Agilent 4263B timeout error

I modified the Agilent 4263B Getting Started template to include three extra VIs (seen on bottom row of included image). I keep getting a timeout error (GPIB -213, request for measurement initiation ignored because another measurement was already in progress) at the initiate block, the rightmost block in the bottom line. What is causing this error and what can I do to fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

A bit of a guess, but if the :TRIG function is triggering a measurement then the error is probably correct in that a measurement is in progress and probably indicates that the READ MEAS function has enough intelligence to wait for the measurement to complete.
If what you are trying to do is to measure different parameters then you need to move your new block of code after the READ MEAS function, set the FREQ. and MEAS. and then call :TRIG again instead of the INIT function to trigger another measurement.

  • 17500 error, synchronization manager connection lost

    Hello,
on a system using two PCs, one with TS Operator Interface, one with RemoteEngine, I got the following message:
"-17500: Lost connection to the synchronization manager on the remote machine. TestStand will attempt to reconnect ..."
Shortly afterwards our sequences do not react anymore, on the local machine as well as on the remote machine. Our log files do not show anything unusual before the problem, no crashes of DLLs etc.
Are there typical situations where this error occurs?
    Regards
    Peter

Sorry for the delay, but now I do have some new information.
Just for clarification, we have two PCs here which I will call controller (this is where the TS Operator Interface runs, where the remote sequence calls are made and where the queues and notifications for communicating with the remote execution are created) and worker (where only a REngine.exe is running).
The error is displayed on the worker, not, as I previously thought, on the controller. Is it possible to deduce from there, where the error actually occurs?
Most important is that the error always occurs after a production pause. When the system is idle (i.e. does not receive a start from the control system) for more than 10 minutes, it will have that error on the next start. During idling the controller polls the control system for a start signal, while the worker stands in a Dequeue step waiting for a command from the controller.
Hope that leads to some ideas.
    Regards
    Peter

  • Error -17500 when deploying the TS Workspace

    Hi,
We would like to deploy our application written in TS3.0. We tried to create a simple workspace with a empty sequence. Even then we are not succeeding in the installer creation. It gives -17500 error. I have attached the error screen. Please help us to solve the issue. Thank you in advance.

I believe that there was a bug in the 3.0 deployment utility with empty sequences. Try adding a step (of any type) to the sequence and see if that fixes the problem.

  • Problem showing remote systems in MAX

I am having trouble viewing traces set up on remote systems in Max.  I am using version 4.7.0f4  Whenever I try to set up a new remote system, it cannot find any remote computers.  I have tried using both the computer name (which is resolved to an IP address in the hosts file) and the just IP address.  I get this error:  "Unable to initialize connection to remote system(s)."
it's: agilent 34980a. i'm trying to reach it through global network but when i'm at the place where i have my device in local network everything is working fine.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi jacur,
Can you give more details? Which protocol would you like to use to connect to the device? It may appear under Devices and Interfaces if you use certain protocols.
Does the Agilent 34980 support communication over global network? Is the network gateway configure in the device? Are you sure your firewall not blocking MAX communication?
Have you installed a software that makes MAX able to find the device on network? You can check the Instrument Driver Network... may be this driver is useful: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=5871

The manufacturer's web site has a newer version of the driver for that instrument. It's not written all that well, but at least it uses VISA, unlike the VI you uploaded, which uses old GPIB functions. The library the manufacturer provides is in 5.1, which unfortunately you still cannot open in 8.6. Attached is the library in 8.2. For what it's worth, the VI you uploaded in 8.2 is also attached.

  • Teststand 2013 is losing .seq extension in sequence editor.

    Hi,
After I load my *.seq file and perform a couple of editing tasks and run it a few times it loses its extension and saves it as just file name, no extension. Then I am getting all sorts of error messages that my file was edited outside of the environment etc.
I fix it by forcing Save As and saving it manually. A little annoying. I thought it was related with creating a link to my seqeunce on my desktop, so I started running TestStand and then opening the sequence but that did not help. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Cimteker,
Can you make sure that there is no duplicate directory where the file gets saved. Like you have mentioned on the desktop. Can you delete that, and keep only one directory, and try again. What happens?
Also maybe deleting and rebuilding the ini file might fix the problem. See below:
If you have already seen a error -17500, and are unable to open any of the TestStand pop-up menus by right-clicking, the easiest way to fix the errors is to delete the <TestStand>\Cfg\TestExec.ini file. Note that this fix will not work if you saved your type palettes after seeing the -17500 errors. For best results, always shut down TestStand without saving files when you encounter this error.
    Repair:
Since the TestExec.ini file contains all of the information that the application uses to build menus, removing this file will erase the source of the error. When TestStand cannot find this file at start-up, it will rebuild it using the default menu setup. You will see a fresh copy of the file located in the Cfg folder. Once this file is rebuilt you should be able to navigate your menus as before. Once you have restarted TestStand, you may see that your custom step types are missing from the MyTypes.ini file. To get the file to refresh itself, browse to the <TestStand>\Cfg\TypePalette folder and open the MyTypes.ini file in any text browser. Save the file without making any changes. TestStand detects the type file again and loads it into memory. Your custom types will be as they were last saved, so you may need to look for them in their original group locations.
    Prevention:
The simplest way of avoiding this error is to make use of the Submenu Display Name Expression. You can access the Submenu Display Name Expression field by right-clicking on a step type in the Type Palette window and selecting Step Type Menu Editor. This field is only available when you have selected a group rather than a type. When you create new groups, this expression is blank by default. This expression is used by TestStand in order to sort groups by name when writing them to the TestExec.inifile and generating menus. Therefore, if there are several groups named "" (essentially groups with no name) then TestStand may be unable to distinguish among them. Enter any unique name in the Submenu Display Name Expression for every group before renaming or moving it to a new location.

  • When trying to work with Agilent 34401A multimeter (serial RS-232 connection), HP34401A Getting Started.vi gives always the message: "Error 1073807369 occurred at Old VISA Open ".

Baud rate and parity are set correctly, RS-232 cable is also connected correctly. My QuickBasic program has no problems to read and write to the Multimeter. It is obviously a software problem: the same error is persistent if I disconnect RS-232 cable.
I downloaded NI-VISA 2.6 for Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP frorm digital.ni.com and installed it. But it did not help.

  • How to resolve the error -1073807339 when using Agilent LAN/GPIB Gateway (E5810A)?

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Appreciate that you could advise me on the following error occur when connect power meter E4419B to computer via E5810A LAN/GPIB Gateway(remote interface) & run with Labview:
    -1073807339
    VISA Write in E4419_read_power.vi
I have added 5s timeout to Labview program but the result as previous.
There no error occurs when the power meter to computer via USB/GPIB interface(82357B).
Is it related to E5810A driver or the program I wrote?
    How to resolve it?

    Hi.
I'm experiencing the same problem when connecting a laser controller (New Focus Vortex TLB-6000) via the Agilent E5810A to a PC.
There are no problems when connected through a regular serial port, but timeouts arise every few seconds through the E5810A.  I have another controller (SRS LDC501) which works very well with a second Agilent console.
Have you managed to find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Orel.

  • Why do I get error -17500 when calling a batch file using the call executable step type?

I am calling a batch file using the call executable step type. If the path to the batch file contains a space I get error -17500 and a message stating there was an error in "Post". For example the path to the batch file is "c:\TestWin\Test Files\...\Program.bat" When I run this I get the above mentioned error, however if I change my directory structure so the path is now "c:\TestWin\TestFiles\...\Program.bat" it runs fine. I use the browse feature to find my batch file so it is not me typing in a path incorrectly. I have removed the batch file and I get a different error stating that it couldn't find the file so it appears that for my error it can find the file but can't run it. I am
sure that this has something to do with the fact that batch files are written in DOS but really don't want to resort to changing my directory structure on all my test stations. Is there any way to fix this problem so I can leave a space in my path?

It appears I have figured it out. This was on another computer so I was unaware of how they used their computer. I like you got it to work in the temp directory and in fact got the program.bat file to work as long as I put it under the temp directory, but when I switched out to my TestWin directory it wouldn't work, so I removed everything from the directory except the batch file it self and it work. What I found out after adding files in one at a time is that the person had a file called "Test" with no file extension in there "c:\TestWin\" directory. Removing this file made it work. Putting the file back broke it. So it appeares that when teststand was running it followed the path saw a space and attempted to grab the "Test" file instead of bro
wsing into the "Test Files" directory. If you create a file in your temp directory called "temp" with no file extension you will see the same problem. Thank you for your help.

  • Agilent 34970A doesn't return error when it should

See attached subvi. When I run this in my main vi and enter nothing in the RELAY string control (which is the required scanlist for the Agilent) and click RESET, the Agilent, as expected, beeps and displays an error on the front panel but the error status in this vi doesn't go true. Why not? (The Agilent Initialize.vi occurs before this vi is run in the main vi.)
    Attachments:
    RESET.vi ‏20 KB

Why should there be an error returned? There is no error in writing or reading. You are not doing an error query of the instrument.
If you were to use the driver, you would find the error query function and you could place that in your code to check to see if you have sent an illegal command. What would be better though, would be to ensure that the value that is entered into the string is valid before wasting the time with the VISA Write and Read. An empty string should never be allowed to exit the while loop.

  • Agilent 53131A LabWindows/CVI device driver showing timeout error

    Hi All,
I have developed TestStand sequences for Measurements using Agilent 53131A frequency counter instrument. I have developed 2 sequences one using CVI drivers and the other using LabVIEW drivers. The functionality of the sequence is as follows
    1. Initialize the instrument
    2. Measure the frequency for N number of times
    3. Close the instrument
What I could find is the LabVIEW driver based sequence is working fine (for any number of measurements) but the CVI driver based sequence is showing Timeout errors after 1or 2 measurements.
Thsi is the driver page http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=1003
Can anyone help me to find the root cause of this issue?

  • Deployment error:Error Code:-17500, Unknown System Error in TestStand - Read Seq Files in Workspace.vi-

    Help!
When trying to deploy a test system i got the following error:
    Error Code:-17500
Unknown System Error in TestStand - Read Seq Files in Workspace.vi->TestStand - Find Dependent Files.vi->TestStand - Add File and Dependent Files.vi->TestStand - Add All TestStand User Files to File Info Array.vi->TestStand - Update File Info.vi->TestStand - Distribution Wizard GUI.vi->TestStand - Deployment Utility Splash Screen.vi
I then tried to re-deploy previously successfully deployed systems - same error. (I have done nothing to my teststand setup/installation/engine or deployment files since the last successful deployment)
I removed teststand & then re-installed it - i still got the same error. These files it is searching for do not exist on my pc.
Any ideas what has gone wrong/how to fix it?
    cheers
    Fi

I've just had exactly the same problem and after posting a message, have been forwarded to this thread. Luckily it looks as though we've found a solution, or a cause of the problem. One of my work colleagues (SercoSteve on discussion forums) suggested removing the Teststand 3.1\cfg directory, and replacing it with a default one from another machine, and this seems to have done the trick and made the deployment wizard be able to analyse the files and build. We are editing files in cfg so I've now got the task of replacing each file in this directory one by one to find which is causing the problem.
I'll add another post when I find out which one it is.
