AGP and onboard ethernet sharing the same IRQ?

I just built a PC and I used the MSI K8T Neo FIS2R mobo. For some reason, the IRQ of my AGP video card is the same as the one for the onboard ethernet (Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC). They are both on IRQ 16 and I think this might be causing my games to crash. Is there any way to manually change the IRQ of the ethernet adapter?

Well you're right about it not being the IRQ problem. I disabled everything on IRQ 16 besides the video card (Ethernet and 1394 port were on 16 too).
Maybe I should elaborate on the problem a bit. My problem is that in any 3D applications (games, screensavers) I get a random crash. Sometimes the sound is left screeching and sometimes the sound just disappears. Even during 3D apps with no sound, my screensaver for example, the system will either freeze up and reboot or just the screensaver will freeze and I will have to Ctrl Alt Del it. When it reboots itself, sometimes it reports a critical error, and states that the video card was the problem.
Here are my specs:
MSI K8T Neo FIS2R
Athlon 64 3000+ (NewCastle Core)
400 Watt PSU
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
Geforce 4 Ti 4800
Maxtor 120 Gig 7200 RPM  ATA HD w/ 8 meg cache
1 Gig of RAM
I'm pretty sure it's not the RAM causing the problem because I had two 256 meg sticks (which were stable) in my last system and I added a 512 stick to it. I removed the 512 stick to see if it might be a bad chip, but the problem was still there. The only parts that I reused are the video card and the two 256 ram chips.
I am using the 1.81b bios for my mobo, as it will report the wrong temperatures otherwise. I am using the default voltages, nothing overclocked. I tried disabling the onboard sound as well as removing the Audigy 2 at the same time.
Any other ideas?
I don't see and option for APIC in my bios. I just noticed too, sometimes when looking at my bios or when browsing web sites, the monitor starts to get some lines through it. Not really lines, but like a distortion going horizontally across the screen.
This doesn't happen often though. I take that back, it is happening more often now.

  • If i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address.  If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their  individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini.  This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is,  if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT:  Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified.  Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

  • Thinkpad 8 - Power and Wired Ethernet at the same time?

Hi.  I am looking for a way to have Power and Wired Ethernet at the same time?
I have been looking at USB 3.0 micro cables with a dual USB ports - one for power and one for ethernet (via USB adapter) - but I can't get that to work.
Has anyone tried this?  Or found a solution to this?
    Thanks!

Lenovo sells a y-cable for the TP8 that does this. Look here. I've not been able to find any cheaper alternatives so I just ordered one of these myself.

  • Keeping a Officejet Pro 8600 connected wireless and by ethernet at the same time

I have one computer connected to this printer by ethernet, because the computer is to far away to be connected by usb. Whenever I want to print off of a laptop or tablet the printer won't print unless I physically disconnect the ethernet cable. When someone wants to print from the ethernet connected printer, they have to go back and reconnect the cable. Is there a way to fix this? Because quite honestly its a PAIN. I have had other printers from other manufactures that I was able to do this with. I find it hard to believe that HP would have such a backwards and utterly inconvenient setup.

Welcome to the HP Community @zhadum5000 !
I read through your post and wanted to respond to you. The printer cannot connect to both wireless and ethernet at the same time. You can connect wireless and USB however, you cannot combine both network connections. Your best bet would be to either stick with only ethernet, or only wireless.
I hope this helps answer your question!

  • My wife and I were sharing the same iCloud account. we now have separate iCloud accounts, I've switched over iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, but I can still see her old iCloud Tabs that were in her iPhone before we switched iCloud accounts. How can i fix this

I have also turned off iCloud on my iMac, donme complete resets with clean fresh restores on my iPhone and iPad but her old iCloud tabs are still there?

THis is an example. It's available with iOS 6.x and Moountain Lion. It's the iCloud icon that you see in the Safari toolbar.
It allows you to view any page that's open on any of the devices using the same iCloud ID

  • What usb auto switch is compatible with OSX and Windows for sharing the same printer

I just bought a new iMac for myself to replace my old Dell PC.  My husband still has his PC with Windows Vista and our work stations are set up to share the same MFC with a Belkin auto switch.   Unfortunately that software is not compatible with my OSX and I am having trouble searching for another auto switch that is compatible with both computer operating systems.  Can anyone recommend one to me?

Hmmm, we bought a brand new V300 from Epson and hooked it up it didn't work. We went through all the steps, downloaded all the drivers, and after several days of frustration, it still did not work so we returned it.
Apple hasn't been able to give us technical advice, Epson couldn't help. The only scanners sold locally are the printer/scanner combos.
I was looking at the Fujitso ScanSnap 1500M earlier tonight... am wondering if I can get by with this scanner since most of my scanning nowadays has to do with business documents. It sure would be nice to organize clutter and the text said something about compatible with the "cloud" as well.
I use my iPad all the time to show galleries & collectors the quality of my paintings... type up proposals, etc. Thanks for letting me know about it's compatibility with my iPad, iPhone and Mac.
Thank you for your input, AppleMan1958. you are wonderful.

  • Siebel and Oracle Ebiz sharing the same DB

Can Siebel and Oracle Ebusiness suite link up with the same database?
Any pointers to this, i would someone would have tried this out with consolidating multiple Oracle applications.
Any documentation available on this should be of great help.
    Thanks in Advance.

Ebusiness suite has very specific requirements for parameters, database versions, tablespace naming, patch level, and cloning. I have not installed Siebel, but I suspect it would have it's own requirements which will be different from Ebus.
I think it is very likely you will run into conflicts between the requirements of the two applications. Maybe not today, but definitely during the next patch or upgrade.
For vendor applications it is better to keep them in their own databases to avoid requirements conflicts.
You could open an SR with Oracle Support to ask if they will support a database with both applications installed.

  • IPhone 4 and iPad 1 sharing the same AppleID

Read a few discussions on similar scenarios, but couldn't really find a solution.
Wife's iPad 1 and my iPhone 4 share my AppleID for the iTunes Store. With iOS5 out, we can all go cordless and I would like to take advantage of that. I have created her AppleID, but how may I fully delink my ID from her iPad and link it to her ID without loosing app's data?
    Cheers

To all intents and purposes, all apps, movies, music, etc, are downloaded are for one single apple ID, though 5 devices can be authorized to use the apps but only registered to your Apple ID account.
Switching 'Home sharing' on can help here.
To set up a new apple ID for your wife on the iPad will create a new fresh iPad system without your Apps data I'm afraid. So it will be a lengthy copying and authorising to do.
MobileMe had a system to resolve all this known as Family package.
I'm not sure about iCloud providing this family package at this stage, but it would be a proper answer to your question.
    A quote from Macworld:
I’ve got lots of Apple IDs. I’ve got an iTunes account with all my apps and music on it, we have family MobileMe accounts for e-mail… what does the advent of iCloud mean for me?
We’re not sure how Apple is going to handle multiple accounts. However, the iOS 5 beta features an iCloud settings item as well as a separate Store settings item. The iCloud item handles the syncing of mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks, notes, Photo Stream, and Find My iPad, as well as storage and backup. The Store setting seems to cover music and apps. So it’s possible you’ll be able to use one Apple ID for media purchases and syncing, and a separate ID for all the other data. In this way, if you have a single family account for media purchases, you can keep everyone on that while using a separate account for other data.
Will I be able to merge my iTunes and MobileMe accounts into a single account? Or change my Apple ID and retain my old apps and media?
Apple hasn’t said anything about how management of Apple IDs will be handled. Given their increasing importance, it would certainly be nice if Apple allowed users to change, merge, and even split accounts.

  • IP over Firewire and ethernet at the same time?

Is it possible to use both IP over Firewire and ethernet at the same time?
I want to use my TB hard drive attached to one Mac via Firewire 800 to backup another Mac also attached to the same drive via Firewire 800. I can only mount the drive on one machine at a time so I need to share it out to the other Mac. It works great if I set it up to do strait IP over Firewire, with static IPs, but that means I can't connect to the internet because my ethernet connection on both machines becomes the secondary connection method. Similarly, if ethernet is primary then I can't connect via Firewire. Is there a way to set it up so the Macs will know which method to use depending on the IP address?
I am using 10.5.1 on both machines.
    G5, 1.8 GHz, 15.GB RAM
    MBP, 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM
    Thanks!

    Certainly.
In the network control panel I set Built-in FireWire to the top of the service order list, followed by Built-in Ethernet.
Next, I set Built-in FireWire to Configure Manually with the address 192.168.1.xxx and the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.xxx, making sure the Subnet Mask is set the same on both machines and that the IP address is different on both machines and different from the Built-in Ethernet addresses.
I applied the settings, turned on Sharing on both machines, then mounted whatever shared drives I needed by connecting to the other machine using the FireWire IP address.
Now I am able to share drives using FireWire 800 - which works great when used with Time Machine - and still use my normal ethernet to surf, etc..

I'm relatively new to Mac and want to try and get the most out of the new MacBook Air.
My wife and I have been sharing the same Apple ID. We both have iPhones - she has a 5 and I've got a 4S.
We only have one copy of iTunes and we have been sharing the account. (She doesn't really use the computer for anything beyond writing the odd weekend assignment.)
Would I be better off setting her up with her own and making her as a separate user on the computer? Would this require much work?
In recent times with updates, we have a few problems with the duplication of texts and that sort of thing. Both of our texts are stored on the computer and that sort of thing. Also, sometimes texts I send her are sent through to me  from her, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I don't really want to overly complicate matters when it comes to accounts etc, but I wanted to know if a fresh Apple ID would be the best thing or even a new user?
Any tips etc would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I have this question too (0) Reply

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac"   maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well.   I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours,  I dont know.......

  • HT204150 Sharing the same iTunes, Apple ID and iCloud accounts.

    Hi
My wife and I share the same Itunes , Apple Id and Icloud accounts.
How do we keep our contacts seperate, when we open up or back up on I cloud?
As we both have I phones, I would like to keep all my work contacts seperate from hers. Also I don't wish to have her contacts loaded on my phone and vice verser.
Will it mean the I will have to get a seperate apple ID and seperate Icloud account.
Problem is that all our music and photos are on the one Library, because we didn't have two Iphones before, it didn't matter.
We would like to keep the same Itunes library to access music and photos, but like to keep everything else seperate.
    Can you please help.
    Regards
    shervhall

You can continue to share the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores (your iTunes account/library), but you need to have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs to prevent merged data such as contacts.  (You aren't required to use the same ID for purchasing as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMesage, FaceTime, etc.)  The only issue is that photo stream is tied to the iCloud account so when you separate your accounts, you will no longer be sharing the same photo stream.  You can still send each other shared photo streams in order to share each other's photos, but they wouldn't be part of the same photo stream.
To separate your iCloud accounts, on the device that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your device.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The device that will be keeping the existing account will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this device using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other wife's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls you also need to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime.  To change the ID for iMessage on one of the devices, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with a separate ID (such as the new iCloud ID).  To change the ID for FaceTime on this device, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • HT204053 My wife and I shared the same AppleID but want to break these apart. We set up a new AppleID for her but can't get this changed on the phone. How do we switch her AppleID default on her iphone 4?

My wife and I shared the same AppleID but now want to break these apart into separate accounts. I have set up a new appleid for her and also set up on line. However, I can't figure out how to change this on her iphone4. I have looked at all of the General settings but need guidance. When I use the phone to try to purchase songs from itunes, it reverts to the old appleID.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

Everything that you have checked in your icloud settings will be shared between devices using the same Apple ID.  If you don't want icloud to share that information, then simply turn off that process under settings > icloud
